View 3 RepliesI have tried all the common fixes with no success,I have tried opening one window then another and draging the second window to the full screen size and then closing the first and second windows while holding the ctrl key I have tried to reset IE settings, all that has done is NOTHING to help. This started happening after I just did a fresh install of Windows 7?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
I'm running Windows7 with IE9. If I go to "Start - Favorites" and select any of my favorites (including my homepage), IE opens the browser as a "small" window (not fit to screen). If I navigate to my "User - Favorites" folder and click from there, it's the same thing. However, if I click on my IE icon in my taskbar, my homepage opens "full" every time. I would like my favorites to also open to fit the screen.
I have tried, (the obvious) maximizing it then closing it normally, dragging the edges of the small window to fit the screen and then closing with "x" and also with "ctrl-file-exit" and "shift-file-exit" - the only suggestions I've been able to find so far, but nothing is working. In my start menu - programs, I have right clicked on both the 32 and 64 bit IE Explorer icons and selected for them to open maximized, but it hasn't helped.
I recently had a run in with the "SmartHDD" virus, but this problem existed long before that issue. I have done a reset on the browser, after the smarthdd issue, I reinstalled the browser, but I'd assume there may be something other than the browser causing this problem(?)Scans with AVG, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware are not showing any problems with the pc.
All the shortcuts on my pc will not open. All of a sudden windowa photo viewer took over tham all. I can't even do a system restore and the shortcut for this won't open. I have tried to change the program using internet explorer too, and this won't work. How can I find the right file opener and where is it on my pc?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7. I'm getting odd behaviour from my machine. I can only type in search boxes intermittently, other times when I press a letter the shortcut droplist comes on---"F" is find and so on. Only light on my keyboard is Num Lock, so I don't think it's a keyboard issue. When I left click shortcut to open IE(or any program), I get the, "do you want this program to make changes..." message, or I get the shortcut properties box, and if I move a shortcut, it makes a copy---"Computer 2."

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to have shortcuts open with a full screen. I do not know where to look to find a way to do that. Would someone please tell me the place to make that happen and maybe the procedure to take. I just got a newer PC and it is not at all like the old one. I have an HP model p6710f with Windows 7 home edition.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been happily using Windows 7 Pro for a while now, but recently whenever I click on folders such as My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures or Recycle Bin etc, they flash open for a split second and then appear open on the bar at the bottom where open programs are. If I click the icon of the now 'open' folder, it flashes for a split second again (just like it did earlier) and then the process repeats itself!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if it's possible to create or modify shortcuts that will open more than one thing. For instance I would like to open "tech overview" from my computer and it would open:
1: Control Panel
2: Manage Computer
3: System
4: Device Manager
And hopefully I would be able to add or remove things from the list to make it even more modified over time. Another example would be to open "my website" from my computer and it would open:
1: Explorer view of camera shot images
2: Explorer view of htdocs for the website
3: Explorer view of images directory
4: Explorer view of recent downloads
5: Dreamweaver
I downloaded 2 videos from a camcorder and the appear on my desktop as a folder. When I try to open them I get a message that tells me the drive or network connection that the shortcut'New folder.lnk refers to is unavailable. My life depends on this as they were important to my son
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I define keyboard shortcuts for different open application windows. This is something I do in Linux and it helps a lot when I have many windows open. Example: I have Internet explorer open, I give it shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A Then for example VLC player is open, I give it a Ctrl+shift+B
Then I can just press these keys and go from one window to another. This makes a lot of sense when I have 40 windows open. Pressing Alt+tab is not as efficient as this.
I have Googled this without success. Does anyone know of a script (or is able to write one?) which will batch convert a folder (+ subfolders) full of shortcuts so that they all open the application they link to (in the case, Microsoft Flight Simulator) in a maximized, not 'normal' window?
I have over a thousand of these shortcuts and opening each one's properties window and changing 'normal' to 'maximized' is not really an option!
Not really a 'Windows 7' question specifically of course, but maybe someone here will know anyway?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit .I have ticked in Folder Options to open windows in same window but it won't work, the windows are opening in new window!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm used to W7 remembering the last known positions of all of my open windows, but lately (and I can't recall what change may have prompted this) every window opens in a maximized state, and upon restoring it, always sizes down to the default window size, jammed right into the upper-left corner of the screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently received a new computer at work with Windows 7 loaded on it. In the upper right-hand corner of any window, there is a pushpin icon beside the minimize icon. I can use this to pin any open window so that it always stays on top. I didn't realize that this feature is available on Windows 7, and it is not visible on my Windows 7 installation at home (this is an office computer). How to activate it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's probably something simple but I haven't found it yet. Any way to set ALL new windows to full screen rather than the standard 1/3rd screen?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 64 bit and well.. After going past the first screen - you know the little one, where you can choose how you want to load it and such - well if i choose to load it in a window it doesn't load. I click play and a small black box quickly comes on and off the screen and then nothing happens. And if i highlight the icon on the taskbar it shows a picture of oblivion working fine. But its not working on my screen.
