These two favorites won't stay put. I want it so that Norton forum is on the top and Tech Outpost is on the bottom. I couldn't get them to "harden." I tried to delete those two and put them back again. This worked until I shut down the PC and rebooted it. Clicking on the favorite labeled Norton forumsClicking on Tech Outpost:Notice how the two entries change place.List of user software (present on both PC):
System HP Desktop Compaq 500B MT with Windows 7 pro I have successfully downloaded and installed I.E. 9. and everything appears to work correctly. However when go to Favorites -> Organize favorites I get the message: "error 55, object doesn't support property or method New Folder'.This is not a serious problem but just may indicate other problems - hence I would like to fix it. I have downloaded a fresh copy of I.E. 9 and tried to install it but get the message that a later version is already installed.
I had my Vista computer's hard drive crash! Fortunately I have a full back up of my data. Purchases new computer with Windows 7 64 bit O/S. A couple of data transfer issues:
-How do I transfer my favourites from backup to the Explorer 9 favourites? -How do I transfer my old e-mail messages to a new e-mail programme.
The little icons beside each of my favorites are starting to get scrambled - the icon from one site will appear as the icon for another site. I've tried going into Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and resetting Internet Explorer settings, but that didn't work.
I changed the icon of my windows explorer and pinned it back to my toolbar, after that, it kept the original icon, and then a few hours later I looked and it was changed to the one I chose. I was super happy but after I rebooted my computer, it changed back :/I thought i remembered seeing a thread on how to change it but I couldnt find it, if there is one could someone direct me there please?and another thing
i jsut moved the Desktop folder to a different drive cause i didnt want it to be on the SSD. i moved everything but from when i did this i cant add shortcuts to the explorer's left panel. ill show you a pic. http://imageshack.us/f/7/catturagy.png/ Under ''Preferiti'
I upgraded my Vista Ultimate installation to Windows Seven Ultimate. I am using RTM version 7600.
I have tried on several occasions to pin some folders to explorer. The pinning works fine and they will stay there until I reboot the machine, at which point when I right click the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar, the pins have now disappeared? This is rather annoying as I use a number of different folders and on my old Vista installation I had taskbar shortcuts for each folder.
1. I would like to know if there is a way to get the Favorites that is in the left hand navigation panel on the Windows Explorer toolbar beside "Organize.....Open....New folder" (or the very least in the "File....Edit...Tools....View...Help" Menu bar)
2. Is there a way to get the Up functionality in Windows Explorer itself without replacing the Explorer with Classic Shell & the likes?
3. Can I somehow highlight the Parent Folder in the Windows Explorer address bar? That would make navigating extremely easier.
In explorer, i have a few folders on the left pane like, downloads, dropbox, desktop etc how do i add my main folder, which has my pictures, documents etc in it
how do I get favorites listed in the toolbar? I used to have the word favorites and all I had to do was click on it to add to it Now,there is just the star for favorites and clicking just has a drop down menu and does not have a way to add something to favoriotes.
As the title states Explorer is bogged down when the folders have a large number of items in them (over 500). I have searched multiple places and this topic is brought up regularly but too few solutions. The only bit of information I have is that when I view the same folder from the Computer link (in the Navigation pane) it does not slow down when I open the folder. It instantly populates the window with the folder contents.I think this is because the libraries and Favorites are virtual folders??? I don't know why this would cause Windows Explorer to freeze up for 10 seconds to display the folder contents but it is incredibly frustrating. Moving files between folders can be time consuming and has forced me to completely abandon the Libraries & Favorites.
So here is the deal: about 6 months ago I purchased a brand new laptop and connected it to my DLink router that has been working on our PC for about 3 years now. I also have 2 Playstations and 2 other laptops connected to the D Link (all of which are working fine and NEVER have any problems whatsoever). About 3 weeks ago, I turned my laptop on and tried going online, but much to my surprise, it couldnt connect. Its supposed to automatically connect, but this time it didnt. I figured I would manually connect it. I opened up the window that displays all the routers that the laptop is picking up and i saw my D Link so I try to connect. It attempts, then says "connected" and the after 3 seconds or so, it says "Limited Access". I thought it was a problem with the internet so I checked the other laptops in the house and the Playstation and they are all working fine. I figured it was my laptop so I shut it off and restarted it but it did not work. Next, I tried unplugging the router and waited for 2 minutes or so and plugged it back in. Yay! It worked! I solved the problem! I began surfing the internet for a couple hours when, BAM! It suddenly went out again. I figured I would unplug the router once again to see if it was just some kind of glitch and would work fine this time. I unplug it and repeat the process over again. after 2 hours, it goes out. Everything else in this house seems to be working just fine on the router with no problems whatsoever, except mine. I have not messed with any of the configurations because I have not idea where to even begin so I know it cant be with the configurations. My laptop is new with windows 7, I'm using xfinity as a provider.
