Every time I try to attach a photo or doc to an email using either Yahoo, Comcast or whatever browser, the system freezes and crashes. I called Microsoft and spent over an hour with one of their techs, and he got it to work for about a week, now it's doing it again

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently have moved some of my users documents to a newer server from our old server.This caused no real issues and was quite easy to manage. After the move on one particular system, I updated the document library to make sure it was pointing to the new location on the new server, made the files available offline, and let it synchronize.After the synchronization was complete, there were no issues.However, when they try to attach a file to either an email or to a web form through Internet Explorer, the document library from the 'Attach a file' window is still pointing to the old location. When I try to point that library to the new location, it says the folder isn't indexed, although I can have the library open in a windows explorer window and show that it is indexed and in the library.Is there any way I can have the library updated in both Windows and Internet Explorer?
The system is currently running Windows 7 Professional 32Bit.It was running Internet Explorer 8 when the error first appeared, but I updated to Internet Explorer 9 and it is still not working correctly.This is the only system where it is acting like this, I have checked other identical systems that have had this file switch done as well.
I have a brand new laptop. Toshiba I5 with Windows 7. Since I have it, I have problems with Internet Explorer. It crashes constantly. I have read on some forums that it could be caused by an Add On, therefore I have tried running internet explorer from the sytem tools menu with No Add Ons, but it still does the same thing opens and immediately crashes. I have runn CCleaner hoping that perhaps a registry problem was the cause, but this did not resolve the issue either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!
I'm trying to send some pictures and I want to reduce the size of them as I send themI'm using Windows Photo Gallery. I open it. My device is listed on the left hand column and when I click to view it, all it will do is try to import all the 3000 pictures I have on there. I don't want to put them into this new computer as they take up a lot of space. So, I just want to send a couple of them in an email.Maybe in this new computer with 450 GB, it would be okay to import them? can click on photo email as an attachment, and it will give me an opportunity to change the size and put it in the email. That's good, but I can't get to the pictures on my usb drive.I've dug around and found that it will not read unless the drive is listed under: computer, hard drives, and that is something the manufacturer does.

It will not open for me to get to the file I have.

Neither does the "Control-A" or click on a file hold "shift" and click on another file work. Also when I attach a single file instead of giving me the progression bar it almost instantly indicated the file is attached.Of course this is irritating as multiple time a day I will send emails with images attached and I have to have this feature working.

since beginning of july 2012 my laptop won't allow me to upload anything online to sites like facebook, Internet, attach files to emails and other websites. it seems i can't send files through an instant messenger, either, so i know it's not a problem with my browser. i can browse sites and play/watch videos & also download. when i upload a picture or an attachment, the gif image keeps rotating but the upload bar doesnt go above 2%. i've checked windows firewall's advanced settings, and outbound connections are allowed, and all the rules that would say anything isn't allowed don't have anything to do with files to websites. i scanned my pc for viruses using avira antivirus and also malware bytes anti malware. also scanned and fixed registry usingccleaner. finally did a system restore. im using google chrome. tried on mozilla firefox & internet explorer-9 but same result. did a reset as well. my os is windows 7.also i've tried turning off the antivirus & also firewall for public networks. that doesn't help either[code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have spent the day editing a document which i stupidly just opened from an email attachment in my hotmail account and proceeded to edit. I diligently saved it throughout the day but did not use the save as function.
I have tried to open a similar document and choose save as to see where the document would have saved but this does not seem to work in Windows 7. I have tried looking in my 'temp' folder but this is empty.
Does anyone know how else I could retrieve this document? It is the only version i have...i really ought to have looked after it better!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever a PDF document is selected in Windows Explorer, the document is being Previewed, I am unable to make specific changes to that document when I open it in either Acrobat Pro or Foxit.
The specific changes include: note annotations, adding lines, objects, text boxes, call out boxes, images.
For some reason, highlighting doesn't produce the same error (weird?) Preview seems to be stealing the permissions to save a file because i guess it is accessing the file too.
The error is: Quote: The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or opened by another user, save the document with a different name or in a
different folder The solution is to de-select the document from Explorer and then save the file. However, this is extremely irritating. I select the document in Explorer before I open it, so of course the file is still selected! In order to get around this, I have to manually de-select any file that I want to save, OR turn off Preview.
Any workaround for this so that Preview doesn't take over when I want to make changes to a file?
I'm just wondering if there's any way I can reduce the clutter of windows on my desktop when running applications.In the good old days of RISC-OS (Remember Acorn?) I could close a directory window automatically at the same time as double-clicking on a file icon to open a document. Quite often, when I've opened a document, there's no need to go back to the directory window it came from, so there's no point still having the window open in the background. (I can use the Start Menu>Recent list to reopen the file at a later date if need be, although I'm often working with downloaded files on a once-only basis, so there's no need.)I'm familiar with the Ctrl-DoubleClick technique in Windows Explorer to keep one directory open whilst opening a sub-directory, but is there a way of achieving my aim of closing the Explorer window automatically when opening a document?

And starting today I've been getting constant APPCRASH errors from explorer.exe, it happens almost every 5 minutes (it's making me want to rage). I have gone to Event viewer to look for a reason and 9 out of 10 crashes acording to the faulting module is "msi.dll" Isn't msi the Microsoft installer?
