View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message saying 'Consider Replacing Battery'. I'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba A300. I've read that this is a problem with Windows 7. I'm wondering if Toshiba has a fix for this such as a fix for the BIOS.etc or maybe a driver? It looks like I should downgrade to XP..
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince last week, the battery, network and sound icons appeared in the visible part of the system tray and the rest were hidden. But since several days, the battery icon has gone to the hidden area as well. It remains hidden even when the laptop is running on battery. Is it possible to bring the battery indicator back to the visible part of the tray?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS K50IE laptop that i had for 2 years now. been working fine until 2 days ago.this problem has been bugging me for the last 2 days. here's why.my laptop suddenly didn't detect my battery. thought it was because my battery was dead. I searched the net on things to do before "throwing in the towel" on my battery and today i came across a blog where the instruction was to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery driver. I did just that and my battery suddenly worked! well sort of. now here's where it gets all weird.every time i open my laptop i do the following:1. plug in AC to laptop.. turn on laptop.3. unplug AC.3. laptop runs on battery.4. log on to windows.5. battery icon shows up as an empty charging icon then shows the "Battery is not detected" icon again.please take note that my laptop is still ON and WORKING. so this means (MAYBE?) that my battery is working.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi've just installed 8GB OCZ Gold DDR2 RAM on my Asus P5Q Pro Turbo board, the timings on the RAM state PC8500 1066Mhz 5-5-6@2.10v. I have checked in the BIOS and the frequency was set to auto and the voltage was also set to auto, I have set these to 1066 and 2.10 respectively but when I checked with CPU-Z it reports frequency 534.9 and voltage 1.80. I made sure I saved the changes before i exited the bios
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have xps m2010, it uses notebook graphic mobility radeon x1800. the card is so old that many of the recent GPU software can't seem to read it properly. GPUz was able to see core/memory clock and memory but unable to see temperature or voltage.
GPU meter/PC meter just fails to see it at all, not supported it seems, same goes for GPU monitor or GPU observer, cant see it.
however temperature shows up in Hwinfo but no voltage either. I was able to download ATItool and able to change it's core/memory clock speed but it doesn't have voltage control.
what I want to do is for it to run at a lower VID/clock when idle, something like CPU speedstep or nVidia powermizer. when idle, lower voltage, temp and clock speed, when used, back to highest etc.
why I can't increase the CPU voltage beyond 1.346000 V on my MSI 990xa-gd55 motherboard? I've tinkered with practically everything in the BIOS

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn loading Windows, I've been receiving an odd error message in reference to a non-existent "F:System Reserved" drive stating "you must format the disk in drive F: before you can use it." This will occur multiple times per minute at first before eventually going away. Each time the error occurs, this F: drive will appear for a split second before immediately disappearing once more. While this hasn't seemed to impact the performance of the computer in any way, the repeated errors essentially make the computer unusable for the first 2-3 minutes after loading.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i startup my new-ish laptop (Dell 64bit i7processor running windows 7) i keep getting a black screen with a message in white letters reading:-
"Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is NTFS. Volume label is OS. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. To skip disk checking, press any key within 10 seconds."
When i didn't press any key to escape the message it remained static like that for over an hour. Can anyone explain what is happening and how can i maintain a healthy disk in the first place to avoid this message?
I have just recently built my new system build. Everything started out fine.I configured my BIOS settings and booting sequence before I had an OS to start it up. Today, I got Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM and put it in the drive to start up, then an error message saying BOOTMGR is missing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my sony vaio F126 for about 3 months now and today a blue screen popped up. Now whenever I restart my computer, I only see a black screen with "operating system found." I don't have any important files on there that I need.
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I started getting a strange error message pop up that stated "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." It seems to pop up at random. First couple times, I ignored it. When it persisted, I googled it, only to find most people with this error are having issues with links in outlook. I do not use outlook or IE, and wasn't doing anything browser related during any of the errors, so, lazily, I ignored it again. Finally, when one of these errors kicked me out of my Portal game, I decided I had to do something about it. I decided to just system restore before I went through any huge hassle before I tried figuring anything major out.
System restore went swimmingly, didn't seem to have any issues. But.. My keyboard and mouse, both wireless and usb, weren't working upon reboot. Okay. Different port. Nope. All of them are dead. All. Even the motherboard ones in the back. NO usb device I plug in works, or even registers. To make it weirder, I see that my wireless isn't connecting (the internet is fine) and my sound is muted. Sound was on when I started system restore. It's like all input into my machine is no longer accepted. I know the CD drive works, because inserting a CD even brought up the autoplay window, even though I can't actually input anything.
I am facing this problem, mostly while playing games and sometimes even when operating computer normally. Earlier I used to get BSOD but now it comes rarely. I tried almost everything but wont able to solve this problem:
- Formatted my computer
- Changed OS
- Reinstalled OS
- Even changed my monitor
Shut down PC last night, all working perfectly. Today it won't boot with the "missing operating system" message. Have booted from Windows 7 installation disc, tried startup recovery - took 2 hours before reporting no automatic fix possible. It cannot find an installed Windows OS to do a system restore, so I attempted a "custom" clean re-install. However, I then get a "canot create system partition or find existing one" error message. I have tried to create a "New" one but nothing doing. I don't seem to have any HDD drivers to point to either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire one. It came with XP and I have it dual booting into Windows 7 which is working well which I installed from a USB Drive as this model doesnt have a CD Drive.
In the main boot screen it says "Earlier version of Windows" For XP and "Windows 7" for windows 7. All was working well until yesterday...
Now I can't boot into "Earlier version of Windows" i.e. XP. It gives me the C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt message. I can boot into Windows 7 fine but all of my work stuff is on the XP platform (I know I can access the files from "7" but I need to get it operational again).
Any ideas? Can I do a repair from the USB Drive?..I've tried a couple of things to boot from the USB Drive but to no avail. And I can't find the BOOT.INI file from XP (I think it gets moved to Windows 7's hidden boot partition when I installed it. I cant seem to access that partition either).
i have a problem with opening "system volume information" in my computer.when i open it gives a message saying that"access denied".

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just recently built a new computer and i decided to see how much more speed i could get out of my processor with amd overdrive's autoclock feature. it brought it from 3.1 GHZ to 3.2, and it wasn't stable so i just reset the settings back to default. I also tried overclocking my graphics card with MSI afterburner and it wasn't stable or worth the tiny bit of extra fps so i clicked reset to default. now whenever i shutdown my pc and turn it back on it says "overclocking failed" and then it takes me to my bios screen where it says that settings have been changed in the advanced section in my bios, so i go there and click the reset to default button.when i boot into windows i get weird lines and purple squares and then the screen flashes and it says that my display drivers have stopped working. so my computer is unusable and i have spent alot of money building it and i don't know what to do!
