currently I experiencing a problem .. that's my .exe files auto disappeared from my computer .. I don't know why .. I tried to download it again , but with 0 bytes ..When I click on the files it just pop out this msg '' is not valid win32 application .So Im using my father lap top to download the files and copy to my USB pend to transfer the file , but once I open my USB folder my .exe files automatically disappeared

I am trying to edit some photos and music manually. but by the time I finish editing an entire folder, some of the files have disappeared. If I check the properties of the folder containing the files, it shows that there is the correct number of files but when I open the folder, they are not there. Don't know where they are. Been trying to edit music info of some of my files. but they just keep disappearing.

When I tried to restart music, all my folders on my external had disappeared, but the space required for all those files was still "used".I don't know why... maybe because I remembered something about it... i ran chkdsk /r and it found a lot of errors and then it wrote 105684709 KB in 9719 recovered files.Now it's checking for available space. What I'd like to know is: did I make an error running it? Will it put all files into some strange un-readable archive?

And of course I had no 'Documents' folder, etc.I then discovered that I had no System Restore points (I've created some now).I finally managed to work out that somehow 'show hidden filles and folders' had been un-ticked.So I ticked that option, and now all the missing items are back - but they're all 'pale' and all the icons within those folders are 'pale' as well.What does this mean? I can open the files and folders.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to backup my system to an external drive, interrupted it, then all the files I saved on my desktop were gone. I can't find them through the start menu search nor are they in the recycle bin. I tried to restore the system to an earlier save, no dice.

3. is it a bad idea to save files to the desktop? It looked like that is where windows places my documents by default? Is it dangerous to just create C://documents for a computer with one user?
I'm using several internal hard drives with my computer, one of which is 1.5Tb in size (on a single partition). On this HD I store a number of multi-media files, which I've sorted/placed in specific "main" folders (Audio files - Picture files - Video files - etc.), and within each of these main folders are a number of other folders where the contents (pictures, etc), are sorted/filed for easier access.This evening I noticed that all the files (several years of pictures), which were within a main folder labeled "Pictures", have disappeared (they were there a few hours before)!! T he main folder was still there, but now shows as being empty, but all the sub-folders and their contents have suddenly disappeared. Everything else on the hard drive is still where it should be.I checked the main recycle bin on C drive, but the files weren't there (there was one photo there which I deleted yesterday. I did a "restore" for it and it left the recycle bin but didn't show up where it came from - the HD where the other pictures have gone missing from - or, as far as I can see, anywhere else).
I also checked the recycle bin on the actual hard drive where this mystery occurred and discovered one "folder" containing almost 5Gb of something - - I can't open it. A check in properties shows this folder to be marked as "hidden" and the box is shaded out, i.e., blocked to prevent being changed. The box immediately above the hidden box (Read-only), isn't checked - but, instead of being blank, it's blue (and if I click it the blue is replaced by a blank box)!!I've read in this forum of some similar experiences - but usually they're program files on C drive that have disappeared and not actual "stored" files on another HD, so I wasn't able to receive any help from them - - except to be comforted in the strong possibility that the files are still there, they've just been hidden by windows (7 Ultimate, 64bit).I also contacted a company (BitMart) who's product (Restorer 2000 Pro), I purchased several years ago. I'm told that my product does not support either W-7 or 64 bit but their newest version does - - however, there's no guarantee that a recovery can be made if the files haven't been deleted from the drive and are only in a hidden state.
I seem to have no program files and almost all my desktop shortcuts have disappeared..Also my Desktop background is gone and its just a black screen.
I have tried Viprescue, malware bytes and Mcaffe but they havent changed anything..
This morning I was arranging my desktop files and folders. As I clicked the command to sort by item type, suddenly I had duplicates of every file and folder as listed on my desktop. I even had two icons for the recycle bin! I started moving one of each of the duplicated files and folders into one of the duplicated recycle bins.
I rearranged the files and folders. I then emptied one of the recycle bins. I then clicked on the desktop to rearrange the files and folders. Suddenly almost everything else on my desktop disappeared! There were many files and folder on the desktop that are now gone, there are only 7 files and folders left. Is there any way I can recover these missing files and folders.
I mapped a drive to my laptop from my desktop to copy 1 folder from the mapped drive.When completed I found files missing from the original that i do not see on either laptop or desktop. Where did they go and how can i get them back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a M4 Crucial 128GB SSD which I want to use as my boot disk as well as for a few games and all my drivers just for quicker loading times etc etc, in conjunction with the 128GB SSD I have a 1 TB Seagate HDD that I want to use for the more mass amount of my storage such as documents, music, movies, general games etc etc. I have already installed things such as AVG, Chrome, Skype, Vent, and 2 of my more majorly played games on my computer and everything I download is default saving to my SSD when I'd rather it save to my HDD and move it to my SSD after.

