View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 os using mozilla firefox browser. I created a shortcut on my desktop to access Internet Options. It was working fine for a while. Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe apply button in Internet options is grayed out, so I cannot save changes. So I cannot save any setting changes. This happened on my last pc also.I am using IE9, 9.0.8112.16421. 64bit. update 9.0.5 (KB2647516)The pc has McAfee pre installed but no other similar anti virus software etc.Using Windows 7, SP1 Home Premium 64 bitI have now tried disabling add ons. Windows says all add ons are disabled but in internet options they were in fact ENabled. I disabled each one. "Apply" is still greyed out.I ran the MS "Fix It" tool but no luck. I reset internet explorer but no luck I downloaded IE9 from the links provided but the download could not be completed as the PC I have has a later version....so still no luck I'm afaid! This is very perculiar indeed. This happened on my last pc......which I can still use and I'm trying to see if there is commom which I may have done to both but nothing comes to mind.

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I dual booted Windows 7 and Windows 8. Everything was fine, until I decided I wanted to point my music collection in Win8 to my Win7 music folder (turns out you can't do this right now anyway in the music app). I wanted to make sure that win8 didn't screw with any files so I changed the whole drive permissions in Win8 to have read access, but not write access of my Win7 drive. I did the vice versa for Win7.When I restarted my system I got a "windows created a temporary paging file..." error message and figured out its because I screwed with my file permissions. To fix it I just need to change the permissions back, however now they are all greyed out (even in the (hidden) Administrator account) and I can't figure out how to change the permissions back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 hard drives in a Raid 0 configuration. On this configuration, I have 2 partitions, C and D. C currently has Vista on it.
booted from win 7 64bit disk. Select Custom. Select advanced options and highlight the C partition. All of the advanced options are greyed out (format, delete, etc).
If I select the D partition, all the advance options are available, but obviously I don't want to install to the D drive.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to why the options are greyed out on my C partition? could it have to do with the Raid 0? It came from Dell like this.
Can I access my Home PC's Internet via the works pc as there is no active phone line? is this possible with a dongle or usb wireless adapter. Tried VNC and Teamviewer but need it only to update virus definitions and google on work pc not to access programs!

I am working on an Acer, Aspire 5532 laptop, Windows 7, Home Premium, 64-bit Operating System. I can connect to any network, but it always says "No Internet Access." I used to be able to connect wirelessly from anywhere but not now. I was working on the internet one day and an error message popped up, I must have hit ok, and it rebooted me. I haven't been able to get on the internet since. I do not know what the error message was. When I go into Device Manager, under Networking, their is a yellow exclamation mark next to MS Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2. The error message is, "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)." Here are the things that I've tried to resolve this issue:1) disabled the MS Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2) Updated Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter and Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)3) Gone into the registry and deleted the UpperFilters and LowerFilters and rebooted. The above resolutions were the only resolutions that I was able to find to try. I really need to be able to get this laptop back on the internet as my daughter starts college next week and will soon be needing it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedUntil recently I ran windows xp. I shared a built in wall Ethernet jack with another desktop. I used my router (Linksys Befsr41) as a switch by disabling dhcp and connecting the wall ethernet and the two computers to the Lan ports on the router. The other desktop until recently was also running windows xp, but was upgraded and is now an apple imac running os x lion. My internet briefly stopped working but I was able to reset my router and get my internet running again. I then needed to reformat my build and installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I cant quite pinpoint my problem. If I connect straight to the wall ethernet jack i have internet access. However if i use my router as a switch to get internet for both my pc and the apple imac, I will not have internet access. Sometimes the internet does indeed come back on in this circumstance, only to get disconnected again shortly. I am not sure who to blame because the router worked fine when spliiting ethernet for xp machines, and I have internet access when running straight from the wall to my pc
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access. Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically. Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently went into my security settings in Google Chrome (The same is in IE8) and had seen that the slider that adjusts the settings for restricted sites is greyed out and i cannot change it. I've seen on many forums that this can be fixed with a simple registry edit. The closest i've come is by going into regedit and accessing;mHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settingsones From there i'm confused. There are four sub-folders labeled 1 - 4 excluding a fifth folder called 0.Which folder do i access and edit or am i in a completely wrong spot? I am the Administrator. I have run multiple security scans. And also, my laptop is up to date with updates. Running Windows 7 Enterprise.32-bit i3 CPU

View 2 Replies View Related[code] I never had this issue on Windows Vista, occasionally my internet will randomly dropout. Limited Internet Access". When it does I can do a few things to get it working again:
- Disable, then enable my wireless card and reconnect.
- Uninstall the card, then re-install and reconnect.
- Disconnect from the internet myself and reconnect.
Either way it gets super frustrating. There is 1 other computer plugged directly into the router that does not experience any issues. In addition, I have 1 laptop (windows 7) that works great and 1 laptop (Windows XP) which works great.

The Gpu was running, motherboard fine, everything except the Motherboard with the CPU. I have heard from a lot of people that AMD Phenom II x4 965G + ASUS Motherboard 760G just glitches out even though I can run the system up and play all of these high CPU dependable games like L4D PERFECTLY with out any problems what so ever. I reboot the computer I am sent to the black screen with "PRESS F8" to open Boot Menu or Bios" I believe. Press DEL for what ever and TAB for EZ FLASH 2, I already updated the correct bios update from ASUS website of my model Motherboard but this will not go away and I have no way to access the "F8" for Safe Mode and all the other options, I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I ran the "fix" on OTL and everything went back to normal (IE home page stayed as set, and the dimmer buttons on my laptop started to work). Then came a Windows Update and restart after updating.
