i only ever use firefox, and would always keep it and other programs such as flash and java up to date. one day, some websites just quit working, like facebook, Internet, netflix, and various game sites. this problem continued for a few weeks, and i didn't do anything to try and problem solve it. then everything seemed to magically fix itself, so i figured that an automatic update had done the trick. however, a few months ago those problems started again and since then i have read many threads on how to fix them, uninstalled and reinstalled ff, java and flash countless times, including past versions of all of them. i even tried using ie and chrome, but i had the same problems with those browsers. as of right now, i cannot view flash based game sites (such as omgpop). i used to not be able to play games on facebook, but as of yesterday those suddenly work again. i cannot watch streaming videos on netflix, but Internet works fine. i cannot view content on many web pages (for example google images does not work at all, nor does googlemaps or mapquest). some pages only load partially even though it says they are 'done'. i often see 'javascript:void(0)' on websites. currently i am running the current versions of java and flash and ff 3.6. i have checked pop up blockers and script enabling and just about everything else. i am at a total loss of what to do. (even as i am typing this, i cannot click on any of the text editing tools or smilies and this is showing up as one big paragraph...)

Can I use the Super Multi Drive Installer which was designed for XP on Windows 7.where I can find the right Software for Win. 7.

I've uninstalled all browsers, reinstalled them, removed older versions of java and the current one and reinstalled it. I've also been into the Java settings to ensure Mozilla is enabled. I've also turned off all firewalls and virus software. Nothing is working and I'm out of ideas.When loading the java splash screen shows and it looks like it will load, but then it fails, always with a ClassNotFoundException.

In any browser.... they didn't work in the previous versions before i updated both Firefox and Chrome.As far as security software that I'm using, I've tried disabling all of it, and still have the same issues. Those programs are: Spybot S&D, AVG Free, Comodo firewall.Here's a good example of a java thing on a site that won't work for me.Covers.com has a login / password thing in the top right corner of their main page. I punch in my name and password, and neither hitting enter nor clicking on the Login link do anything. But I am experiencing this type of issue on many other sites. I can get on my laptop and go to the same sites and I have no issues, so it's something to do with this OS. Unfortunately, my laptop charger was lost so that's not an option. Plus, I'd really like to be able to use my tower for everything I do on the web.

I can not enable Java in Chrome or Firefox even though both of the settings claim that Java Runtime is enabled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 x64, JDK 7 U4 and the Java plugin just won't work correctly in any browser, be it IE9, Chrome 19, or Firefox 12. Both the Java installation and the browsers are 32-bit versions. The browsers simply hang or display nothing when a Java applet is supposed to load.I do Java development, so I need the JDK.I have tried everything it seems. Completely removed the JDK and reinstalled it, tried both JDK 7 U3 as well as whatever the latest version of JDK 6 is, tried with just the JRE, but the problem is still the same. I also used a tool called JavaRa to completely remove any remnants of Java before re-installing it.The Java plugin seems to be correctly listed in all browsers (for instance in "about : plugins" in Chrome), with the correct version, too. In Control Panel -> Java, I also have "Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in" enabled.Apart from the browser issue, Java seems to be correctly installed, as I can run "java" or "javac" from a command prompt and it will give the expected output. I am also able to compile Java source files as well as run Java bytecode without issues.A few times I have been able to get it to work in a browser. All of these times were directly after a fresh installation of the JDK/JRE, but then it seems to stop working after a short period of time.

