View 1 RepliesI have an enigma with my PC. When i try to extract big files, copy, or install (games or anything) my pc becomes irresponsive and generally very SLOW. For sometimes I even cannot browse on internet, because firefox becomes very unstable.Recently i bought Assasin's creed brotherhood and while i was installing my pc was almost usseless. After installation i started the game and it was NOT playable, even the menu was usseless (cursor was very laggy, and impossible to control, and everything worked maybe at 2-3Fps)Strange thing is when i start task manager (c-a-d) my cpu ussage is at max 25% and memory at 55 max)notice that I can play assasin's creed 2 all maxed at 1920x1080.

I have it pluged in to a usb powered bus. The laptop has only 2 usb plugs and one is in use by the usb bus and the other by another device which will only work when not plugged in to a bus.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have Windows XP SP3 installed on drive CDrive D is empty - Used to have Windows XPDrive E is my data drive.I put the Windows 7 64 Bit DVD in, it boots up and states loading files, then I see the coloured dots make the Microsoft window, then a blue screen with coloured lines and what looks like leaves. The mouse works, but that's where it all stops. I don't see anything else. Do I need to do anything special at this stage to proceed?What I want to do.I want to install Windows Ultimate onto Drive D but keep my Windows XP install as Dual Boot for now. I imagine, the CD would give me options to install like XP used to on drive of my choice, format my D drive and install.

At first, I disabled RAID because of the blue screens and I found that one was bad and the second of the RAID 1 appeared fine. Well, I installed XP to ensure it would work and that was extremely slow. My client didn't have a disc to XP MCE, but instead bought Windows 7. The installation took about 12 hours and the system is often unresponsive. On resource monitor, the 2.13Ghz Conroe CPU is barely tapped and the 2GB of RAM is barely at 30%. However, the system takes forever to boot and it very often stops responding for a period of time.
I did my research and found out that this model--original specs--can handle 7 better than this. I told the client it was probably an HDD error, as it seems to hang everytime the system must access the HDD. I can't even run the Index to find out what the systems rating is. I mem tested the RAM and chkdsk the HDDs before removing the first because of its clear faults in its inability to hold an OS installation. I recently installed the 2.5.3 BIOS update, but I haven't had a chance to install a newer version of Intel Matrix Manager.
Ok this is my first post here. I have installed Windows 7 32 bit clean installs twice now on a Dell GX960 4 gig of Ram. I go to install Groupwise and Norton and I notice installs are going extremely slow, I can move the mouse and the speed seems normal. I have noticed this when I try to open the internet, move something, boot up, shut down I move the mouse and you can see the busy circle works normally, stop moving the mouse and the busy circle stutters and the machine seems really slow.
I have checked the event viewer and there is nothing there except where I have cancelled installs for office or adobe. I have checked the device manager and there is no conflicts. Deleted the Dell Laser mouse and rebooted, it reinstalled and still same issues.
I have installed this on 2 laptops and have no issues with them, they actually run GREAT! Decided to do my office machine and well, it is not going as smooth
Any ideas would be helpful. Anyone seen this before??
why is the reason that my laptop is too slow,.. but i dont really sure if it could be the mouse,.. is working very slow and i set it already in high speed,..so it gettind freezed each time I need to wait to continious next step..

The problem that i am having is that after installing windows 7 it freezes on the initial start up window where it is asking the language to install time and currency format and keyboard.
It took a long time to get to this screen as at first it just hung on what looked like a windows 7 desktop background with no icons. It hung like this for about 10 minutes and now it is stuck on the first install screen. I cant input any information the keyboard is plugged in and I have tried it with a wireless mouse as well as a wired mouse.
I have an Asus Essentio desktop and it didnt come with any Win7 discs. Is there anyway to extract Win7 and burn to a disc? I only ask because I want to rebuild my PC and wanted a fresh install without all the other software that came on my PC.