I'm not exactly sure how many or which folders got encrypted. Now every file he downloads is automatically being encrypted, and we're not sure how to revert the settings. Now, it does sort by name but not if i don't click refresh or navigating to another folder and coming back to that directory.I've set it to sort by name. Is there something that's missing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was browsing a website and Norton Internet Security pops up saying that a Trojan has been blocked (I don't have a screenshot of it, but that's pretty much all it said). So I exited the website and told Norton to do a full system scan later that night and fell asleep. When I woke up, all it found were some tracking cookies, which it deleted. However, I now had a problem on my computer: all files in every folder will auto arrange themselves every time the folder is opened or refreshed. The same happens on the desktop. Auto arrange is not checked.
Inside folders, the default setting is always "View > Details" and "Sort by > Name > Ascending." The icons on the desktop are still medium, but they are arranged in an odd order, it seems to be alphabetical but in an odd way. I had all my desktop icons arranged in a specific way, so now it's hard to try and find programs that I need. It's also extremely difficult to find any files because of this setup too. To clarify, here's an example of what happens: I arrange the icons the way I want (here being by "Date Modified"), but... If the folder is refreshed or reopened, computer is restarted, etc, then the folder resets to this default.
We currently have a user who has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and has this weird issue with shortcuts. When this user creates a new file or folder on a network share it's also creating a shortcut in the root of the share. This is only affecting this user and the only thing I can think of is to blow away the local profile on the laptop.

However, this fills up very quickly.make a program that automatically moves the recordings over to the HDD as they are created. Fraps has an option to split the recording up into 4GB segments, so what the program will need to do is detect when the second section has been created, then move the first across, then detect when the third has been created and move the second across etc.

When she arrived at her destinaction it did not work. According to the Geek squad, the hardware works fine, but there is not an operation system on the laptop. The laptop did not come with discs, but it has the Windows 7 label on the back with the product code. But when emailing Micrsoft support, they only want the PID which can't be retrieved from a computer that doesn't have an operating system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm on Home Premium 64 bit, and today everything was working just fine. After one reboot, nearly all the icons on my desktop were blank. As in, the individual icon pictures were just default. Every program I try to open all pops up with "Such and such file has been moved or Deleted" When running programs manually, I keep coming up with "Cannot run .ini or something to that effect if that helps. . The only thing I can get to work are Malwarebytes, Avira and Internet Explorer so far that I can find. No viruses have been detected by either of the scans and I just have no idea what to do from here. All MP3 files are also useless due to every media player that I have now appearing missing including WMP, Winamp, ITunes and such.
I really have no idea what to do here. The last thing I'd want is to have to format the computer. I have one 4gig thumb drive to back up some things, but that's about all I have. If those files aren't corrupted as well. I have no way of opening them to see.Tried a system restore before posting this and the restore failed.I know I am probably not providing all the information that I can, but if you need any more, please let me know. I'll be monitoring this thread all day.
I have had Windows 7 installed on my PC.Last night I installed Windows XP Professional (as i have some programs that do not work on 7) on my PC. I had intended it to be a sort of double boot with Windows 7 i.e. i wanted to have a boot selecter where i can choose whether to boot XP or 7. However my PC now directly boots into XP and does not allow me boot into 7.Is there a way to re-insert Windows 7 into the mbr so that i can have a choose which OS i want to boot?.

She admits to having 'fiddled' with the networking applets in Control Panel with the result that neither LAN nor Wi-fi functions any more.I have noticed that I am unable to use the GUI to access IPv4 Properties because the button is greyed out. Also greyed out is Uninstall. The only button available is Install. I have tried that, but after rebooting the situation appears to be the same. I have tried using the command prompt as Administrator and using NETSH to uninstall IP, install it, reset it etc, rebooting every time but without any noticeable change afterwards. Also tried NETSH WINSOCK RESET after the above. I have also tried the above in recovery mode with networking enabled. Again, no change!Unfortunately, the model does not have a CD drive. However, it has USB ports. Fortunately, I do have a generic 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium CD - which is the operating system installed on the PC. So I could copy the CD in one way or another to an external USB drive and work from that if necessary. If I knew what I had to do!There is a lot of valuable data on the PC and I don't want to be responsible for losing it. my computer last night randomly shut off while loading a tv show off Internet. upon restarting windows failed to boot. when prompted with restore and recovery it failed. unable to access safe mode and when it says it is recovering it just says it is finished with no progress restarts to no avail. upon looking at command prompt diskpart, my c partition(30gb) no longer is visible or exists. this is where my windows seven was stored. so i now only have my e drive partition which is a (1 tb drive) repairs do not work, the only option i have is to install on my e drive which warns me it will overwrite my data. i would like my c drive back and be able to boot successfully.
