in the notification area on my task bar the wireless internet icon is displayed as a wired connection. This problem isn't huge but having the correctly icon be displayed would be nice.
View 4 RepliesI'm having a bit of trouble with a desktop icon that is displaying incorrectly.Basically when the shortcut is placed on the desktop, the shortcut icon is displaying a different icon that what it should, however, if I then drag the shortcut into say, a folder, the shortcut icon is then correct.I have tried:
Deleting the Thumbs.db
Deleting the Icon Cache & Restarting
Re-installing the Software
This is only apparent on one of my windows 7 machines, on the other three machines I have the problem does not occur.
the internet access icon bars on taskbar not displayed they have been replaced by a screen and plug icon. How do I get the bars back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy internet explorer browser (I believe I have 9 version installed) does not display some web pages properly in Windows 7. These same web pages have no problems when displayed through Google Chrome. I have tried to re-install the browser to no avail. Curiously, this happened after my wireless router had stopped connecting to the internet and I had to unplug the modem/router, restart the computer..I am sure I am overlooking something very simple to correct this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear WN111 USB wireless adaptor on my PC (802.11n NIC). It works fine with my WiFi network, but it always displays the wrong icon in the System Tray when connected. It shows the signal bars greyed out, with a yellow star on top. I have tried a Windows update on the driver, but Windows (7 ultimate) says it's using the latest driver.
Netgear only have a Vista driver for this NIC, tried this to no avail, same problem. I have no other NICs enabled on the box (wired Ethernet port disabled in BIOS and nothing in Device Manager). I have googled this issue and I'm not alone (and it's not just Netgear NICs affected). However all the solutions say remove & re-install the device. Done this, and it's made no difference.
For the past few days, I have been on a intermittent wireless connection. Under the wireless network icon, there's an ! mark, I tried to solve it using Microsoft diagnosis, but it didn't work. I switched off Microsoft Miniport Adapter too, didn't work as well. I Pinged my own connection using Command Prompt and the results were fine. For a limited random number of sites, I am still able to access. I tried Torrenting and it still works too.

I recently reformatted my primary HD and have come back to realize than my PC is not longer able to detect my Ethernet cable. I've tried to sort this problem out from device manager but network adapter no longer shows up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.Have 7 standard users created in the User Accounts. Only 5 user icons displaying on welcome screen. All 7 users are required to and do have passwords set.Creating a new user does not add that new user to the welcome screen.Deleting a user does not move one of the other users onto the welcome screen..it reduced the number of user icons to 4.All users have valid User directories and if I force the login prompt instead of icons, they can login successfully.This happened about a week ago and may be the result of some software my son installed. Not sure.There is not an "Other User.." icon...just 5 valid user icons with 2 missing.

Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.

Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. I can't figure out how to make it go back to the way it was where everything stayed within the silver icon.

When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. I've checked it with the netbook plugged in and on battery power and have the same issue

On my xp laptop I can left click on the battery in the taskbar and choose always on, presentation, ect. My desktop has Windows 7 x64, and I can't enable the power icon on the taskbar (Its grayed out in the "turn system icons on or off" ). I have so many of them and my taskbar have already two rows and sometimes when I open programs or whatever else that is NOT included as a shortcut button on the taskbar, it takes extra space at which point the taskbar becomes scrollable with 3 rows. Not a good thing. I hate it with a passion. Yes I could make my task bar with 3 rows, but no, I don't like to waste my precious screen space. So basically I'd like to to make these icons a little smaller, kind of like the QuickLaunch icons.
