I have a M4 Crucial 128GB SSD which I want to use as my boot disk as well as for a few games and all my drivers just for quicker loading times etc etc, in conjunction with the 128GB SSD I have a 1 TB Seagate HDD that I want to use for the more mass amount of my storage such as documents, music, movies, general games etc etc. I have already installed things such as AVG, Chrome, Skype, Vent, and 2 of my more majorly played games on my computer and everything I download is default saving to my SSD when I'd rather it save to my HDD and move it to my SSD after.
I open a file sent to me in email, click enable editing, work on it for three hours, hitting save all the while, then go to email it back and the file is gone. It isn't in my documents where I saved it, and it isn't under recent files. I am sure you can relate to the feeling of losing something you have worked hard on and I feel
My Mother has forgotten her pw to log into her pc. She has taken it to the store she bought it from and they told her that she is going to have to buy, I guess a recovery cd in able to restore her pc so that she can use it. I understand this and know it will work.If she uses the restore cd, will she lose all her files?
I am having a terrible time saving and then being able to open up files that I need. Can someone help me to understand how this works with Window 7, please.
Ive been spending the last few days going between many different support forums of windows 7, kaspersky and also yahoo answers in hope to fix this google-shy problem im having with no luck, replies even.when i try to download any application file (i believe they're most usually .exe file?) it opens the dialogue box and i am able to choose location and the file name. Once i have done so it sits at the bottom of my chrome browser until it shows the download is complete. once i click on it, it gives me the standard windows message ''windows cannot find (file pathway and name). make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again''.So I tried internet explorer, i click on the completed download/or even try to open the containing folder and the same error msg crops up again.I changed file locations, even onto a different internal hdd and also i changed the file name before saving, no success.I figured it must be being seen as a virus by my kaspersky (windows defender is switched off btw) but couldn't find anything that seemed out of place to me (but then im certainly no expert with security programs because i just leave them to do there thing).
It was suggested i get hold of the kaspersky's getsysteminfo.exe (being an application i downloaded it onto a friends pc and brought it over via a usb) to send usage, spec and settings report which i did but unfortunately never got a reply from the forum. i looked at the report myself, with little clue what is normal or not... i convinced myself with a little googling that it was the 'nVidia forceware network access manager' causing the problem, i didnt even know i had such a program and it turns out to be a firewall 'software/hardware(!) thingy' i guess as part of my nvidia 680lt motherboard. so i uninstalled it and with that came no success either.btw i forgot to mention files such as jpegs, docs, music andvideo files work fine, i can download them no problem without the file going missing, yet any file for a program such as google drive or getsysteminfo or whatever and my pc doesn't want know.can a registry problem effect one type of file and the resulting behaviour, is it a virus even -kaspersky doesnt think so though.
I have received a link which has 50 jpg files in it. I opened the link and all the pictures are there. I clicked on select all and all files are highlighted and i clicked on save as but only one file is saved.
before i update to windows seven my recovery was not full now it full i deleted the back and now i want it to stop saving all of my files like pictures, video, program file, etc
I have an SSD as my OS drive and HDD as a storage drive. If I setup any program to save downloaded files to my storage HDD (specifically the program Newsleecher for Usenet downloading) and allowing it to extract the downloaded rar files into the same storage HDD, would the files still "go through" the SSD before finally saving/extracting to the HDD?
I recieved a Dell Insipron 1545 about a year and a half ago, with windows 7 pre-installed on it. Unfortunate circumstances have led me to have to reinstall windows 7 on my laptop. When I did (With the installation disks that came with my laptop) It kept sending me notifications that my recovery drive was full, and everything I tried to save would automatically attempt to save on the recovery drive and fail. Thus my laptop is almost useless because I can't reinstall any of my programs, games or transfer my pictures, videos and documents back onto it. I was promted to try and reinstall again, but this time specify that is be saved in the OS drive, not the recovery drive. I did this and it only led to the exact same results.
On Win7 I'm having an issue where when I move the files from my Canon digital camera to the hard drive the date taken on the videos are not saving. It sets them at the time I moved them to the hard drive instead.
When trying to save a file, the save dialog will not display the contents of a folder or drive in the content pane. When I click on a drive or folder in the navigation pane the content pane only displays the 'No items match your search' message. When I try to save the file in the Documents folder I get a 'The file name is not valid' message. This happens in some programs(Notepad++, Firefox, IE7) but not others(Notepad). This also happens in Firefox, Chrome and IE7 when I'm trying to upload a file to the internet(either my webserver(a Joomla CMS) or Soundcloud.com(A music sharing site).
I'm so tired of going to cmd and type java -jar "<File Location>" any know how to open jar files automatically ? I tried opening it with java platform SE Binary but it doesnt open .

