View 1 Repliesin the notification area on my task bar the wireless internet icon is displayed as a wired connection. This problem isn't huge but having the correctly icon be displayed would be nice.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOnce I've started my computer the "Network" icon is kind of "searching" but after a while it becomes red like I have no internet access. But I do got internet, I can go the internet but I can't open anything in the start menu. Then after a while again, the icon becomes "normal" and everything works fine. The code I get when I troubleshoot is "0x80070426" and the troubleshooter wont start. This is kind of annoying, I am using Windows 7 ultimate.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I got a new computer recently and it worked great on my campus' Wi-Fi network for about a week. Then all of a sudden the stability of my connection dropped down to nothing. For the past several days, I have barely been able to get on the Internet at all and my Wi-Fi signal can never make it above two bars. My roommates' computers and my own MacBook and iOS devices have no problems at all. This problem has been driving me crazy because the primary purpose of this new computer is multiplayer gaming, which of course is the one thing it CAN'T do is play online games. Can anyone think of any client-side reason why the Wi-Fi on a brand new computer would just spontaneously combust, or is this just something I need to talk about with the network administration on my campus?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble with a desktop icon that is displaying incorrectly.Basically when the shortcut is placed on the desktop, the shortcut icon is displaying a different icon that what it should, however, if I then drag the shortcut into say, a folder, the shortcut icon is then correct.I have tried:
Deleting the Thumbs.db
Deleting the Icon Cache & Restarting
Re-installing the Software
This is only apparent on one of my windows 7 machines, on the other three machines I have the problem does not occur.
For the last 3 months my internet keeps dropping in and out, sometimes for a long period of time. But it always shows full bars in the wireless network connection on our computers. I have been on the phone to the internet company for hours and hours (each time speaking to a different person-so no help there) and they can't figure out what is wrong.
They sent me a new modem which worked for 10 mintues and then was dropping in and out again. The same issue is happening on my roommate's computer too, and I am able to access other wireless networks in other locations too with no trouble. So not an issue with our computers.
My internet explorer browser (I believe I have 9 version installed) does not display some web pages properly in Windows 7. These same web pages have no problems when displayed through Google Chrome. I have tried to re-install the browser to no avail. Curiously, this happened after my wireless router had stopped connecting to the internet and I had to unplug the modem/router, restart the computer..I am sure I am overlooking something very simple to correct this.
View 1 Replies View Related[code] I never had this issue on Windows Vista, occasionally my internet will randomly dropout. Limited Internet Access". When it does I can do a few things to get it working again:
- Disable, then enable my wireless card and reconnect.
- Uninstall the card, then re-install and reconnect.
- Disconnect from the internet myself and reconnect.
Either way it gets super frustrating. There is 1 other computer plugged directly into the router that does not experience any issues. In addition, I have 1 laptop (windows 7) that works great and 1 laptop (Windows XP) which works great.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.Have 7 standard users created in the User Accounts. Only 5 user icons displaying on welcome screen. All 7 users are required to and do have passwords set.Creating a new user does not add that new user to the welcome screen.Deleting a user does not move one of the other users onto the welcome screen..it reduced the number of user icons to 4.All users have valid User directories and if I force the login prompt instead of icons, they can login successfully. This happened about a week ago and may be the result of some software my son installed. Not sure. There is not an "Other User.." icon...just 5 valid user icons with 2 missing.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy Acer Aspire running Win 7 has stopped showing the audio icon on the Taskbar. Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomething weird has happened to my taskbar. I have a few programs pinned there and everything was okay. Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. I can't figure out how to make it go back to the way it was where everything stayed within the silver icon.
