Change The Icon Of Running Programs On The Taskbar?

My desktop has a black/white theme and I want to change the icons of running programs on the taskbar to match my theme. However, it only seems to work for some programs. I want to change my Google Chrome from the default rainbow to a white version. I have done it once and the taskbar chrome was white, but after about a week, it reverted back to the rainbow wheel. How do I change it back to my other icon

There is a nice range of icons for windows 7, but there were a few that I really liked in windows vista ultimate that I don't seem to be able to find.

One of which that I can remember is the network icon, in vista you could right click, change icon... and I remember being able to select an network icon that was like two monitors stacked on top of each other creating 4 montiors total, and at the bottom was just like any other vista-windows 7 network icon, a connector tube.

I am unable to find this icon to change the desktop icon for "network" in windows 7, does anyone know the icon I am talking about, and any way to download or obtain it in some other way to use?

I currently have two Windows 7 Home Premium computers on a small home network, and I would like to be able to change the folder icon of one computer from the other computer on the network. Normally, if I go into properties of a folder, I am able to change the icon. But I noticed that this option disappears for folders in shared drives on the network.

I noticed this phenomenon also occurs in previous versions of Windows as well.

I installed a wireless laser printer. To install...you must connect locally with a USB cable to enter the wireless network's password. This process installed a printer locally and the associated icon was the correct icon. I then set it up wirelessly and when it completed...the icon looked like a fax machine.

The icon I want to use exists somewhere.

1) How do I tell what icon is being used for a device

my Acer Aspire running Win 7 has stopped showing the audio icon on the Taskbar. Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.

Something weird has happened to my taskbar. I have a few programs pinned there and everything was okay. Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. I can't figure out how to make it go back to the way it was where everything stayed within the silver icon.

When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. I need a way to easily set my power options on my Desktop, i.e. the time it takes to go to sleep mode or screen saver ect. On my xp laptop I can left click on the battery in the taskbar and choose always on, presentation, ect. My desktop has Windows 7 x64, and I can't enable the power icon on the taskbar (Its grayed out in the "turn system icons on or off" ). Is there any way to enable it or a shortcut to the power plan selections in Windows 7 on a desktop?

I reinstalled a Windows 7 OS, and now the volume icon has disappeared from the taskbar. The only way I can adjust the volume is to go into Control Panel. I found the "turn system icons on or off" window, and although the volume icon says "show icon and notifications," it's not on the taskbar, so I don't know what more to do.