I have this problems - many times when I'm viewing web pages with flash, the browser halts and I can't use the session anymore. It happens on both browsers. I've uninstalled it and then they work just fine but then I lose functionality. I tied to Install the latest flash version (10), but it halts the browsers again.
Anyone familiar with this problem?
I just got this new computer, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything was working fine at first, but then it automatically updated some things. Now, Flash doesn't work online anymore, in any browser. The content starts to load, then the browser freezes, and I have to force quit it.
I have the most recent version of Flash Player, and I can still play .swf files I make myself, so I don't know what to do anymore.
I'm fairly sure that this isn't an isolated problem, as a friend of mine is experiencing the same thing.
In a possibly related problem, .avi and other video files on my hard drive no longer play, nor do music files.
I doubt my specs are needed, since this is almost certainly a software problem, but I'm running on a Dell Studio, with a 2GHz dual core processor and with 4Gb of RAM.
so earlier in the week, flash decided to take a nosedive. no flash based websites will open, and Internet won't fully load videos like it used to (i have fios, and good up/download speeds). i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times, then once more but with flash version 10.2.
i'm unable to go to a system restore point because none of the points go back far enough. i thought it may have been my anti-virus, but even disabling that hasn't fixed it. is there anything else i can do? i'm prepared to toss the computer and call it quits.
i go to bbc.co.uk/iplayer, i click on something i want to watch i get there and the page appears but with no pre-video image or play button.i have just down graded from windows 7 64bit to windows 7 32bit as i thought this may have been the problem, due to flash 64bit problems. so i have a fresh install of windows 7.i have tried quite a few things, please see the list below:1. both firefox, chrome, ie 9 & ie 10. all with no flash or java installed, i know this is not right, but something interesting happened. the website did exactly the same thing as before, there was nothing telling me on the bbc website that flash was needed and go here to download it.2. installed different versions of flash and java, and in combinations of old & old, old & new, new & old, new & new.3. i have tried older versions of browers, this made no difference.4. my wifes computer does the same thing with firefox and chrome, but ie 9 does work correctly. we copied all settings from internet options, ie 9's settings from her's to mine. still nothing.

I have a Windows 7 installer DVD, but I would like to transfer the files to a USB 2.0 flash stick to install from there instead of a DVD. Can someone post a link to instructions for this and the software I need to put the files on the flash and make it bootable. There seem to be a number of applications that do this, but I would like to know that I am using something that is safe and proven to work well.
View 9 Replies View Relatedthe video playback in browser, every browser, using flash plugin [e.g. Internet, dailymotion, etc.] plays smoothly but freezes for a second or two every once in a while. this happens during full screen playback as well as windowed one.i also have a problem getting smooth playback using windowed mode of subedit player [i translate stuff so need this player feature, can't replace it for media player classic], even though full screen playback is just fine. same clips playback perfectly in mpc, vlc and other players. i guess the problem is somehow connected with the player, although my colleagues didn't experience this problem, neither did they experience choppy flash playback.i'm using 190.38_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql as drivers.

For that i have seen some installation copiers (backups) which remain in memory before installation and records the information of registry and system files being copied and records and the can again be copied to the different OS.
Is there any ways to do these which installation copier backup is good for doing this . finding such softwares which can copy or backup installation files registries and i can just use the same installers.
Ok, I have looked everywhere and tried several "solutions" to get windows to recognize where Java.exe so it can run .jar files.I'm running windows 7 64-bit with java 1.6 32-bit installed. And when I try to install craftbukkit I only get errors.I have copied these errors so you can view them at...So I searched all over google and tried to go to my computer, advanced settings, path and add the path there but i still get the same errors.I've been all over the mine craft and bukkit forums but no one there can explain how to fix it

View 0 Replies View RelatedI would make four partitions: 100GB, 100GB, 50 to 80GB and the rest for storage. You do have a 500GB drive???
The first one I would install is XP to the third 50 to 80GB partition; that way you won't have to mess with boot issues but I wonder if XP will then be the (I don't know the term) default partition that can't be formatted from within an OS; do you know what I'm referring to?
Then I would install Vista to the second 100GB partition; then Windows 7 to the first, as that would give 7 the fastest partition for future use.
I would be very interested in your thoughts on this setup, this is the way I intend to install to the new machine when I get it finished.
I just tried to format my Vista (the first OS installed on the first HDD) from within my Windows 7 and the format option is grayed out. This is what I was trying to say in the statement below; the reason this would ever matter is for any reason you should ever need to format the partition XP (or the first installed OS) is on you would have to use a third party partition manager to do so.
My system is a Asus L1N84 WS SLI FX74 This system has two physical processors on it. So its two dual cores making it 4 cores.(this is the main focus of this thread being started)
I have had this system since vista was new.
When I biult this system I ordered a copy of Vista Home Premium
When I got it up and running I noticed that when I went to system info it said I had 2 processors. Well I called Asus and AMD and Microsoft. And all of them said that the reason I was seeing two processors is because I have two processors. Me not wanting to hear it did alot of research until I found one thing that told me I was just being told what they thought would get me off the phone with them. And I am having the same issue with Windows7 RC1
What I told them is that is not a good answer because my previous system said I had 2 processors and that system was an AMD 4200 X2
So it said 2 processors and it was just ONE dual core.
Not to mention that this board got a horrible write up against Intel which caused AMD to trash the whole 4x4 idea. Bad for them because this is one hell of a system with all four cores running. Which were not running during those benchmarks against the Intel quad 6700 at the time. Remember I said I installed Vista Home premium.
Well it turned out while I was searching Microsofts web site I looked at the differences between Vista Home premium and ULTIMATE. There was my answer staring me right in the face.... Ultimate was the only version that had MULTI PHYSICAL CPU SUPPORT! So I then purchased Vista Ultimate and checked the amount of processors in the system window and also In CPUZ . And there they were......4 processors... Needless to say that I quickly benchmarked it again on pcpitstop and 3dmark 06 and on pcpitstop my numbers doubled!!!
Literally DOUBLED. Because now the other processor was being utilized.
I add in here about the issue with the Intel benchmark just to say that this system is and was totally comparable to any intel system at that time and AMD scrapped it because of a faulty test!!! The sites that did their reviews were only running one of the dual cores which is why it was only slightly better then one FX 60 in there reports!! THIS is over DOUBLE and FX 60 with all 4 cores running!
Anyway... Now to the issue about Windows7 ULTIMATE........
THEY didnt put that support in Windows7 Ultimate making it no good to use with a server board!! And now I have this OS in here and am only running on 2 cores AGAIN!!! What will microsoft do to fix this issue for all the people that want to run Windows7 in their servers boards INSTEAD of the new WINDOWS SERVER 2008?

