when I go into history to find a recently visited website, I am only getting My Computer's history (jpegs, mp3s etc) and not a list of websites. Of the 5 options available, only 'view by most visited' will give a list of websites, which is useless to me as I can recall those by memory anyway - the other 4 options just give a My Computer history
Task scheduler throws an error saying " The user account does not have permission to view task history on this machine" while trying to view task history for a task that was created with same User Account in which currently we are logged in.Is this a Bug?
Note : I didnt even logout once. All this happened in same session.
I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.
Since a while my history only remembers files I have opened on my hd like pictures and word documents etc., no addresses of searches or visited websites.I just read through older threads with history as subject and I checked the number of days my history is supposed to be kept and changed it from 100 days to 28 days, but still no websites addresses are kept.

IE9 has stopped recording my internet browsing history. Instead it only records my computer document history, like any saved pictures I open or any documents I openDoes anyone know why its done that and how I can put it right?
I never had a problem before with other versins of IE but now when I go check my history all it shows is where I have been on my computer, nothing about where I have been on the net. I uninstalled to make sure it was not a faulty install. I made sure I had enough disk space, I made sure it was not deleting as soon as I shut down, its set to 20 days. Went to the location where it supposed to be stored and even there it only has files I have accessed that are on my computer. It is showing very recent files in my drop down address bar but that is it. I cleaned up my cookies, cleared cache, deleted temp files. Running out of options.
I cannot view my "Update History", its gone. But, I can view my "Installed Updates". I'm thinking the History is a text file that some how was deleted, whereas the installed updates are installed and live.
I bought my new computer about 3-4 months ago but the other day it decided to stop saving web history. It will show some pages but not all. If it does save, it will save the initial page but nothing after that. Normally when opening a website, a bar will appear above the taskbar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Website found, Waiting for reply...' on the left hand side and 100% on the right, etc., that bar is no longer appearing. I've check the internet options part and the 'delete browsing history on exit' is unchecked. Disk space is set at 250 and days at 20. I'm running windows 7, IE 9.
In IE8, typing in the search bar generated a list of previous search queries starting with the same characters. In IE9, I don't get the same. According to the Privacy Statement, Quote: AutoComplete collects and stores in the registry on your computer the data you type in ...the Address bar. This is a very useful feature of IE8, making it possible to re-use complicated search strings like g site:gloucestershire.gov.uk - all I had to do was type g and this string would appear as the first result. Substitute keywords for the g, select a provider and watch the results stream in.how do I make autocomplete in the Address Bar show previously-entered search strings as well as URLs and page titles?
So my ie8 got buggy with its history, to solve this I went to Tools->internet options-> delete history. This solved the bugs. Now prior to my deletion, I went to C:->Users->{user name}->app data->local->Microsoft and copied the folder named History (60+ megs).I pasted it on my F: drive. Now I'm trying to repaste this info and...Nothing.I mean, the size of this folder changes from 0 to 60+ megs, but when I double click it only shows "today".
You know one can acces to the recent files/folders on explorer or other programs by right-clicking on them in the taskbar.
For some time, I've no more list, nowhere. I've no more history when I right-click on Explorer (or other programs such as Notepad, Paint) in the taskbar. And the tasks associated to programs such as Media Player don't work : I click on them and... nothing.
However it's worked properly before. Do you know what is the problem and how to repair ? (I've the impression a registry key is missing or similar problem ).
I missed some cmd.exe output today and I would really have liked to know what that was. I know it wasn't malware, but that's not the point Is there a way to make cmd.exe copy all it's output to a text file automatically or something similar that I could use to check back on what my system did there?I already checked google, it said there's "no way". Only with powershell, but that's not exactly what I want because I don't really do a lot of that stuff, but I'd come back to it, if nobody knows anything else.
How do I install or re-install IE8 for Windows 7. My history is not saving! I thought re-installing will fix this.I had to delete IE9. IE9 is terrible!
Is there a way to clear the 'Last Run' date and % fragmented in Disk Defragmenter in Windows 7?I've cleared the event viewer application and system log files and also completely disabled and reenabled the defrag service. I'm not sure what else to try.I ran Analyze on my SSD (did not run defrag) to see what it would say. I just don't want that history showing it as fragmented. I understand it's a trivial complaint though, but don't like seeing it. That data has got to be saved somewhere in the OS and I want to blow it up
I go to tools, delete forms, history, and the rest, and there are about 20 websites in history that keep showing up when I go type a web address. I've tried CWShredder (says it doesn't exist on my computer). I've tried Spybot (which I did first) (showed coolwebsearch when it did a scan, then supposedly deleted it). I've tried Malware anti-bytes. I tried to try Stopzilla and Spyware Doctor, but they make you pay for it.
How can I possibly delete the history/ urls that keep showing up?
I followed instructions to clear Windows7 update history, tried to delete all in the Datastore file but on double clicking the folder nothing appeared so unable to deletethe update history.
i accidentally deteled some files from an SSD (personal files, not windows stuff) and I've tried recovering them with different recovery programs but nothing seems to work? tell me if I can recover some files from an SSD with recovery programs?
I am extremely new to computers and my son and I now have one. I believe he has made changes to his computer to hide his actions from me (hes 10 and knows more about computers than I), because his Internet Explorer history only saves sites sporadically it seems, and downloads are also not saving, and neither are cookies. I'm sure other things are not saving as well. I have tried to reset his IE settings to default, and it did nothing.
I have noticed that the few cookies that are in his Temporary Internet files are all searches for Windows how-tos' involving Indexing his computer, Deleting Browsing History, and System Restore. I'm not sure if him messing with these settings could have caused his computer to not save anything, or what. Should I try to restore Internet History files first, and then try a System Restore? Or should I just do/or do not do a System Restore at all and try something else?
