someone clicked on my bluetooth icon by mistake and it has disappeared from the taskbar area. It is still in the add and remove programs area but there is not option to repair.I use it regularly to upload my pictures from my phone so am desperate to have it back. I have a Dell Inspiron notebook and am using windows 7.
deleting a icon from my notification icon area, i have recently uninstalled the program, and the notification is still there. the program is called Hide My Ip and i used it once and hated it.
New to Windows 7, like it a lot, but I have one thing that is driving me batty. On the taskbar, in the notification area, I have many of the standard Windows system icons, volume, power settings, wifi, hidden icons, etc. When I try to access the options in those popup notifications. the notification disappears so quickly that I don't even have time to get my cursor on it. Maybe one in five tries I can get on it before it folds, but for practical purposes trying to use those icons is hopeless. It seems like the 'puter or the OS is just too fast.I found one crackbrain suggestion to take out the battery (I have a laptop) and to press the power button a few times, and them replace battery and boot. Naturally, that solution didn't work, but I tried it anyway. There is also a suggestion about using the Ease of Use to set a time for notifications that doesn't do it. The notification area doesn't play by those rules. 5 seconds? I can't get 1/5 of a second.
No matter how I try to access the Icon Notification Area to customize hidden task bar icons, Win 7 freezes to a great extent. I am running 64 bit Win 7 SP1.
Under these conditions, when I put my pointer onto the task bar it changes into a hand with a pointing index finger. The Icon Notification Area will not show icons and all I get there is an interminable spinning blue circle.
The Task Manager will not correct this condition and I have to close my windows session manually with the power button. It seems something has been corrupted but I am at a loss. I have run chkdsk /f and sfc to no good effect.
I am running some 32 bit programs including MS Office Pro.
So about right now I feel like throwing this rig off a bridge.
I am simply trying to find my missing icon for the local area connection that goes to my Mb Ethernet . I need to change the ip. It was around before but has gone missing.
I was trying to link up a network computer before and it all went down hill.
I have several applications in the Notification Area (some call "system tray"). Can anybody tell me how I can access them using Speech recognition?
I do not mean by saying "mousegrid" etc. and drilling down, but wonder if there is a command that I have not found that relates specifically to the Notification Area.
where is the General Tab In this Network adapter? Also, I couldn't find that check box for Display Network Icon on the Taskbar? Where can I find it? Is something wrong with my new installation of windows 7?
I like to enable the Guest Account on my Windows 7 computer so that my family can also use my PC for simple web surfing.
One thing that I have noticed in Windows 7 is that when in the guest account no network icon appears in the notification area (aka system tray) to tell you the status of the network connection. This is particularly annoying for me as our wireless network connection can be flaky at times (I blame the neighbours!) and it is good to be able to see the status.
Does anyone know how to enable the network status icon in the guest account?
New to Windows 7, I'd like to gain some screen space by hiding the Bing bar and seeing only the Google screen. But then there is no email icon. My email is from Outlook.com, with an @msn.com address. Is there a way to add an icon to the Google screen so I can go to my email with a single click?
In the lefthand section of the desktop lower panel, There were a number of icon shortcuts for opening programs."Start", "Windows Internet Explorer", "Windows Explorer", and one that opened up a window allowing to select various items including the pc webcam program. This last icon has disappeared, most likely due to some function I performed (and shouldn't have).
I have lost the icon for my favorite game. I do not have a OS disk. It did not come with the computer. I would like to recover the icon for that program. Where do I look
Windows 7 - 64-bit. When I click on Windows Explorer>Desktop etc at top right, there's an down arrow which allows choice of Icons: large/medium etc and List/Details. When I click on the arrow all I get is a blank 'roll-down' and of course no choices.
Lost My computer icon on the Win 7 desktop. None of the usual solutions are returning it...such as selecting it from the Start Menu to show on desktop or Control Panel to Personalization, or reapplying defaults.
I have lost the IE icon from the dropdown taskbar on my Sony Vaio laptop.I have tried the other suggestions on this site but nothing seems to work. All I get when I try to right click and open on Explorer is library information.
Vista allowed the contents of a window to be sorted by name, date modified, etc in any view -- but it appears Windows 7 drops that menu bar for all views other than "details" view. I can right-click within the box to sort, but it's very inefficient. retain that detail bar in all views?
On the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.
Whenever I single left click on an icon, file, or folder a repetitive popup appears asking if I want to send whatever I clicked on to the recycle bin. The item is sent to the recycle bin regardless.
i have an hp pavilion dv5 1006ax laptop with vista as default os. i changed to windoes 7 and now i have a problem with the bluetooth. it does not turn red and stays blue for ever. i cannot turn the adapter off. there is no problem in sending and receiving files. but when vist is installed it works fine...
On my desktop and quick start bar the icon for MS Word is only showing a generic picture. The shortcut is working. All the rest of the MS Office shortcuts have the right icon pictures.I'm running Win 7 Home edition and MS office 2010.
I was uninstalling windows live essential on my profile and added ms office outlook 2007 for email. For some reason, when changing users to my wife's profile, the desktop has to be prepared each time - as a temporary profile. The folder location has moved from Users/wife to Users/Users/wife and has a lock icon on it. I have tried moving the entire folder as administrator and received a not responding message.Short of a restore in which I will lose data is there a way to 'import' her profile under a new user and then delete the corrupted profile?
