I have lost the IE icon from the dropdown taskbar on my Sony Vaio laptop.I have tried the other suggestions on this site but nothing seems to work. All I get when I try to right click and open on Explorer is library information.

Is it possible to have the Drive icon DIRECTLY on the taskbar instead of pinned to the Explorer icon? I am actually having trouble filling my taskbar and I would like to be able to use all three drive icons. I would also like to be able to put folders directly on the taskbar, too.

I placed the Internet Explorer (32 bit) icon on the start menu but it displays only a generic icon.Internet Explorer 64 bit is ok.) I did some playing around and have gotten the proper icon to display in the start menu but it still displays the generic icon in the task bar.I tried deleting the IconCache.db in the username folder but it did no good.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.

In the lefthand section of the desktop lower panel, There were a number of icon shortcuts for opening programs."Start", "Windows Internet Explorer", "Windows Explorer", and one that opened up a window allowing to select various items including the pc webcam program. This last icon has disappeared, most likely due to some function I performed (and shouldn't have).

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll my desktop icons are missing, no start button or task bar.The only way I can access my computer is via safe mode.Two things happened this morning so I am not sure which one is the culprit. Firstly I had an update from Java.Then I shut my computer down and went to bed.During the night, my UPS board starting beeping. We were having power problems, I think a brown out.The power went out completely then all my other electronics like my tv, kettle, washing machine etc, starting working properly again.So I can't say whether it was the power problem that has caused this or the Java update. I have done a system restore which didn't help. I have done Windows+R and typed in 'explorer.exe"..which only gave me a black screen. I have run all antivirus programs and nothing is being picked up.

Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. On my xp laptop I can left click on the battery in the taskbar and choose always on, presentation, ect. My desktop has Windows 7 x64, and I can't enable the power icon on the taskbar (Its grayed out in the "turn system icons on or off" ).
