I am doing a clean install on a amd 64 bit 4500 with a ati 1gig graphics card, 250g harddrive and i think at least that is what i have. The problem that i am having is that after installing windows 7 it freezes on the initial start up window where it is asking the language to install time and currency format and keyboard.
It took a long time to get to this screen as at first it just hung on what looked like a windows 7 desktop background with no icons. It hung like this for about 10 minutes and now it is stuck on the first install screen. I cant input any information the keyboard is plugged in and I have tried it with a wireless mouse as well as a wired mouse.
I currently have Windows XP SP3 installed on drive CDrive D is empty - Used to have Windows XPDrive E is my data drive.I put the Windows 7 64 Bit DVD in, it boots up and states loading files, then I see the coloured dots make the Microsoft window, then a blue screen with coloured lines and what looks like leaves. The mouse works, but that's where it all stops. I don't see anything else. Do I need to do anything special at this stage to proceed? What I want to do.I want to install Windows Ultimate onto Drive D but keep my Windows XP install as Dual Boot for now. I imagine, the CD would give me options to install like XP used to on drive of my choice, format my D drive and install.
My PCPentium Dual Core E5300 @ 2.60GHZNVIDEA GeForce 8600 GT 512Mb graphics cardGigabyte G31M-ES2L motherboardI could not tell you which ones but 1 of my hard drives is SATA and the other two are the old connection. They are all 80Gig. I think the set up is like this.Hard Drive 1 SATA - Master, DVD SATA - Slaveard Drive 2 Old Connection, Hard Drive 3 - Slave
I'm trying to install windows 7 on to my new build but when I get to the language selection the mouse and keyboard stop working and no cursor appears, they both work in bios so I don't know what the issue is.
installed windows 7 ultimate(tried both 64 and 32 bit) to my pc. but after installation when it reboots for the 1st time, it shows a black screen with the mouse pointer. i waited 1/2 hour but no use.my pc config core2quad q6600, asus P5KVM, 2 gb ddr2 ram, nvidia 9600gt 512mb and 380 gb seagate hd also when i try to boot in safe mode it says that windows have to start normally for the first time.i installed it over xp sp3 by formatting the c drive.i have reinstalled it atleast 6 times but no change.
I have a dell vostro 420, and I want to install windows 7 32bit home edition.
I was running xp fine untill a while ago. I was having hard drive problems.
I ended up getting a replacement hard drive, which is now in my PC.
I tried to do a clean install of 7, but the mouse and keyboard froze during install.
I'm able to install xp, which works fine, but would rather be running windows 7!
how can I fix this!?
I did manage to get it up and running eventually on the old hard drive-after turning off and on many many times during install due to mouse/keyboard freezes! and general 'hanging' at points during install
windows 7 then locked up my mouse keyboard after a few seconds or minutes (or froze?)
So, I'm trying to install Windows 7. The keyboard and mouse seem to work fine until I get to the Windows 7 installation screen. When I'm there the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. Like, the mouse light and keyboard lights work up until the Windows 7 screen shows up. Anyone know what the problem is? I've had Windows 7 on it previously and had no issues, but wanted to do new clean install.
I recently built a computer and today began to install Windows 7. The mouse and keyboard I bought work during BIOS configuration, but not during the OS installation. At all. I have tried other mice and keyboards and nothing works, not wireless or wired mice.
I've just gotten done backing up all the data I want backed up, uninstalled iTunes and all of it's components, ran Windows 7 advisor and am ready to proceed with the custom install but I just wanted to make sure that I would be ok using my existing wireless mouse and keyboard during the install. I have a Logitech S510 keyboard and a Logitech LX8 mouse....would I be alright to begin the installation process with these or should I connect hardwired versions instead
Apart from moving my profile to another disk, what can i do to prevent my mouse getting slow while some bigger setup or file extraction is running? Change location of TEMP files folder to another drive - Microsoft Community
yesterday when i was making log out from my computer, there is no log out screen!! just black screen and mouse cursor, and when i did restart again , no logon screen appears or no any thing in screen , just black screen and mouse cursor too.I was tried every thing and no difference :safe modestartup repairrestore to some point (i dont have a point)upgrade windows or reinstall iti think the things maybe was made this poblem are :i was edited userinit.exe value from registry by deleting the comma from the end of its value. i used Windows 7 manager to make some clean and fixes some things on computer.