A while ago my brother was messing around on his computer and encrypted some of his folders (right click > property > advanced > encrypt). I'm not exactly sure how many or which folders got encrypted. Now every file he downloads is automatically being encrypted, and we're not sure how to revert the settings. Is there a way to stop it from encrypting files automatically again?
I just bought a new 1TB drive. On my previous drive, everytime i (i.e) copy/paste files to that directory, it automatically sort itself out by Name. Now, it does sort by name but not if i don't click refresh or navigating to another folder and coming back to that directory.I've set it to sort by name. Is there something that's missing?
We have Windows 7 on one of our office computers. However, I cannot figure out how to get the computer to automatically choose the appropriate program to open files. Every time we get a file in with a new extention, we have to browse and look for the program..
The other day I was browsing a website and Norton Internet Security pops up saying that a Trojan has been blocked (I don't have a screenshot of it, but that's pretty much all it said). So I exited the website and told Norton to do a full system scan later that night and fell asleep. When I woke up, all it found were some tracking cookies, which it deleted. However, I now had a problem on my computer: all files in every folder will auto arrange themselves every time the folder is opened or refreshed. The same happens on the desktop. Auto arrange is not checked.
Inside folders, the default setting is always "View > Details" and "Sort by > Name > Ascending." The icons on the desktop are still medium, but they are arranged in an odd order, it seems to be alphabetical but in an odd way. I had all my desktop icons arranged in a specific way, so now it's hard to try and find programs that I need. It's also extremely difficult to find any files because of this setup too. To clarify, here's an example of what happens: I arrange the icons the way I want (here being by "Date Modified"), but... If the folder is refreshed or reopened, computer is restarted, etc, then the folder resets to this default.
We currently have a user who has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and has this weird issue with shortcuts. When this user creates a new file or folder on a network share it's also creating a shortcut in the root of the share. This is only affecting this user and the only thing I can think of is to blow away the local profile on the laptop.
I think whats its more or less doing is every time wmp opens it goes trough my docs and music folders and it adds everything there, i don't want it to its all too messy for wmp to list properly..i've gone into tools and unchecked all the boxes but there dosn't seem to be an option to stop it adding local media.
I plan to record PC gameplay using Fraps, which creates very large files. In order for me to do so whilst still maintaining high FPS in game, I have to record to my SSD. However, this fills up very quickly.make a program that automatically moves the recordings over to the HDD as they are created. Fraps has an option to split the recording up into 4GB segments, so what the program will need to do is detect when the second section has been created, then move the first across, then detect when the third has been created and move the second across etc.
The " Files to Delete" on disk cleanup are automatically recreated.? Because I check all and some dont appear anymore and other yes are still there but with 0 bytes.
I can no longer upload files to the internet. When I try to Internet Explorer 9 crashes and restarts. The same thing happens when I right click on a picture on the internet and try to save it to my computer. The only changes to my computer was I upgraded the Norton Anti Virus software. I've reinstalled IE9 and same thing. I tried reinstalling Norton and same thing.
I'm running Windows 7. When I "right click, save" pics from the web, they oftentimes show up as a flat colored line. In the folder they've been saved in, the thumbnail looks normal, but when you open it, it's a mess. Or the picture is compressed to the point it no longer resembles the original photo.
I have an HP Pavilion PC, Windows 7, 1 yr old. It has never recognized the presence of a blank writable disc in the disc drive. When trying to save any type of file, it gives a "no disc in drive - insert a disc" message, even when a new writable disc has been inserted.
Suddenly Windows Live Mail has gone erratic in saving emails in Sent Items. Problem just cropped up in the last few days. The option to save-in-Sent is checked.
Doing several tests of a series of three emails sent to the same address, it generally does not save the first one but DOES save the subsequent emails. Have run this test several times with the same result. For some reason, it skips the first one sent to an particular address but then saves others sent immediately. However, after an interval of time, another new message to that same address will not be saved the first time it's sent.
The messages are being sent -- I have received those that I sent to myself (to another account) and friends tell me they have received messages that I know were not saved to Sent Items. No changes were made to Windows Live Settings prior to this problem arising. It was working fine a week ago.
Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with Windows Live Mail 2011 Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3538.0513)
I'm using windows Live email and I lost all my saved emails which were serveral hundred. I had a folder in the same root as my Inbox with sub folders and now they are gone. I would like to make a folder on the root directory of my hard drive and save them to that so this does not happen again. I have 3 hard drives so every couple of days I can just copy them over to the other 2 hard drives so this really can not happen again. What a nightmare. How can I do this?
am having a problem with many of my programs. For example, my minesweeper does not save my game anymore, my curse client does not open saying it is a logging system error, my google chrome does not save my history and the extensions i have on it do not save any of my history as well, my windows desktop gadgets do not update anymore (my weather is not updating and says it cannot connect to the internet), and my taskbar does not recognize my cursor leaving it so it keeps whatever icon i had my cursor on last highlighted. The last thing I remember installing before all the errors occurred is minecraft and a minecraft server
