Dec 24, 2012According to Device Manager I have 3 graphics cards and 1 of them doesn't look good. It damn surely is not an official thing, so what to do?

Jun 27, 2011I have been taking apart computers for parts and am learning some things about computers.I understand a fair bit about computers.I was just wondering how I can identify my graphics card as in Device Manager, it displays "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter".I am sure it displayed something different before I upgraded to Windows 7. I think I may be missing a driver.
Either way, I used to have Windows XP and the game I wish to play worked then, now I have upgraded, it no longer works. This could be because the driver for the graphics card was erased. I am using whatever card comes with this computer, as I have left it unaffected since the purchase of the computer, and all I have altered is the disc drive and hard drive.Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7, the game won't start and it gives me a graphics error "We are sorry, but the operating system failed to provide the window to render the game graphics in. Please consult the game manual for known workarounds that might improve the game's compatibility with your hardware.". This is for the game "18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul". I have checked and this game is compatible with Windows 7.
Wireless Mouse Showing Code 10 In Device Manager Window?
Apr 30, 2012I got this PC 3 weeks ago. For two days now Several of my devices have a Code 10 on start up. For instance my mouse in the Device Manager window has a code 10 and will not work until I use the trouble shooter and it re-installs the driver. I have tried updating the USB drivers as many recommend but there were no updates. I tried Microsoft's fix it, and it was not fixed.

Aug 10, 2012I'm using an Alienware M17x R4 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660m.
I've been using this laptop for about 3 months now and everything has been running fine. Yesterday, I was playing Skyrim testing out a new mod from nexusmods. I've read on the description and comments and there were no problems associated with the mod. While I was using it a received a BSOD. When I restarted the computer my resolution was reset. I right clicked on the desktop and the options for my Nvidia control panel were gone along with the other options for the Intel Graphics control panel.
After a while my first display adapter came back which was the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I looked up as much as I could about the problem and it was usually associated with the display adapters being reverted to something like Standard VGA Adapter. This applied to the Intel graphics, but that was all. It was as if my graphics card vanished and I can't find it under device manager. When I try installing/reinstalling the Nvidia drivers it says that there is no Nvidia hardware. I've tried waiting a couple of hours with the laptop shut down, finding it in safemode, and searched for even more solutions. I can't seemed to find any. The last thing I did was check the BIOS and it said that the Discrete Graphics Card was not detected.

Jan 25, 2013HeI am at wits end here trying to figure out how to fix this pc. A friend came to me with the Acer Aspire One D255E with a wireless internet issue. The PC is Running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. I immediately thought "well there must be a switch that she turned off" There is no switch on the computer for the wireless card. I thought "well there must be a driver issue, Ill go to the device manager and update the driver for it". Then when I got to the device manager... Nothing shows up for a wireless lan card even existing in the laptop, but I know it does, because A) It's a "net Book" B) she was using the internet last week. So, I thought maybe it's not showing up because thee computer needs the drivers for it first, which is unusual, but since its windows 7 starter I thought it needed a kick in the rear to get it goin. So i downloaded all the drivers for the PC using a different computer, and installed the different drivers to see which one would work. Well none of them worked, and now im sitting here scratching my head on what to do next. I have scoured the web and seen a few other people with issues like this.

Oct 13, 2009I run a Nvidia GTX 275 Works flawlessly even if i use both ports on the back to use dual monitors.
If however i plug my Nvidia 8800GT in the second PCI-E x16 Slot the computer only recognizes the 8800GT which is in the second port and there is no GTX 275 showing in the Device Manager or Boot Menu.
So basically i plug in my second video card and my primary card just vanishes from the computer like its not even there.
Has anyone got an idea what could be the cause of this?
I have checked the drivers and its the same drivers at the moment for the 8800GT and the GTX 275.
I want to be able to run my 19" Widescreen Monitor on my GTX 275 and use my 8800GT Card for my tiny 15" Screen so i can play Games on my Primary card and be able to have Website open and viewable all the same.
(I'm not trying to run SLi as i know you need 2 of the same GPU and your motherboard needs to be able to support it, I don't like SLi so its all good so far.)
Multiple Graphics Cards
Feb 9, 2009I currently have an ATI RADEON HD 4850 in my computer, but i have an old Nvidia 6600.. something laying around. I was wondering if it would be possible to drop that in my system and use it purely for additional monitors. I dont mean to link it with my ati card cause i know that that wont work, but basically keep it separate to run a few more moniters.

ATI Reduces Support For Older Graphics Cards
Mar 5, 2009As time goes on and a product catalog grows, it's not unusual for a company to reduce and eventually eliminate support for older products. In the case of ATI, AMD's graphics division, a new decision to reduce support for older graphics chips is about to take effect. To date, ATI has provided a new WHQL certified driver every month to nearly every graphics card capable of DirectX 9 acceleration. That includes cards all the way back to 2002's Radeon 9700 Pro. After this month's Catalyst 9.3 release, that will not be the case.
After Catalyst 9.3, products prior to the R6xx generation of graphics cards (that go by the Radeon HD 2000 series brand names) will be changed to "legacy support status." This means that these products will get quarterly WHQL driver updates, instead of monthly updates. AMD assures us that these products will still receive critical "hotfix" drivers if high-priority fixes are needed.

This problem does not affect the DirectX 11 hardware or software functionality of the graphics card.

Windows 7 Usb Camera Device Shows Up In Device Manager But Not Computer
May 31, 2012Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