I am having a problem with booting BT5 (Backtrack 5) because I cant see anything upon system startup (No loading screen or anything) till the mouse is loaded. It all works fine after that, the login appears and I login like usual.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit and whenever I start up into normal mode it loads a blank desktop with only a mouse. When I try right clicking or doing ctrl-alt-delete and starting task manager nothing happens.
When I boot up my computer going into the starting page since there is a guest acccount aand a admin I can only see my mouse and a blackground I don't understand computers that much but
As part of my upgrade to AM3, I did a quick format of my SSD and reinstalled Windows 7, but now for some reason my mouse movement doesn't match up with my cursor movement. I installed the Microsoft drivers for my keyboard and mouse, performed all the necessary Windows updates but I still can't get it to work properly. Is there something I'm not doing? Do I need to reinstall the USB drivers for my motherboard?
So i have windows 7 64 bit pc that loads fine with one setup but then when i go set it up for another person in my office all i get is black screen with mouse and thats it.
Okay so I was just on my computer and it was being a little slower at responding than usual and then it froze so I had to hol the power button to turn it off. When I turned it back on it came to a black screen with my cursor sitting there. I can move the cursor around but cannot use ctrl+alt+del to open task manager. Safe mode leads to the same problem. Safe mode with networking also leads to the same problem. I don't have a restore point so system restore is out of the question. I tried startup repair but it said there were no problems detected. I ran a memory test to try to find problems and it came up with nothing. I looked around the Internet for solutions but only found solutions for people who could access task manager.
Today i noticed that after my windows 7 logon screen i get a black screen with only my mouse pointer on it. i already tried restoring to a day before the problem but same thing happenswhat can i do to fix it? seems to me that the problem started after i installed hotspot-shield i guess it cameout with some driver installer but i dont know which onesi waited on the black screen and it seems to start windows after 10 mins which is way longer than usual and thats my problem its anoying. what else can i do? i already did the restoring point process. and start up restore, and memory disk checkup.
So i came home and turned on my computer, when it didn't wanted to go further than to the Login Screen, when i got my Black Screen and i could only see my Curser. What to do? Format it?
Recently my computer has not been loading windows 7 up intill the login screen. I get to see the little circle color things swirl around with the "Loading Windows" text, but were the login screen usually appears, I get a totally black screen with a movable mouse pointer. It is a brand new rig with 4g RAM (2g sticks) and I am running the 64 bit version but wounder if this is causing the problem.
Also when I try to do a system restore using the windows disc, I must first go into the settings (by pressing DEL on start up), then set my bay drive to boot first rather then my SATA to get the "Press any button to boot from disc... " prompt. Otherwise windows will ignore the disc. However when I load the disc and try to go into restore points, there are none to choose from.... I have no clue what to do and am willing to just install windows complelty again ext.
my problem is when I start the computer and get to the login screen; Im unable to choose the user because neither my keyboard and mouse don't work. I also can't get to the safe mode. I've got USB Wireless mouse and keyboard and it works in bios. I didnt make any changes to the computer lately
I just bought a new hard drive and windows 7. I installed the new hard drive and tried installing windows 7, but I dont get any ''pictures''. It goes up to picture 2 where I got to put in my language, but I do not actually get this screen. The screen stays empty and only my mouse comes up so I cant actually do anything
My laptop didn't reboot wen i restarted it.. so i decided to recover using the recovery disk.. But wen it reached the last cd, the recovery failed. So i decided to choose to delete all files.. after formatting, wen I reboot it appears, BOOTMGR missing. so I used windows 7 cd installer, planning to reinstall my OS.. i restarted, reboot on cd/dvd, then "windows loading" appears.. after that black screen with appears.. wmouse pointer appears.. Laptop: toshiba A665 OS: windows 7 home premium
SO i jsut got a limited edition windows 7 ultimate 64bit cd and i previously has windows 7 64bit rc installed and when i install the disc i just got it installs fine and everything but when it restarts it goes to the finishing installation and then it starts to boot up but gets stuck at blk screen with the mouse. I have had this problem before with windows 7 rc but all i had to do was just start it in safe mode then shut it down from there and start it back up it normal mode and it worked, but this i cannot do that.
