View 1 Replies View RelatedI am extremely new to computers and my son and I now have one. I believe he has made changes to his computer to hide his actions from me (hes 10 and knows more about computers than I), because his Internet Explorer history only saves sites sporadically it seems, and downloads are also not saving, and neither are cookies. I'm sure other things are not saving as well. I have tried to reset his IE settings to default, and it did nothing.
I have noticed that the few cookies that are in his Temporary Internet files are all searches for Windows how-tos' involving Indexing his computer, Deleting Browsing History, and System Restore. I'm not sure if him messing with these settings could have caused his computer to not save anything, or what. Should I try to restore Internet History files first, and then try a System Restore? Or should I just do/or do not do a System Restore at all and try something else?
I recently bought a new desktop (Dell Intel core i5 2500 processor, 8gb ram, Windows 7 64bit Pro version). It is set up for automatic updates and I have not tweaked or added anything except Norton anti virus software. I am running IE9 (v9.02).
Yesterday I went to check up in IE9 Browsing History for a site I had visited earlier and found it was only displaying internal sites on my desktop visited. None of the various websites I had visited showed up. I looked back to earlier days and it was the same, nothing except internal searches.
I looked on the web for fixes, and found suggestions to check Internet options to check if it was set to Delete Browsing History when exiting search. It is not. Also to check if I am running In Private Browsing. I am not. And to try a reset of IE9 - I did and it made no difference.
I also have a Samsung Netbook running Windows 7 starter and the same version of IE9 (9.02) also running Norton anti virus and that is working just fine. So is it related to having Windows 7 64 bit version? Is there a fix?
Is there a way to browse without my requests being logged? It really feels invasive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have start->run history kept while not keeping a history of the recently launched programs from the menu?
I know under the properties you have "Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu", but this is what controls both.
I'm figuring theres probably some registry entry that will let me control them individually.
I open a file sent to me in email, click enable editing, work on it for three hours, hitting save all the while, then go to email it back and the file is gone. It isn't in my documents where I saved it, and it isn't under recent files. I am sure you can relate to the feeling of losing something you have worked hard on and I feel

View 1 Replies View RelatedI never had a problem before with other versins of IE but now when I go check my history all it shows is where I have been on my computer, nothing about where I have been on the net. I uninstalled to make sure it was not a faulty install. I made sure I had enough disk space, I made sure it was not deleting as soon as I shut down, its set to 20 days. Went to the location where it supposed to be stored and even there it only has files I have accessed that are on my computer. It is showing very recent files in my drop down address bar but that is it. I cleaned up my cookies, cleared cache, deleted temp files. Running out of options.

I cannot view my "Update History", its gone. But, I can view my "Installed Updates". I'm thinking the History is a text file that some how was deleted, whereas the installed updates are installed and live.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my new computer about 3-4 months ago but the other day it decided to stop saving web history. It will show some pages but not all. If it does save, it will save the initial page but nothing after that. Normally when opening a website, a bar will appear above the taskbar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Website found, Waiting for reply...' on the left hand side and 100% on the right, etc., that bar is no longer appearing. I've check the internet options part and the 'delete browsing history on exit' is unchecked. Disk space is set at 250 and days at 20. I'm running windows 7, IE 9.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I go into history to find a recently visited website, I am only getting My Computer's history (jpegs, mp3s etc) and not a list of websites. Of the 5 options available, only 'view by most visited' will give a list of websites, which is useless to me as I can recall those by memory anyway - the other 4 options just give a My Computer history
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn IE8, typing in the search bar generated a list of previous search queries starting with the same characters. In IE9, I don't get the same. According to the Privacy Statement, Quote: AutoComplete collects and stores in the registry on your computer the data you type in ...the Address bar. This is a very useful feature of IE8, making it possible to re-use complicated search strings like g site:gloucestershire.gov.uk - all I had to do was type g and this string would appear as the first result. Substitute keywords for the g, select a provider and watch the results stream in.how do I make autocomplete in the Address Bar show previously-entered search strings as well as URLs and page titles?

View 1 Replies View RelatedYou know one can acces to the recent files/folders on explorer or other programs by right-clicking on them in the taskbar.
For some time, I've no more list, nowhere. I've no more history when I right-click on Explorer (or other programs such as Notepad, Paint) in the taskbar. And the tasks associated to programs such as Media Player don't work : I click on them and... nothing.
However it's worked properly before. Do you know what is the problem and how to repair ? (I've the impression a registry key is missing or similar problem ).
I missed some cmd.exe output today and I would really have liked to know what that was. I know it wasn't malware, but that's not the point Is there a way to make cmd.exe copy all it's output to a text file automatically or something similar that I could use to check back on what my system did there?I already checked google, it said there's "no way". Only with powershell, but that's not exactly what I want because I don't really do a lot of that stuff, but I'd come back to it, if nobody knows anything else.
