I installed McAfee's latest Beta suite thing last night. Now whenever I am navigating through my files and open a folder, a NEW WINDOW pops up and the old one stays there. It's very annoying. I tried toggling the "Open folders in new window" option in Folder Options but it did nothing.

Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit .I have ticked in Folder Options to open windows in same window but it won't work,the windows are opening in new window!

Basically the functionality that is in the navigation pane but not for the main explorer window. OS X and Ubuntu both have this feature, anyone know of a plugin for explorer or a registry tweak to add this functionality (for the main window)???

In XP, if I opened up a folder, I could start typing and the folders/files list view would jump down according to the letters I typed in.
In Windows 7, this does not happen - the focus remains in the left panel (i.e. Favourites, Libraries, Homegroup etc).

So i have created some shortcuts to quicklaunch certain folders. Some of them open and i can use the arrow keys to scroll through the items in the folder.
Some of them open with the "Name" column selected, so the arrow keys don't initially scroll through the items in the folder.
I know this is very specific, but there HAS GOT to be a way to define what it opens to by default... especially since some of my folders default to the list of items within the folder.
When i go to open a new windoiw and i already have one open it seems to disappear within seconds such like the conformation email i got for this forum with i click on the link a window went to open but flashed and disappered i couldn't even use the spell check on this because the window disapeared I'm running Windows XP and this just started today .

I can use this to pin any open window so that it always stays on top. After going past the first screen - you know the little one, where you can choose how you want to load it and such - well if i choose to load it in a window it doesn't load. I click play and a small black box quickly comes on and off the screen and then nothing happens. And if i highlight the icon on the taskbar it shows a picture of oblivion working fine. But its not working on my screen.

It seems I have all the folders open in the same window, or each time I double click on a folder it opens again in a new window. View 3 Replies View Relatedproblem is that when i go to microsoft word or powerpoint or excel, i press the "open" button and nothing happens. absolutely nothing as in no window will pop up that has the c: drive similar to when you run windows explorer or anything. i should add that windows explorer still works, its just using the "open" or "browse" button that nothing happens. This also happens in other programs as well i just cant think of them at the moment. The problem seemed to start one day when i was playing a computer game and i was also using deskspace (for organization) what happened was that the game switched to a completely seperate desktop and changed one of the desktop wallpapers. if you dont know deskspace is a virtual desktop manager that organizes it like a cube (cube desktop is better but i cant get it to let me change the icons on each desktop which completely defeats the purpose for me. Deskspace is somewhat similar to compiz for anyone who knows about that program for linux. So back to the problem after that i went to change the wallpaper back to what it was before, and i pressed the "browse" button and nothing happened. I didnt really think much of it until i tried to use word today and pressed "open" and nothing happened. from there i tried various programs and none seemed to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am always manipulation files between several folders so I have several iterations of Windows Explorer open when my computer boots up and showing the contents of the folders that I manipulate all the time. Using XP files moved or copied into another folder always appeared at the bottom of the explorer window and that was good because although they were out of alphabetical order I always knew where to find the new files in the explorer window. They would stay at the bottom until I clicked 'Refresh' or changed the focus to another folder or shut down that explorer. Windows 7 explorer behaves differently and places new files in alphabetical order. Is there a way it can be changed so that new files show at the bottom of the explorer window?

Everytime I open these applications, I adjust Notepad++ to take up 80% of the screen, and 20% for the command prompt to run the command line app that I'm writing.During my work, sometimes I'll minimize close/resize these windows, but I'l like them to alwasy open at the same locations and sizes not matter where they where when I closed them.
