Installation Is Deadly Slow (USB CDROM)
Nov 8, 2009
I'm trying to install windows 7 from external USB Cdrom. As I noted in topic - installation is deadly slow .. 1% in 20minutes. I was trying to find any options where they can be usb 1.1 or something and couldn't.

I've been having some issues with my download/upload speeds lately after upgrading mobo/processor and OS to 7 x64 and I haven't been able to track it. My average wired on other computers are around: 25 (download), 7 (upload) and wireless I generally see: 13 (download), 4 (upload). This particular setup was okay before, and I have another wireless router set up on the other side of my wall giving me full service. I don't have wireless problems with any other devices other then this one.

I've recently bought a new PC custom-build from the web 2 weeks ago and I can't get to install any operating system on it.the specs are:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2x 3.00GHz) 1333, 6mb
Power Supply - 450w PowerCool 80+
Motherboard Asus P5QL - P43 Chipset
Memory - 4gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800mhz CL5.0 (2x2gb)
Hard Drive 1 - 160gb SATA2 Hard Drive (WD 16000AAAJS)
20x Dual Layer DVDRW Drive (Lightscribe)
Graphics - 512mb Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX
Whenever I try to install Windows 7 the loading is very slow takes like 10-20 minutes to jump from the first screen to the 2nd until the formatting area where it just says "Failed to format selected partition Error Code: 0x80070057" and when I tried to press next it said "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation Error Code: 0x80070057"
The same thing happens to XP
"Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged.Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated. Consult your computer manual or SCSI adapter documentation for more information. You must select a different partition for Windows XP.To continue, press ENTER"
Now I've send the PC back to the company as I still have a years warranty and they told me that their Windows Vista CD worked fine, so after I got the PC I tried installing Vista which gave me the same problems (slow loading) and cannot format, I've tried deleting the entire hard disk so I have 1 big Unallocated space and then installing but nothing works it all ends up with the same errors. Then I send the PC back again to them this time with my XP and Windows 7 64 bit DVD, they told me today the winXP cd is too old but the win 7 cd is perfectly fine and they managed to install it in 20 minutes.
I'm completely confused now, why doesn't the installation work for me and it does for them with the same CD? The only difference here and there is probably the psu connector, wireless keyboard/mouse that I have and I'm using a DVI-HDMI converter as my monitor doens't have a HDMI port.I've also tried using ICH sata drivers but Windows 7 doesn't detect any as compatible.Unfortunately they said they have to format the hard disk due to some legal issues before sending back.

After the latest update my dvd drive, which is an hl-dt-st-dvdram gt32n is not showing in windows explorer. I cannot burn anything. Windows explorer hangs repeatedly and I can't do a clean shutdown at all. I went to device manager and it told me that Windows did not start a related device driver. I tried to update the driver but the scan is still running after 2 hours. I'm running window 7 x64 home premium with 4GB of memory. The computer is an asus k52f core i3.

Can anyone tell me, if the "Microsoft Windows Anytime Upgrade - Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional Operating System Software" that you see addvertised everywhere, is a CDrom or download application. Seems silly to me they would sell us a box just to find download instructions inside but...

I've been troubleshooting this computer for some time now. At first, I disabled RAID because of the blue screens and I found that one was bad and the second of the RAID 1 appeared fine. Well, I installed XP to ensure it would work and that was extremely slow. My client didn't have a disc to XP MCE, but instead bought Windows 7. The installation took about 12 hours and the system is often unresponsive. On resource monitor, the 2.13Ghz Conroe CPU is barely tapped and the 2GB of RAM is barely at 30%. However, the system takes forever to boot and it very often stops responding for a period of time.
I did my research and found out that this model--original specs--can handle 7 better than this. I told the client it was probably an HDD error, as it seems to hang everytime the system must access the HDD. I can't even run the Index to find out what the systems rating is. I mem tested the RAM and chkdsk the HDDs before removing the first because of its clear faults in its inability to hold an OS installation. I recently installed the 2.5.3 BIOS update, but I haven't had a chance to install a newer version of Intel Matrix Manager.

I bought this Fujitsu laptop for less than a year. Its only for my school work. It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing. For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.

I am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.

I just bought a new hard drive and a brand new Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit disc and I am doing a clean install on the new hard drive. it seems that everything is going normal, but at a random time during the installation, the computer just shuts off.sometimes it doesn't even get to the installation when it shuts off. sometimes it shuts off in the middle of the "windows is loading files..." black screen. there are no beeps when it shuts off or when I turn it back on. there are also no error codes.whenever i turn it back on it simply acts as if it never tried to install windows and starts the boot all over from the disc

So i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).
Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. Just SSD, USB cordless mouse, keyboard and no network cord or WIFI i started with a clean ssd as reccomended my bios recognized the ssd on post i booted into the win 7 install (MBR not uefi) i loaded the 64 bit rste drivers from asus as reccomended by others i left the machine to install the usb then booted into windows install (for whatever reason) i pushed f8 to boot my corsair windows brings up an error on a black screen File: windows/system32/drivers/adpahci.sys driver did not load Status: oxc0000221 Info: Windows Failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt

First, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.
This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

My home network is 2 desktop PC's and one Laptop all running Windows 7.My pwn desktop has a wired connection to the hub the other two are connected wirelessly. Both the wireless connections are work well with IE9, so the problem has to be with my PC.I have just reinstall Windows 7 - 64 bit from scratch, and yet IE9 (32-bit version)is taking some 5 minutes to download even the first screen of, say PCA.64-bit version is just as bad.I did think that the problem might have been caused by the fact that the PC was downloading all the Windows updates, but this has now stopped and IE9 is still very bad. I have managed to install Chrome and this is working fine, although I blowed if I can get Norton Safe to work in Chrome.

I've got some weird problem with my Windows 7 and my laptop fan. First, this is my laptop spec:
- Toshiba Satellite 09V
- Intel Dual-Core @ 1.5Ghz
- 3Gb Ram
The problem is before with XP, when my CPU get the 65oC, my fan turn on and turn very fast to evacuate the most air possible.
But with the new Windows 7, the fan turn but at a low speed, whatever the cpu temperature. Today, I've got 82oC and the fan don't turn faster to cool down the CPU.
In the performance setting in Windows 7, I've choose the "high performance", to get all the juice from my laptop (and in this setting, when I switch to battery, my laptop can run 2h30).
So, what can be the problem? Return to XP.

I am currently wanting to know is there a way that I can reduce the performance of my cpu, my gpu, or just my pc as a whole I have noticed that recently my laptop has been getting a little hot and as of right now the only thing im doing to try and keep it warm is that I have a fan for it, and I also use the windows power management settings thats come with windows seen here in this screenshot.I also wanted to know is it possible to get rid of unneeded processes that are located under the systems "windows task manager" and or other programs that have a habit of running in the background I think getting rid of unwanted background applications would help my pc stay cool aswell.