I go to safe mode and it goes to applying settings screen (doesnt do this in normal mode like it should) but it says it cannot finish this in the safe mode... so yeah... I am getting pretty mad because this is the final version of the software and it shouldnt have this problem.
I wanted to upgrade from Vista to 7, but I didn't want all of my programs to save. I bought an external HDD, and put all of my games and programs which I didn't want to get lost into the HDD. Then, I reinstalled Vista, so I had no data on my PC, but only on my external HDD.
After that, I installed Windows 7. Everything went well, until I had to boot my PC. It said it was loading windows (7), and than the screen turned black, and I haven't seen nothing exept of the mouse curser.
What could the problem be and how could I fix it?
I think the internet drivers are lost too. How can I reinstall them to have my web working?
[code] This info above is not for the PC in trouble.I have an ACER laptop and it all of a sudden went to a blue screen and then tried to reboot to a black screen with mouse pointer only. Tried my win 7 upgrade CD to see if I could repair and it only loads to the same end. No options are asked for.The blue screen has appeared a couple of times and states a unusable boot sector. I would like to run a checkdisk but cannot find one to put on a memory stick with a minimal operating system.I have tried all the reboot choices, F8, F2 and F12.I tried to use an old windows XP install CD and when I select install it says a HDD can not be found.
Occasionally when I boot up my PC (Windows 7 Pro SP1), the screen is dulled but the mouse pointer (arrow) is very bright. When it's like this, if I open an application the text and the caret pointer are very dull and difficult to read. The situation doesn't change if I try a different monitor. So far, the only way I've found to get back to normal is to re-boot.
A few nights ago I came home to my Win 7 64 bit desktop frozen in a busy state. Windows was running, but the cursor was indicating busy and the computer was locked up. After 10 minutes of waiting for it to respond (hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+Shift+Del had no response), I did a hard reboot (held down power button until the computer restarted). When the computer booted back up - I saw a "Resuming Windows" screen rather than "Starting Windows." Windows did load, and while everything appeared to run fine (Start menu would open and cursor was okay), no programs would open after clicking on them, and task manager would not appear. Fed up, I did another hard reboot. This time, Windows did not boot. The Windows 7 logo appears, gets very dim, and after a while a 0xed (Unmountable boot volume) BSOD appears and the computer restarts.
The fun really begins when trying to launch Windows Setup, any of the three safe modes, or last known good configuration. In the safe mode scenarios, safe mode never loads (gets hung up while loading drivers). For last known good configuration, I get the same BSOD. The really interesting part is Windows Setup. Windows setup loads (you see the loading bar), and then goes to a black screen. After a while (15-60 minutes), a cursor appears on the screen. You can move the cursor around - but that's it. Ctrl+Alt+Del has no effect. I've left the computer on for 24+ hours at this point - nothing else happens. I have a separate Windows 7 64 bit repair CD as well as a Windows 7 64 bit ERD CD. When forcing the computer to boot off the CDs, the same exact scenario occurs. Windows Setup loads...then black screen. Booted off an Ubuntu live CD - the harddrives (I have three) are all fine. Data is okay, SMART tests all pass. If I could just get to a place where I could run something like chkdsk or some fixboot commands - I'd probably be okay. But anytime I try to boot/run some Windows based software - everything goes to crap.
My next step (which I will probably work on tonight/tomorrow) is to remove the harddrive that has Windows installed on it (a ~70 GB hdd), hook it up to another computer through a USB cable system that will make it look like an external harddrive, and hopefully run chkdsk on it that way. I'm posting here to see if anyone has any suggestions or ideas though. It blows my mind that whatever is wrong with my Windows installation is somehow blocking a windows repair disc from loading.
Basically, my pointer keeps pushing to a certain point on my screen. It is not pushing in a direction but to a certain point on my screen. It does not do this during safe mode. It also does it during certain times during gaming, where I discovered the problem. For example, it didn't do this when I was placing a turret gun, during the game, but, did so when I tried to make the turret face a certain way and I could only make it face one way. I am doing to do virus scans. It is probably a virus because earlier that day when I tried to download something I accidentally used a download link inside a pop.
This isn't a problem per se, but I'm curious to know if it's possible to change the login screen mouse cursor. It's just the boring plain white arrow. There's probably a registry setting for it but I don't know where. A google search turned up nothing useful. It seems it's not something that interests many others. I'm running W7 Home Premium.
