DXdiag Incorrectly Showing DX11 Cards As 10.1 Hotfix
Nov 25, 2009
The DirectX Diagnostics Tool incorrectly reports DirectX 11 devices as DirectX 10.1 devices on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2
When you run the DirectX Diagnostics Tool (Dxdiag.exe) on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the diagnostic tool incorrectly reports a DirectX 11 device as a DirectX 10.1 device. This incorrect version information is shown in the DDI field on the Display tab. This problem is only a reporting error.
This problem does not affect the DirectX 11 hardware or software functionality of the graphics card.
Must provide an email account to request the Hotfix. Extraction of the zipped hotfix requires a password, which will be provided in the email.
I bought this computer and it has Nvidia GeForce GT540m graphics card (i thinks its optimus)but on dxdiag>display it says intel HD graphics family.. wtf?I don't know what is with it but do I not have Nvidia?PS: on some games such a skyrim and oblivion it detected my computer and said i have Nvidia gefore gt540m but I wonder why it doesn't show up on dxdiag as 540 but as intel HD
My OS is Win7x64 IE9. The difficulty I am experiencing has to do with the game of SolitaireAt times the deck acts as if I have double-clicked on it. And when I go to undo it will keep showing the same cards until I persist. Sometimes when the game is ended and I click on "play again" the cards just show up without any shuffle. Tried to find tutorials on similar incidents and found none.[CODE]
I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 that was running vista. i have done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. In Vista I had a Nvidia Graphics card and drivers, but now it shows that I have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, under the device manager. I have downloaded a number of drivers from Nvidia, but all fail, they say there is no device that they are compatible with. Should I re- insatll with the original disk that came with my computer and do a Windows 7 UPGRADE, will that make a difference?
I've been having some bluescreening problems, and this one place I checked told me to install a couple of hotfixes. So I went to the places he indicated, filled in the stuff, got the links for the downloads emailed to me, and when I ran the file I downloaded, it unzipped a number of .sqm files.

I'm usually not so unobservant but I installed the wrong hotfix... I didn't even realize the hotfix I was downloading for for 2002 outlook and I have 2007. I've tried contacting microsoft and resorted to talking to the geek squad at best buy to no avail and I have had no luck google searching the topic. Well I installed the hotfix and now my outlook will not even open and I searching for some help in seeing if this can be undone without reinstalling microsoft office.
I want to use Dungeon&Dragons online in 3-Dimensional setup with IT3Z drivers on ATI RAdeon HD5870 graphic card.IT3Z gives a compatibel 3-D output for DX9 and beta DX10. First I got only error messages, but then installed DX9 in addition to DX11.And know I can use the DX9 ITZ version with windows 7.But I want to use the DX10 beta version, too. But I cant find a DX10 for windows7?
beginning of the week I purchased a new pc with windows 7 home premium sp1 64 bit, I installed my copy of office XP, the first time I loaded word I was asked to download 'Hotfix' I have been searching for this on ms websites but have found nothing that explains what it is, I have received an email from ms which states 'WARNING This hotfix has not undergone full testing.
I just bought a evga 560 1gb ddr5 video card for my system. Windows 7 ultimate, 8gb ram, Intel core2 2.13ghz. I plan on upgrading this year but not too soon due to budget constraints. Anyway, I try running some of my games in directx 11 and the games say that the compatible hardware isn't found. dxdiag says I have directx 11 but the system information says I have dx10. I'm confused as to what's going on since the video card should be compatible. Even says so on the box.
I should also mention I barely updated my video card drivers and directx to the latest versions.
I recently got a copy of Warhammer Dawn of War II. The game seems to be consulting" dxdiag.exe when I adjust the graphics detail of the game. Here is the problem, dxdiag when launched insists on displaying my secondary Intel GPU. My laptop has switchable graphics, but even if I force the usage of the primary Nvidia GPU (GT540M) through the Nvidia control panel it still detects the Intel one.
so the title states everything, basically, when i boot the computer or log on, when i dxdiag, on directdraw acceleration and AGP Texture acceleration states its enabled.a couple games from warcraft 3 playing a game called DOTA, when i alt+tab a couple times to, firefox, or music player then back to warcraft 3, it works perfectly for lets say. maybe 3-4 games then when i alt+tab sometimes, and alt+tab back to warcraft 3, it just stays a blank black screen but doesnt crack, just the game does.then i go back to dxdiag, it now states that directdraw acceleration and AGP Texture acceleration is now Not Available.i dont understand, i never had this problem with XP. please someone help or point me to the right direction. ive been at it since 2am this morning and now its almost 11am. been searching everywhere and no luck.
I don't know what it is but Windows 7 doesn't recognize my graphics card for some reason....... I have scanned several times for driver updates, still nothing seems to fix my problem.I don't know what causes this, dxdiag displays everything else properly as far as I know. [code]
i have win 64 running on my computer.i try and run Direct x diagnostic.i click the 64 bit button and it freezes and crashes.when i try again iget