Side note- I did a test and when I cant connect to the internet with my laptop it fails a "PING" test (no idea what that is), but when I unplug and plug up the router and the internet is fine on the laptop, it will pass the "PING" test.
Windows Explorer ( not internet Explorer) starts up when I turn on my computer ( without my request). This just started to occur yesterday. It must be in some startup menu . Where do I look for this to remove it ?
I have Windows 7 on my computer. Can anyone tell me the difference between Start/favorites and the Favorites toolbar which is the third toolbar on top of the screen?
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates
Where in the world is IE hiding? It doesn't show up under "Programs." When I search for it, up come sub-titles.I allowed Windows Updates to install IE 9 just a couple days ago. Is this the problem?
I run a comp with vista on but my wife as windows 7 she likes to do jigsaws to relax but when she goes to her favourit site only the adds come on the rest is blank. I logged on with vista it said do you want explorer to allow this site clicked yes everthing was ok but I could not get windows 7 to do the same how can I get her internet explorer to allow this site she as used it for years and had no problems but she was using vista then.
I normally use Mozilla Firefox but an upgrade programme I recently downloaded needs IE to install. IE couldn't display the webpage so I downloaded and installed IE9 On running there was a script error. Line 1, Char 1, Error 'Components is undefined', Code 0 and URL chrome://simppulltoolbar/content/lib/external.js. I selected Yes to continue running scripts. Then came this error. IE cannot display the webpage. I selected Diagnose Connection Problems but Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.
The internet explorer in my laptop is too slow to open. I was browsing the google and came across this site. I have MacFee installed on my lappy. Ran it and found no issues. Downloaded Hijackthis as recommended by this forum admin and here is the log file.

Got a problem with IE. I get a window saying that IE has a problem and gives an option to let the internet find a solution. This does not seem to help any. I can get out of it and keep going , but the same window will keep reappearing.
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Windows Explorer issue, not Internet Explorer. In my folder tree, there was a folder named "Documents" which contained no information at all. Note: I am not referring to the Libraries folder named "Documents!"All of my files are in custom-named folders, each of which is preceded by my 3-letter, initials caps. But, after deleting that redundant, empty folder named "Documents," Windows added a new bizzarre folder which I cannot get rid of. It has no information in it; it has no other right-click options except "Expand," and clicking that option doesn't do anything at all. There is no information in that folder.
It was running fine before, but now it keeps freezing up and I get an error box at the bottom of the screen and I have to click "Recover Webpage" or something to that effect. The problem is that barely works and the tab ends up closing completely or the whole browser freezes. I don't know if this is an issue with the actual browser or with Windows itself cause as I said before, it was working fine until recently. I know the Windows updates have kinda screwed me up in the past though.
I have recently purchased a new pc with win7 64bit and it has ie8. Though everthing is working fine but the ie is very very slow.Hardly any page opens.
When I try to start up Internet Explorer I get a blank IE window and a popup message that says "Internet Explorer has stopped working." Firefox works, however, and with the assistance of the IE Tab add-on, I'm able to use the IE engine from within FF.
Internet explorer keeps freezing (when using just hotmail). Simple tasks (writing an email) cannot even be completed. I can open MS Word, but then it keeps freezing too.I have received numerous failure messages including:The instrument at 0X00000000724B97DD referenced memory at 0X0000000031A9830 [not sure about that group of the exact # of that long group of zeroes]. The required data not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0XC000018S.Even in Safe Mode Explorer froze. I tried restoring to an earlier date but it wasn't possible. It said no restore date is set. When I tried to set one, it didn't work.Another message I received: A writer did not respond to a GatherWriterStatus call. Check System Application event logs (0x80042319).Another: wermgr.exe error.I manually shut down the computer numerous times to attempt to restart and resolve the problem, but Windows keeps freezing, as does MS Word. I ran a daignostic test and it discovered no problems.
I have an issue I've never been faced with. Have a coumputer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. There is no internet explorer icon in the start menu or anywhere else. I installed IE9 and rebooted the machine, still no icons. I looked in prorgram files and program files (x86) and each have a folder for internet explorer.....but neither have a exe file. I went into control panel and clicked on programs and features and then turn windows features on and off. IE9 is listed there. I removed the check and applied. It goes through the motions of uninstalling but when it's done it says it could not remove it all. I rebooted but when I went back in IE9 was still listed and checked. I tried to uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro.......but it does not show IE9 as being installed
