View 3 Replies View RelatedSystem HP Desktop Compaq 500B MT with Windows 7 pro I have successfully downloaded and installed I.E. 9. and everything appears to work correctly. However when go to Favorites -> Organize favorites I get the message: "error 55, object doesn't support property or method New Folder'.This is not a serious problem but just may indicate other problems - hence I would like to fix it. I have downloaded a fresh copy of I.E. 9 and tried to install it but get the message that a later version is already installed.

I had my Vista computer's hard drive crash! Fortunately I have a full back up of my data. Purchases new computer with Windows 7 64 bit O/S. A couple of data transfer issues:
-How do I transfer my favourites from backup to the Explorer 9 favourites?
-How do I transfer my old e-mail messages to a new e-mail programme.
The little icons beside each of my favorites are starting to get scrambled - the icon from one site will appear as the icon for another site. I've tried going into Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and resetting Internet Explorer settings, but that didn't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm talking about the favorites meny that you see on the left side when you open windows explorer. The favorites bar had my favorite folder and most recent places, that used to quickly open folders. Now when I click on the arrow to see the drop down, nothing happens, the arrows goes away...the favorites is just there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just completed running a full backup of my PC onto an external drive using Windows Backup. When I went into IE (I'm running IE8 on Windows 7) all my dozens of favourites had vanished!I only have one used account on the PC as only I use it, so I an not in another account.I tried restoring favourites from the backup - the process tells me the files are already there, do I want to overwrite them - so I said yes, but they are still not visible in IE (I only get "Add to favourites", "Organise favourites" options when I click on the favourites tab).I tried doing a system restore, to a point before the backup, but that has made no difference.Obviously the favourites are there somewhere, as they are in the backup, but how on earth do I get them back into my Browser where I can use them?? (Come to that, how on earth can doing a backup have caused them to vanish??)
PS - I've just checked in Windows Explorer - in Users> Helen > Favorites they are all there, all 700 files in 64 folders - so why are they not showing in Internet Explorer where they should be?
I reset my default and lost all of my favorites!

1. I would like to know if there is a way to get the Favorites that is in the left hand navigation panel on the Windows Explorer toolbar beside "Organize.....Open....New folder" (or the very least in the "File....Edit...Tools....View...Help" Menu bar)
2. Is there a way to get the Up functionality in Windows Explorer itself without replacing the Explorer with Classic Shell & the likes?
3. Can I somehow highlight the Parent Folder in the Windows Explorer address bar? That would make navigating extremely easier.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm not entirely sure how to say this. Its a tiny issue that I'm not sure if its a feature or a bug my windows has developed. Anytime I add a Favorite in IE9, I notice my desktop refreshes (Assuming this is Explorer refreshing)
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs the title states Explorer is bogged down when the folders have a large number of items in them (over 500). I have searched multiple places and this topic is brought up regularly but too few solutions. The only bit of information I have is that when I view the same folder from the Computer link (in the Navigation pane) it does not slow down when I open the folder. It instantly populates the window with the folder contents.I think this is because the libraries and Favorites are virtual folders??? I don't know why this would cause Windows Explorer to freeze up for 10 seconds to display the folder contents but it is incredibly frustrating. Moving files between folders can be time consuming and has forced me to completely abandon the Libraries & Favorites.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been unable to copy and paste or drag and drop files in Windows explorer for a few weeks. The problem is as far as I can tell limited to copying and moving files. These functions work just fine in other programs.
I can copy and paste text just fine, and I can drag a file from a .rar archive to the desktop. I can however NOT drag and drop files from the desktop to a folder.
If I try to copy and paste using Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V or the right click menu all I get is some noise from the hard drive and no other reaction.
EDIT: Copying and pasting files works in safe mode.

I keep losing the icons in Explorer, even with a fresh install of Windows 7. It takes some time, but sooner or later they disappear. It's always Internet Explorer first (associated with .mht files) and now I've lost Chrome (associated with .htm).
Rebuilding the Windows 7 icon cache has not worked in the past.