The Microsoft technical support told me that they cannot answer that and I would have to call technical support after I purchase Windows7 and have the issues!! WHY WOULD I WANT TO PURCHASE IT WITH THIS ISSUE !!! ANYONE?? Help please? Microsoft?
Just to clarify the post above for anyone that says it.... I have ULTIMATE . that IS the RC1. And it says 2 processors and cpuz which said 4 before I installed this NOW says 2!
I'm planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (English) and not sure what version I should buy. I need to be able to switch into Japanese language mode for writing Word documents and composing/reading email sometimes. I do not need the desktop, menus etc. to be displayed in Japanese, however. I've found some info on the Internet and MS web site but still confused:
1) I have read that LIPs can be installed on any version of Win 7 but looks like Japanese must be installed as a full install (no parent language). If this is the case, can I setup 2 user accounts and configure one for English and the other for Japanese?
2) Do I need to have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise edition to do what I want to do?
i use a triple-head configuration with my center monitor specified as primary display. i have made some 3x Wide screen wallpapers, and i set them as the desktop backgrounds. it works fine with one caveat:
the images left most border starts on the center display --the image is triple wide, but the right-most third wraps around the the left display.
any ideas on how to properly center the image? i need the center display to be the primary as certain applications throw a fit when they are run on a non-primary channel.
I have been having a problem with trying to get Multi-Monitor resolutions set up. On XP my monitor setup is capable of 3360 x 1050; with 7 it automatically separates them and sets each resolution to 1680 x 1050, I would like to enable Span-extended desktop and have had no luck, CCC on XP allows this and on 7 the option simply isn't there. I was just wondering if I was overlooking something.

I have 3 screens which ran flawless with xp. In desktop Windows 7 is cool, as with browsing etc.. But when it comes to gaming i'm getting nothing but headaches... having to disable my outer screens struggle with resolutions. I hope there is a fix soon
I have a hp multi function hooked up to a win7pc by usb connection, I also have a laserjet hooked up to my ethernet lan. I am trying to install a hp 3310 with a ethernet connection. The latest Windows 7 hp software gets almost to the end of the install routine until it asks how I want to connect it. I choose ethernet and it checks whatever, it shows my 3310 connections correctly and then tells me it cant connect. Windows 7 add a device cant find it. I can ping the unit ok, and I can connect to it through the ip address, and i can scan through the browser. If i go to win7s add a printer it installs a basic print driver and allows me to print as normal. All other xp pcs on the lan can print to it.I would dearly love to use the scanner on the 3310.
By the way the 3310 worked with all functions when it was connected via usb to a xp pc.
As you increase the number of processors the performance improvement diminishes compared with the expected result -- for instance a system with 8 processors won't perform 8 times faster than a system with one processor due to the ovehead of managing the extra complexity of the interaction of all the processors. (Note the system will still be FAST of course !!).
Now wouldn't it be better to design say 128 and 256 bit architectures in the OS so you could still run many tasks concurrently but without the overhead of the multi processor environment - or at least have far less processors in the MP environment.
it was rumoured a while back that Windows 8 would have some 128 bit possibility -- I don't think there are any commercially available chips yet but thats only a matter of time.