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and in this case I genuinely can't think how to explain in prose. So please see the link below to a screenshot of the problem.[URL]

As my school project I, with help, have created a remotely controlled real-time closed circuit TV system for the school so that teachers can post messages on TVs, sort of like an information board system. One way to leave a message is through a website with a java applet. The applet we made works fine on windows xp, but works curiously on windows 7. It runs in the browser and asks the client to accept the certificate, but when the user clicks on run the applet doesn't come up. It's there, the buttons come up if you move the mouse pointer over them and the text becomes visible if you press ctrl+a. It works too, all the functions work properly, if you can navigate. It works in windows 7 safe mode though. I've tried turning of services, making a clean boot, running the browser in safe mode and changing the html tags (applet, object, embed) and nothing's working. It's not the firewall or antivirus. It's just something with windows 7. I need to fix it- half the teachers have windows 7.
I've managed to narrow the problem down. The applet apparently works fine in windows 7 with the colors turned down to 16 bits. Doesn't work in 32 bits mode on windows 7, but works in both modes on xp. Now, it's not the graphic card I've tested with others OSs on same computers. Firefox I can set to start in XPsp3 compatibility mode in properties and it works even in 32bit color mode on windows 7. But Internet Explorer can't be set to start in the compatibility mode because it's part of this version of windows Due to this undesirable problem I will have to configure computers of the entire staff. I've even tried tweaking with the graphic card properties hoping there'd be a box to uncheck somewhere. Without positive outcome. Switching all computers to 16-bit mode seems pretty intrusive as it disables Windows Live Thumbnails and Aero Peak. I'm looking for a way to make it work for the teachers without them having to edit advanced settings or decreasing functionality of their computers. If there is an advanced setting to be changed, the schools computer service will do it.
I'm having a bit of trouble with a desktop icon that is displaying incorrectly.Basically when the shortcut is placed on the desktop, the shortcut icon is displaying a different icon that what it should, however, if I then drag the shortcut into say, a folder, the shortcut icon is then correct.I have tried:
Deleting the Thumbs.db Deleting the Icon Cache & Restarting Re-installing the Software
This is only apparent on one of my windows 7 machines, on the other three machines I have the problem does not occur.
My computer was blue screening. I had a warranty RMA through my manufacturer and I just got it back, fixed. However since then, my Logitech X-530 5.1 surround speakers have been messed up. Initially I thought the front two were not working, but when I was testing I found the Left Rear works and the Right Rear sound comes through the Front Left speaker. The Subwoofer is fine, but the Right Front and Rear have no sound. To be more clear, when my realtek audio manager tests the front two speakers, there is zero sound. When it checks the LR it comes through the LR fine, but the RR comes through the LF speaker. I've unplugged, checked wires, made sure everything was plugged in correctly, and I reinstalled my realtek HD audio driver also.s.

Annoying intemittent fault whereby the monitor is incorrectly detected as a generic model instead of an LG L192WS and the screen resolution changes to a lower setting which loses a large percentage of the desktop. I've updated to the latest AMD drivers as that seemed to work for others with a similar problem but to no avail. it takes 5 mouse clicks to open desktop and reset the display to the correct one, but after spending quite a bit to speed up my system I begrudge the time!
can't seem to find a way to permanently fix it. The problem is that Windows 7 doesn't display Japanese fonts and instead just displays squares. I've tried deleting the font cache and letting Windows rebuild that. Worked for about 2 restarts and then the fonts weren't being displayed anymore.I've tried changing the system locale (for non-unicode programs). That fixes it but I get yen symbols instead of forward slashes in file paths, as well as other symbols being replaced. Creating a new user account seems to fix things but I'm the only one that uses my computer so having another account and having to select my own account on login is annoying. I have the Japanese keyboard added as well as Microsoft IME.I've found that just restarting a few times normally gets the fonts to display correctly but most times that I boot up the fonts aren't displayed correctly.
Specs: Windows 7 Pro 64bit (had the same problem in 32-bit W7 Pro) 8GB RAM i5-2500k @ 3.3 GHz Programs where fonts don't display correctly: uTorrent, Foobar, windows explorer
And before someone mentions language packs and the Ultimate version of 7, no, I don't want to change my input language. I would just like to display Japanese. This can, and has been, done in the professional version.
My internet explorer browser (I believe I have 9 version installed) does not display some web pages properly in Windows 7. These same web pages have no problems when displayed through Google Chrome. I have tried to re-install the browser to no avail. Curiously, this happened after my wireless router had stopped connecting to the internet and I had to unplug the modem/router, restart the computer..I am sure I am overlooking something very simple to correct this.
in the notification area on my task bar the wireless internet icon is displayed as a wired connection. This problem isn't huge but having the correctly icon be displayed would be nice.
I know this is nitpicky and rather insane but i have a sata 3 hard drive using a sata 3 cable plugged into a sata 3 controller and windows only rates my HDD transfer rate as 5.9 (eg sata 2) and i know this is nitpicky but what do i need to do to fix that
My rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that.
