Checking File System On C Message On Startup

When i startup my new-ish laptop (Dell 64bit i7processor running windows 7) i keep getting a black screen with a message in white letters reading:-
"Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is NTFS. Volume label is OS. One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. To skip disk checking, press any key within 10 seconds."
When i didn't press any key to escape the message it remained static like that for over an hour. Can anyone explain what is happening and how can i maintain a healthy disk in the first place to avoid this message?

To skip disk checking, press any key within(10)seconds.I have allowed it to continue numerous times, but it makes no difference, this same error comes up every time I start my computer, now I just press a key within 10 seconds and that gets rid of it.

My laptop comes up with this message everytime it is turned off, but if i leave it to 'check' then it goes in a continous loop, so I cancel it first time. Does anyone how I can stop this from happening and also if it is the cause of the problem with Internet explorer 9, which installs but then when restarted doesn't acknowledge it has been installed

Just purchased HP Pavillion dv-7-2273cl Entertainment Notebook. I haven't installed any programs yet. It did an online Windows update.
At boot it stops and gives me this msg: Checking file system on c: file type is NTFS (blah blah) one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency.
Words close to that anyway. It counts down to check or skip but stops at 1 second to press any key. I ran diagnostics on all hardware, everything checks out OK. I haven't done any reconfiguring or added any hardware. This is out of the box preinstalled.

My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)�nothing I do can get it past this step. What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.

When I turn on my E-Machines computer for startup I sometimes get a massage "Checking NVRAM and it hags there. If I pull the power cord and reinsert it the machine will come up properly.

I was trying to backup my flash drive and all of a sudden, it did not work. I kept plugging my flash drive in and out but that did not work. my laptop is just at a black screen after the dell screen.
I clicked the error checking for the "C Drive" and "At Startup" and when i restarted it just went to a black screen after the dell screen.
I have restarted several times trying to get Windows 7 to startup with no avail. What should i do?
Its a dell latitude laptop with like 2gb of ram intel core 2 duo proc (not sure on speed)

Although the boxes about checking for mails at start-up and checking every such-and-such minutes are disabled in the options-menu, live mail keeps checking for mails at start-up.

I just recently built a new computer and i decided to see how much more speed i could get out of my processor with amd overdrive's autoclock feature. it brought it from 3.1 GHZ to 3.2, and it wasn't stable so i just reset the settings back to default. I also tried overclocking my graphics card with MSI afterburner and it wasn't stable or worth the tiny bit of extra fps so i clicked reset to default. now whenever i shutdown my pc and turn it back on it says "overclocking failed" and then it takes me to my bios screen where it says that settings have been changed in the advanced section in my bios, so i go there and click the reset to default button.when i boot into windows i get weird lines and purple squares and then the screen flashes and it says that my display drivers have stopped working. so my computer is unusable and i have spent alot of money building it and i don't know what to do!

Ever since I bought my new computer and installed Windows 7 64 bit Pro I have noticed that sometimes when I start my computer the startup locks up or crashes, requiring me to restart or it takes me to the system repair screen and running this process does nothing.

Whenever I boot up my computer, I get a message that says
"There was a problem starting 3DLCXtime.dll The specified module could not be found"
The box has an 'OK' button and an x in the top right, I just hit 'OK' and the box goes away and doesn't bug me, but I wish to have it stop, since it kinda worries me that it may be a larger problem that may slowly get bigger.

I am not computer savvy when it comes to these sorts of things. The heading states it all and am wanting a bit more of an insight at any problems that may be occurring etc.. Also, as of late I have noticed that my DVD player refuses at times to read a DVD movie or game title, and only after a few open / closes it seems to work. - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? i am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my core i3 lennovo laptop
Problem is that i have been running a 2nd monitor and about a month ago the laptop screen went crazy and stopped working but the monitor kept working so i just went along with that. All has been fine but 2 days ago a tried to log in and the computer froze so i manually restarted it to find the startup repair come up, it did its thing, restarted a few times over a day and then it said that the problem could not be repaired, i tried it again and the same thing happened.I saw the infinite loop tutorial so i tried it and got to the final stages and it said that the action could bot be performed because of an i/o error.I searched around and saw that people have used chkdisk And sfc scannow. I tried these but kep geting the same messge about the i/o error.

Living is south FL can be a bitch when the rains come as there often is a ton of accompanying lightening that plays havoc with the electrical system, even though I have surge protectors inside and outside the house. We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup. At that point, Start Up Repair came into play. Although I routinely backup on an external drive, of course I never did it this month-DUH!Results from SUR were error free (error code=0x0) on all the parameters tested, however there were the following error codes reported:"Unspecified change to the system configuration might have caused the problem." Failed: 0x1fRepair Action: System FilesFailed: x490There were more options to select for a recovery task, but I didn't try them as they didn't seem to be as salient as the two above.

Whenever I try to download/install any software now, I get this message (Windows 7 Ultimate-64 bit)
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.
I can download the software on another PC with Windows 7 - 32 bit - save it to disk and install it just fine on the 64 bit PC.

I have been using windows 7 RC for a few months now and from time to time have searched for others that experience the same, but no luck!
The problem:
When I try to save a new file, I get the message "there are no more files" and the file is not saved.
I can transfer filed between folded and other drives, but I can not down load files or save new files from any applications.
I have looked into owner and privileges, all settings seem. fine

I am trying to burn Blank dvds under my Roxio Easy Burning software. And my Hp keeps coming up an message says "Video_TS File Missing or not found". I just brought this laptop in early feburary of this year. I can burn blank CDs. Please help! I don't know if its the driver update or the optical drive it self.

My son has the above printer which has been working normally for quite a while now suddenly when he wants to print something he is getting this message coming up 'output file name' how can I get rid of this message so as he can print as before. Toshiba Laptop running windows 7 64 bit. 4 gigs ram. T4500 processor.In a new house, just installed a new wireless router (linksys WRT something) with encryption.I am having difficulty downloading anything from the internet. Browsing works just fine but whenever I load a video or download a file of any size I get difficulties.After downloading Silverlight or Steam and attempting to install I get a message that the file is corrupt.Google downloader (trying to reinstall chrome) and windows update will both download just fine up a certain point then the download will abruptly stop, even though the internet is still working.This is an ongoing theme with movies as well. They will buffer to a point then the video will be unable to play past that point.I have tried going around the router and using a different browser both to no avail. I ran spybot and had to download updates from 2 different locations because 3 items would not download from the first server. Several problems were found but my problem was not fixxed.
