Startup Repair Not Working, I/O Error Message In Cmd Prompt?
Jun 8, 2012
i am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my core i3 lennovo laptop
Problem is that i have been running a 2nd monitor and about a month ago the laptop screen went crazy and stopped working but the monitor kept working so i just went along with that. All has been fine but 2 days ago a tried to log in and the computer froze so i manually restarted it to find the startup repair come up, it did its thing, restarted a few times over a day and then it said that the problem could not be repaired, i tried it again and the same thing happened.I saw the infinite loop tutorial so i tried it and got to the final stages and it said that the action could bot be performed because of an i/o error.I searched around and saw that people have used chkdisk And sfc scannow. I tried these but kep geting the same messge about the i/o error.
I was using my computer to update my ipod and it suddenly restarted. I figured it was restarting because of the ipod and I left it. When it turned back on, it was doing a startup repair, which I've never seen before and didn't ask it to do. When it finished, it said that it couldn't fix the errors. It restarted my computer and opened the startup repair again. I've tried the system restore too and it still opens to the startup repair everytime I turn it on. I don't know what to do and why it's doing this but I'm getting nervous about it. How can I fix it, or at least get past the startup repair so I can back up everything and restore the computer to the factory settings?
i had a problem with my windows 7 laptop when i start it it showed me these choices:Launch startup repair (recommended)Start windows normally i chose "Start windows normally" but it restarts and showed me the page again then i chose "Launch startup repair" and when it finished it shutdown i turn it on it showed me the same page each time i select one of the choices it do the same thing i wish you find an easy solution for this problem and the name of the page im talking about is "Windows error recovery"
6 month old computer, everything worked flawlessly. Yesterday the touchpad mouse wouldn't work in Windows. It worked when I needed it to input the password to unlock the system, but not in Windows. So I rebooted & same thing. I then rebooted in safe mode & ran Spybot. My computer froze so I took out the battery & restarted it. Black screen come up & said Windows did not start properly & they recommended Startup Repair or run Windows. Regardless of which I do, the startup repair starts & just keeps going. It doesn't actually do anything. The graphic to show it's working keeps running but nothing is actually being done. At one point it said all problems are fixed & rebooted right back to the startup repair. I can't get around it at all, & even tried to run the backup disks, but it won't get past the Startup repair.
i was off line for a while, when i got back on my comp tried to install 1800+ updates and hasnt worked since. startup repair not working. restore, not working. all thats left that i know how to do is reinstall windows7 and i really want to try everythign else first cause i have pics of my son on my comp. no i didnt make a back up and yes i have learnt my lesson

I just finished cleaning my PC of Malware with the help of Gringo over in the Security section and while running a program (TFC) my computer froze twice and when I tried to boot it up started the start-up repair. After it was done some of my programs didn't work correctly. One of them was Windows live essential(MSN messenger & Windows mail) I tried re installing and when tried to install again it gave me an error "Couldn't install programs.
I have searched on this forum and Google to see if others are having the same issue. After updating Windows last week, my computer has been in a consistent state of decline. Today, I powered the CPU down and it will not start-up again. I have attempted to use the windows repair disc, but am now told that startup repair cannot fix my problem.
I recently just starting having this problem in which it states that a specified modual cannot be found when i enter onto desptop?. I have no clue where this came from and it is very annoying. I have attached an image at the bottom of what specifically it states.
Whenever I boot up my computer, I get a message that says
"There was a problem starting 3DLCXtime.dll The specified module could not be found"
The box has an 'OK' button and an x in the top right, I just hit 'OK' and the box goes away and doesn't bug me, but I wish to have it stop, since it kinda worries me that it may be a larger problem that may slowly get bigger.
Everytime I login a popup appears: Quote: There was a problemstarting:C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingMFWMAAECE.dllAccess is denied. I've justuninstalled a program which it might be related to but I haven't had any problems anywhereI've searched for the file in the folder and in start menu and its not coming up with anything.
My daughter has a Toshiba - Windows 7 - when computer is started in comes up with a Startup Repair loop - everything that you try leads you right back to the startup repair. When you f8 it starts the same way - same startup repair error.
I have looked into the startup repair loop problem a bit and have tried the advanced repair option but when it prompts me for a login and password, it only gives the option to log in as "updatususer".
I am not computer savvy when it comes to these sorts of things. The heading states it all and am wanting a bit more of an insight at any problems that may be occurring etc.. Also, as of late I have noticed that my DVD player refuses at times to read a DVD movie or game title, and only after a few open / closes it seems to work. - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - the original installed OS on the system? As Above - an OEM or full retail version? Retail Version
Every time the computer is turned on or restarted it runs Starup Repair. When i look at the diagnosis it says 'boot critical file c:\ci.dll is corrupt'. I have already tried to restore the computer but i don't have the discs where i have backed up the computer. I have also run a virus scan with Avira and it did pick up 4 viruses and i removed them but the error still occurs.
yesterday i was watching a show on my computer (sony vaio) and it kept freezing and lagging and wouldn't restart so i manually restarted it. when i tried to turn it on it would say "starting up windows" but it would take to long and it would restart again with error repair. when i would load error repair it would say it's loading files but only a background screen would show and no files.
my computer, a toshiba satellite L655D-S5159, has been broken recently. At first, I got an infinite startup repair loop, because of a corrupted registry. I checked the registry files and they are all 256kb. I tried to run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f /r, but that didn't do anything. Then I tried to run bootrec rebuildbcd, and now I'm getting error 0xc0000225 at startup.
I go to install the drivers and i reboot, yes i did everything correctly. even tryed vista drivers. I try to open up ATI control panel which is showing that its there and i get an error message. I goto the directx tool and its showing nothing for my display. which is very odd? It shows my card in device manager. Somehow i think my card and the drivers are not connecting. Ive tried to clean install the drivers probably 10 different times and nothing has worked.
ive been having a problem with internet explorer crashing since i bought my laptopim using ie9 and i keep getting the msg saying internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close (i appoligize if its not the exact words). than it closes all my programs down. i dont know if it has to do with another problem i have been having while playing facebook games and watching movies using flash player. right out of the blue my game or movie (whichever im doing) freezes than either says i need to update flashplayer or it just shows a big "!" were my game or movie should be.
ok i had some recent windows updates succesfuly and rebooted, since that at start up im getting "Error msg : Boot configuration data editor has stopped working"any way to sort this ? what cause it ?Have tryed system restore several diffirent restore dates but still the same.
I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".
My computer started to freeze up a lot and now I receive the following error message on startup: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device. Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key."It is a Windows XP OS.
Trying to get windows seven to boot again. Have no installation Disk. Made a recovery disk which has not worked. Tried using super grub boot disk and it did not work. probably messed up the partition order following those instructions. Have Linux Ubuntu 12.04.1LTS installed on separate partition. Have command prompt ability, used bootrec,exe/ RebuildBcd and got total identified windows installations. I'm thinking my best bet is to purchase windows 7 and install clean.
Ever since I bought my new computer and installed Windows 7 64 bit Pro I have noticed that sometimes when I start my computer the startup locks up or crashes, requiring me to restart or it takes me to the system repair screen and running this process does nothing.
I cannot get my computer to restart. It tries to restart but keeps saying that startup repair cannot repair computer automatically. I try to do a system restore but it won't let me do that either
