I just bought a new 1TB drive. On my previous drive, everytime i (i.e) copy/paste files to that directory, it automatically sort itself out by Name. Now, it does sort by name but not if i don't click refresh or navigating to another folder and coming back to that directory.I've set it to sort by name. Is there something that's missing?

With Windows XP, the images would stay in order as I added them, but with Windows 7 they are always in order of the image name. I have tried using the different sort by date options, but they are always sorted by the image name (which is a 5 digit number). How can I sort them by the date I add them to the folder?

I have my file "Sort by" set to Name; Ascending but when I open a file it always moves to the end position when I close it. As an example say I have a folder named Book A. Inside that folder are files named Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and Chapter 4 in that order. If I open and edit Chapter 2 when I close it the files are now in this order: Chapter 1, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, and Chapter 2. How do I make the files stay in the proper sort order? It's very irritating to have to move files back into their correct order every time.

I have a folder for every artist, and in those folders there�s a folder for each album. The only thing on this hard drive is music. In Windows XP, I could sort by name and show in groups. This way everything was kept alphabetical, all the �A� bands were under �A �, all the �B� bands were under �B�� With Windows 7 I get gigantic chunks of A-H, I-P and Q-Z. I have over nearly 600 folders on this drive. Grouping all those folders into 3 giant blocks is nothing short of useless. Is there any way at all to sort like XP?

Is there anyway to sort files globally? It seems everytime I open or close a folder, it re-sorts it to another criteria from when I last set it. For instance, I'll pick "ascending" and close the folder. Then when I come back to it later, it automatically switches to "descending" on it's own. I'm really getting tired of having to right-mouse click the contents of a folder all the time to correct this.

If I enter a folder that has many subfolders and extra files, it seems to load everything at once in alphabetical order, then there's a delay while it sorts the folders and the individual files separately, also in alphabetical order. This delay can be something like 5 seconds with just a few hundred items, and it just grows from there.

The problem I'm having is when I log my computer off, or put the computer into sleep mode. After logging back on to my laptop it won't connect back to the router. I always get the orange star sign over the signal bars.If I try to re-connect by clicking on the signal bars in the bottom right hand side of the screen it won't connect.

I foolishly hoped that also all future '*.wbk's would automatically be hidden too. Well for some reason it starts to blink. And then I can't do things right. The start menu doesn't stay open, it closes automatically. The preview images when you have many windows open from a program close themselves before I can select any. And littme annoying stuff. And sometimes, it's like all the screen is blinking, in Firefox. Other odd behavior : the cursor unfocus from pages while it blinks, if you want to go down on a page, well you have to click again the page to be able to control.Sometimes it's all the time, you can't even scroll to a document or a web page...I'm running windows 7 x64.

View 0 Replies View RelatedMy offline files seems to work offline all the time, even when it shows me being online. I sync most of my business files to my laptop for working at home at night. When I edit a file from my Win 7 (pro, 64-bit) laptop, then go to edit it again, I get the version I had changed, but no one else does. This is causing huge difficulty, because my employees will start working in a sales forecast spreadsheet after I reconnect to the network and supposedly sync, but they don't get the latest version. Even doing a manual sync seems to make no difference.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a M4 Crucial 128GB SSD which I want to use as my boot disk as well as for a few games and all my drivers just for quicker loading times etc etc, in conjunction with the 128GB SSD I have a 1 TB Seagate HDD that I want to use for the more mass amount of my storage such as documents, music, movies, general games etc etc. I have already installed things such as AVG, Chrome, Skype, Vent, and 2 of my more majorly played games on my computer and everything I download is default saving to my SSD when I'd rather it save to my HDD and move it to my SSD after.

I'm not exactly sure how many or which folders got encrypted. Now every file he downloads is automatically being encrypted, and we're not sure how to revert the settings. View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was browsing a website and Norton Internet Security pops up saying that a Trojan has been blocked (I don't have a screenshot of it, but that's pretty much all it said). So I exited the website and told Norton to do a full system scan later that night and fell asleep. When I woke up, all it found were some tracking cookies, which it deleted. However, I now had a problem on my computer: all files in every folder will auto arrange themselves every time the folder is opened or refreshed. The same happens on the desktop. Auto arrange is not checked.
Inside folders, the default setting is always "View > Details" and "Sort by > Name > Ascending." The icons on the desktop are still medium, but they are arranged in an odd order, it seems to be alphabetical but in an odd way. I had all my desktop icons arranged in a specific way, so now it's hard to try and find programs that I need. It's also extremely difficult to find any files because of this setup too. To clarify, here's an example of what happens: I arrange the icons the way I want (here being by "Date Modified"), but... If the folder is refreshed or reopened, computer is restarted, etc, then the folder resets to this default.
We currently have a user who has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and has this weird issue with shortcuts. When this user creates a new file or folder on a network share it's also creating a shortcut in the root of the share. This is only affecting this user and the only thing I can think of is to blow away the local profile on the laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my tower pc on constant all day- to record a streaming IP Camera from my work.Initially, I saved these files into my docutments- which they would save as .avi files, and after every several days I would delete them as they would take up ALOT of space on my pc.My pc is 250GB in size, and usually it would be about 80GB full before I had the IP Camera. Just recently, I noticed all of the IP Camera avi files seemed to have disappeared from my documents if I went directly to the folder... I could still see them in documents when I was choosing a location to save the recordings.Upon right-clicking the avi files in the latter, the files would be of no size and wouldn't play.Now my computer is 210GB full in the matter of a week.
