Feb 5, 2010My offline files seems to work offline all the time, even when it shows me being online. I sync most of my business files to my laptop for working at home at night. When I edit a file from my Win 7 (pro, 64-bit) laptop, then go to edit it again, I get the version I had changed, but no one else does. This is causing huge difficulty, because my employees will start working in a sales forecast spreadsheet after I reconnect to the network and supposedly sync, but they don't get the latest version. Even doing a manual sync seems to make no difference.

The problem she is having is she will open a word file, change it up, save it, then re-open it later and its the old file not the new one. Where as I can open the edited file on my desktop running the same OS but with Word 2010 and the file that opens for me is the newest version.

Sep 5, 2012I was recently changing a network printer but the PC seemed slow when adding a new printer. I removed the unused devices and restarted the computer. Now when I try to open devices and printers I just get the green bar at the top and nothing shows up.On a side note (I assume it is related) at the same time the printer issue showed up I noticed that I can't get Word to open at all and when I go to page layout in Excel, Excel locks up.I have tried a clean boot and everything behaves the same. I have tried using Fix it for printer problems and the program seems to get stuck when checking for spooler errors.I have also done a search and found the posts about restarting the Blutooth services.

Windows 7 Explorer Doesn't Open?
Dec 20, 2012Whenever I try and access Windows Explorer nothing happens. It lights up for a bit like it has been selected but the window never actually opens. Task Manager indicates that Windows Explorer never actually opened. I need an answer to my problem soon because it is essential that I am able to manage my computers files.

Basically nothing happens, the dialog never opens an in my mail is not possible to upload files.. nothing, the common dialog to handle files never opens. I tried to type sfc/scannow in DOS mode (cmd). But didnt work because it said that I must be the administrator but the problem is that I am the administrator (I am the only user and register as admin).

Dec 16, 2012Im having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.

I plug in the USB in my new HP Touchsmart, it opens the jump drive, but says the folder is empty.I also have files on my PNY jump drive from the XP and another Vista computer. It opens the jump drive and sees the Vista files but not the XP files. The Vista computer sees all files on the WD My Book and the PNY jump drive.

Mar 23, 2012I have set up a Windows 7 machine that has a VPN incoming connection set-up, I have set up my router properly so that someone can connect via VPN, specifically me, from work, and from my laptop when I am out of the house. The reason for the VPN is to have the ability to have access to my files at my home office when I am away from it.
I an using a Mac with OS X 10.7 at work, and have set up the VPN and can see the VPN server that is at the home office, but when I open it, it give a connection failed error.
I can remote desktop with the VPN server, using team viewer and see that there is a connection and that it is my office mac.
Am I missing something that will allow me to view my files? Do I have something configured incorrectly? I have set up my network shares, is there a certain way that I need to set them up?

Sep 16, 2010I just bought a new 1TB drive. On my previous drive, everytime i (i.e) copy/paste files to that directory, it automatically sort itself out by Name. Now, it does sort by name but not if i don't click refresh or navigating to another folder and coming back to that directory.I've set it to sort by name. Is there something that's missing?

If I double-click a music file in Explorer, WMP will play it, and then it will show up in the library, but I have so many music files that double-clicking, and playing, every single one is not a great option. Then it said that my flash player could not be run, or something like that. The main thing was that something has hijacked my computer, preventing me from running ANY exe file, including my Trend Micro Maximum Security; HijackThis; System Restore; etc. I called Trend Micro and they could not help me either. I think I had glimpsed something that looked like it said "worm32" which leads me to believe that it is a worm that is infecting my computer. I keep getting the same message whenever I open any exe file: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs panel." I went into the default programs panel and found about 108 extensions that the current default is "unknown application". Some of these extensions include .386, .asp, .bat, .chk, and .cmd to name a few.

Nov 16, 2010I'm really at my wit's end with this current issue I'm having. I recently got some spyware "pw.exe" which posed as "Win 7 Internet Security". I do not recall what I did to get rid of this issue, but the rogue anti-virus software is no longer posting imaginary warning messages. Avast shows no threats + Malwarebytes removed all the remaining threats.As a workaround, I created a 2nd Administrator account and was able to connect and open up Firefox to browse for some fixes. This was before Malwarebytes removed the threats (LOG AT END OF POST)I previously used to not be able to open any .exe files on the 1st admin account due to some permission issue related to the spyware. After the spyware/trojan removal - I have messed up .exe file associations and cannot access "regedit.exe" either through "run" or "cmd". I keep getting a "Cannot find C:Windowsegedit.exe" despite the file still being there. The only way to get cmd is through task manager by CTRL + clicking "Open new Process". Only problem is, I don't where to go from there.[CODE]