I wanted to reinstall xp on the laptop and did the mistake of using WET to transfer files to a stick as an MIG file only later to discover that xp doesn't recognize this file. Windows7 recognizes this file. But if I double click on this file it immediately starts copying the files (at least it displays this message and starts spinning). I then cancelled the action as I didn't want to extract into my Windows7 desktop. How can I extract the files into a separate folder so I can then take them to the laptop and transfer.

View 2 Replies View Relatedim running a windows 7 computer with dual video cards to support three monitors as its a work computer, i have 4gb of ram and i have a few work programs on the computer, it was running fine but recently the computer has started to become really slow randomly and the mouse will skip all over the place instead of being a smooth movement. just wondering if you guys have heard of it before. it seems to be when i ask the computer to do something (eg open another program or change from one program to another.) wasnt always like this. also the physical memory use is over 50% even when most stuff is closed. Also it seems slow to boot. but i think this was just the amount of programs opening on boot. ive disabled a few.

Specs of my desktop can be found here: TechComet: My Gadgets, Basically, I put my desktop to sleep (using S3-STR) and when I wake it up my moues does not respond for about 15-30 s after which it works fine. I am running Windows 7. I have no other problems with my system, my keyboard responds fine and I have all necessary drivers installed. I have no idea why this is happening and the fact that my computer resumes from sleep in 2 seconds is great, but not when I have to wait another 30 for the mouse to work!

Whenever I try to install Windows 7 the loading is very slow takes like 10-20 minutes to jump from the first screen to the 2nd until the formatting area where it just says "Failed to format selected partition Error Code: 0x80070057" and when I tried to press next it said "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation Error Code: 0x80070057"
The same thing happens to XP

Now I've send the PC back to the company as I still have a years warranty and they told me that their Windows Vista CD worked fine, so after I got the PC I tried installing Vista which gave me the same problems (slow loading) and cannot format, I've tried deleting the entire hard disk so I have 1 big Unallocated space and then installing but nothing works it all ends up with the same errors.Then I send the PC back again to them this time with my XP and Windows 7 64 bit DVD, they told me today the winXP cd is too old but the win 7 cd is perfectly fine and they managed to install it in 20 minutes.
I'm completely confused now, why doesn't the installation work for me and it does for them with the same CD? The only difference here and there is probably the psu connector, wireless keyboard/mouse that I have and I'm using a DVI-HDMI converter as my monitor doens't have a HDMI port.I've also tried using ICH sata drivers but Windows 7 doesn't detect any as compatible.Unfortunately they said they have to format the hard disk due to some legal issues before sending back.
I have a dell vostro 420, and I want to install windows 7 32bit home edition.
I was running xp fine untill a while ago. I was having hard drive problems.
I ended up getting a replacement hard drive, which is now in my PC.
I tried to do a clean install of 7, but the mouse and keyboard froze during install.
I'm able to install xp, which works fine, but would rather be running windows 7!
how can I fix this!?
I did manage to get it up and running eventually on the old hard drive-after turning off and on many many times during install due to mouse/keyboard freezes! and general 'hanging' at points during install

windows 7 safe mode worked fine.
So, I'm trying to install Windows 7. The keyboard and mouse seem to work fine until I get to the Windows 7 installation screen. When I'm there the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. Like, the mouse light and keyboard lights work up until the Windows 7 screen shows up. Anyone know what the problem is? I've had Windows 7 on it previously and had no issues, but wanted to do new clean install.

Being out of site out of mind type thing I wanted to get the best of my 6 gigs of ram I could and I reinstalled windows 7 x64. I'm having the same problem again.. Corrupt archives, damaged files etc. I'm 100% sure these downloads that I normally do (video games) archives are not corrupt and would be working perfectly in x86.

Almost all larger RAR (more than 3GB) will have this problem. So far smaller RAR I have no issue. I have tried extracting the same under different PC (OS Win XP) but without any issue. Which I believe not the RAR files been corrupted by itself. The corrupt files seems to be random.. Sometimes, I manage successful extraction, but sometimes I don't. I have the same problems even after clean installation. I have run memtest without any error. I am using 6gb ram
