i use my old nvidia geforce 9600gt card and i am currently making it run with win vista sp1 x86 ultimate.with the superb reviews of windows7 floating,i am thinking of upgrading my OS to win 7.will i be able to run all my older applications and games requiring dx9 and dx10 on a dx11 based OS?...and will my GPU support dx11(since me not knowing the backward compatibilty)

I can't run Bioshock in normal frame rate at all. And when i had Vista and 8800Gts i was running it fine.The games run like a sideshow even in menus/intros/made by etc.I tried installing newest drivers/beta drivers/oldest drivers i could find from Nvidia site. Drivers from Gigabyte site. Clean install after removing drivers with Drive sweeper didn't help. In most games i can switch to dx9 but with Battlefield 3 coming that has no dx9 support I can't even play beta.
I am trying to install an older game on Windows XP SP3 (32bit) using Virtual PC. The game has been installed without any error and running its panel. Now whenever I hit the 'start game' button it says" "No 3D hardware installed in your system."I loaded my laptop drivers into virtual environment but they are unable to be installed.Now please tell me what can I do to run it?
Note: I've Windows 7 64bit and the game has compatibility issues with 64bit system.
I tried to play age of empires on windows 7 and the display is blotched with red dots everywhere in the game. I can play the game but it is really ugly to look at.

However these games are incompatible with Windows 7 64 bit. Does anyone know how I can get these games to run on Win 7 64 bit. Its a shame if I can't since I have enjoyed them all these years. The games initially were issued as WEP 1, 2 and 3 and are as follows:
Blackjet, Winmine (the older minesweeper game), Cruel, Golf (not the golf game), Tetris, Fugigolf, Jezzball, Maxwell, Rodent and Tutstomb.
I would hope Microsoft would reissue these games in their original form but compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. They are not sophisticated, but they are very enjoyable.
I have an HP computer with Windows 7 and a Radeon 7450 video card. Many of the older games only run in a minimized screen, and there is no option for full screen. I need them to run in full full screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Win7 won't let me run certain applications or .exe files, mainly games. Some it does and some it doesn't for no apparent reason. I've got 3 HDDs (2 int, 1 ext) and I've tried running it from all three and still nothing. The same thing happens everytime, I try to run it, the loading icon appears and then nothing. No error message and no apparent cause. My hardware can take it, I've got the correct DX and nothing.I've tried running it as an admin to no avail and I've tried running it in safe mode. When this happened the application loaded but said I needed to get DX 9.0 (Which I have) and enable hardware acceleration (which it is).
View 9 Replies View RelatedLet me first accurately describe what happened. So one of my HDDs failed (I got a new one, a Western Digital Caviar Blue 640gb). I had lot's of applications and games installed on the failed HDD, but nothing important. Now, when I go to re-install those games/apps again, some of them act as if they were installed, and attempt to uninstall (the hard drive failed so it was unable to uninstall the correct way). So, it will not let me re-install those programs, until I uninstall them. They are unable to uninstall because they cannot find "Drive D:," which is the failed drive, and they are probably still somewhere in my computer's registry, but the install directories are gone with the failed drive. How to reinstall my programs again. I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

DX9 versions of these games work fine, but when DX10 is used a single tray popup from any messenger that someone has signed in or out takes me out of fullscreen. Desktop composition visual themes compatibility mode and updating DirectX did not help. Does anyone have any ideas?

I landed here because of a weird issue with my recent upgrade. Once my vista to 7 upgrade was complete I was brought to the user account log on page. One problem. The only account listed is one called "other user" that I never created on vista or 7. Further more it's requiring a user name and password. I had two accounts on vista that don't even exist on 7. I never had a password to any account. I now have a fresh copy of 7 that I can't log on to. Any thoughts?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been using a Java Applet on my notebook, but the other night I was at home without it. So I decided to run it on my desktop instead. When I tried to run the installer for the Applet, my system slowed to a massive crawl. The problem seemed to big to be installer-specific, so I loaded up my E-banking, which uses Java. This didn't just slow my system to a crawl, it down-right froze it, requiring a hard reboot. In short, using Java will freeze or slow down my system massively. I've tried the following myself:
1) Installing latest drivers for my Radeon 4870 video card
2) Uninstall Java, re-install Java
3) Disable Windows Firewall
None of this has worked. I've tried in both Firefox and Chrome, same results, though Firefox seems more prone to the freezing problem.
Performed system restore to factory point when I first recieved the computer. When windows starts, it states that it is rpeparing the system for first time use, however it will get to the welcome screen and prompt for a user name and passwordSystem restore never asked for a user name and password. I tried using the account information from when I setup the computer originally but it does not recognize the username. Also tried to type in administrator for the user name and it says the account has been disabledI have tried to setup user through the command prompt and through the registry using the windows recovery disk. When all this failed I contacted Dell and they said I disabled the admin account during restore (I would like to know how) and I would need the windows installation disk which were not included.

History shows repeated successful completions. Taskeng.exe is trusted in my security system (Comodo) and is running as a programme. Task Scheduler is shown as a Service. I tried scheduling the running of a simple drafting programme that I have (deltacad.exe). The time came and went and nothing appeared to happen. I ran it manually using SCHTASKS.EXE /RUN /TN "task name".
A very brief CMD window opened, and again it looked as if nothing had happened. However when I ran Process Explorer, there were 3 issues of the programme running: apparently one from the scheduled run and the others manual. None of them showed a GUI onscreen, and if I asked to bring the window to the front in Procexp, the option was greyed. running the programme itself, by actually activating it in Windows, resulted in a successful load and run.
I'm using Windows 7 64bit Professional and failed to update x64-based KB2552343. Reported error is Code 800B0100. I strictly followed the solution mentioned What is the System Update Readiness Tool? But nothing changed, still the same error.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a crashed Lacie network storage device, something in it's networking board is fried. It's comprised of 2 separate HDD's, both 500gig. I was afraid they were going to be stripped but it appears they hold their own complete files. I was able to look at the files through a file recovery program on Hiren's bootdisk. Said program was unable to keep file structure however. It seems theres no way to activate it to be read as a disk in windows. Computer management reads both of the disks as having 5 small partitions and a large (476gig) partition on it. No real way to look into that partition though?A couple other programs analyzed the disk and tell me it's 'linux native'. how to pull the files as well as folder structure out of it?

Find a file or folder. By comparison the search companion on XP was much faster and got more relevant results based on file name. If that didn't work there was the option of searching for text within the file. For example I know inside a folder there is a sub folder with the file I am looking for and I know part of the name. Is there a way to make Win 7 search for results based only on the file name? In most cases that would be a lot simpler. Otherwise win 7 will look in the contents of the file which is a time waster.

On each computer, if I minimize a connected AIM, Yahoo, or MSN account.. Also any Telnet connected windows/Telnet based platforms that are currently connected to a server.. After a good 2-4 minutes of being minimized, all programs are disconnected. At first I thought it was an internet problem, but that isn't the case (program(s) run fine without any hiccups as long as its an active window).
