so earlier in the week, flash decided to take a nosedive. no flash based websites will open, and Internet won't fully load videos like it used to (i have fios, and good up/download speeds). i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times, then once more but with flash version 10.2.
i'm unable to go to a system restore point because none of the points go back far enough. i thought it may have been my anti-virus, but even disabling that hasn't fixed it. is there anything else i can do? i'm prepared to toss the computer and call it quits.
I just got this new computer, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything was working fine at first, but then it automatically updated some things. Now, Flash doesn't work online anymore, in any browser. The content starts to load, then the browser freezes, and I have to force quit it.
I have the most recent version of Flash Player, and I can still play .swf files I make myself, so I don't know what to do anymore.
I'm fairly sure that this isn't an isolated problem, as a friend of mine is experiencing the same thing.
In a possibly related problem, .avi and other video files on my hard drive no longer play, nor do music files.
I doubt my specs are needed, since this is almost certainly a software problem, but I'm running on a Dell Studio, with a 2GHz dual core processor and with 4Gb of RAM.
i only ever use firefox, and would always keep it and other programs such as flash and java up to date. one day, some websites just quit working, like facebook, Internet, netflix, and various game sites. this problem continued for a few weeks, and i didn't do anything to try and problem solve it. then everything seemed to magically fix itself, so i figured that an automatic update had done the trick. however, a few months ago those problems started again and since then i have read many threads on how to fix them, uninstalled and reinstalled ff, java and flash countless times, including past versions of all of them. i even tried using ie and chrome, but i had the same problems with those browsers. as of right now, i cannot view flash based game sites (such as omgpop). i used to not be able to play games on facebook, but as of yesterday those suddenly work again. i cannot watch streaming videos on netflix, but Internet works fine. i cannot view content on many web pages (for example google images does not work at all, nor does googlemaps or mapquest). some pages only load partially even though it says they are 'done'. i often see 'javascript:void(0)' on websites. currently i am running the current versions of java and flash and ff 3.6. i have checked pop up blockers and script enabling and just about everything else. i am at a total loss of what to do. (even as i am typing this, i cannot click on any of the text editing tools or smilies and this is showing up as one big paragraph...)

so far it's only facebook (of websites) not working, and then of course flash and java.i would like to avoid comments such as: "just don't use facebook then *hurhhurh*" as the problem runs somewhat deeper than just not being able to use facebook. this computer is just about 4 months old as well, and i'm breaking my skull trying to figure out what the heck is causing this. on a side note i am up to date on both anti-spyware and anti-virus, and i've run several scans in both secure and normal mode.all comes up empty.
I have a windows 7 64 bit.I'm using firefox 18.0.2 and when I try saving an image the only libraries I can save to are Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos. There is no Desktop option. If I want to save to the desktop I have to go all the way to "C:UsersJustinDesktop" I can't just click "Desktop" and save it like I can with Music, Pictures, etc.
I have Windows 7 RTM, and I'm using both FF 3.5 and IE8. I have this problems - many times when I'm viewing web pages with flash, the browser halts and I can't use the session anymore. It happens on both browsers. I've uninstalled it and then they work just fine but then I lose functionality. I tied to Install the latest flash version (10), but it halts the browsers again.

I'm running WIN 7 on my home pc and transferred some files via a Flash Drive to a laptop running XP Pro to go on a trip. Upon my return I update my home pc with the data from laptop/FD; I've done this with no problem many times. Upon my return this time my home pc will not recognize the FD. I've updated the driver, checked Disk Management, etc all to no avail. The FD isn't recognized and neither is a second FD I tried. They both work on the laptop.
the video playback in browser, every browser, using flash plugin [e.g. Internet, dailymotion, etc.] plays smoothly but freezes for a second or two every once in a while. this happens during full screen playback as well as windowed one.i also have a problem getting smooth playback using windowed mode of subedit player [i translate stuff so need this player feature, can't replace it for media player classic], even though full screen playback is just fine. same clips playback perfectly in mpc, vlc and other players. i guess the problem is somehow connected with the player, although my colleagues didn't experience this problem, neither did they experience choppy flash playback.i'm using 190.38_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql as drivers.
I have Windows 7. I am using IE 8. My browser will stop working. I do a restart and it will work good for awhile. Then I have do do the same thing about every 5 Min.

Windows IExplored(9)-32 & Crome-32 do not work. (Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.) IExplorer(9)-64 works just fine. I've been researching my issue for a few days now and have no success inplementing the recommended fixes I've found, which included - I'll rip them off for you, without looking up the exact phrasing:
1 command line winsock flush ets.
2 "Turn Windows features on or off" uncheck, restart, recheck.
3 Complete un-install of windows Internet Explorer and re-install (from Windows update module).
4 Toolsinternet options eset.
There seems to be something fundamental to the Windows 7 64 Ultimate operating system that is preventing the 32 bit browers from working.
I'm using java 7 latest version.I've installed the 32 version and am using windows 7 x64. Java is not working in any browser. I've uninstalled all browsers, reinstalled them, removed older versions of java and the current one and reinstalled it. I've also been into the Java settings to ensure Mozilla is enabled. I've also turned off all firewalls and virus software. Nothing is working and I'm out of ideas. When loading the java splash screen shows and it looks like it will load, but then it fails, always with a ClassNotFoundException.
Firefox is my main browser-Have also tried Google Chrome and IE9OS is Win 7 x64 EnterpriseSome java buttons on websites just don't work. In any browser.... they didn't work in the previous versions before i updated both Firefox and Chrome. As far as security software that I'm using, I've tried disabling all of it, and still have the same issues. Those programs are: Spybot S&D, AVG Free, Comodo firewall. Here's a good example of a java thing on a site that won't work for me.Covers.com has a login / password thing in the top right corner of their main page. I punch in my name and password, and neither hitting enter nor clicking on the Login link do anything. But I am experiencing this type of issue on many other sites. I can get on my laptop and go to the same sites and I have no issues, so it's something to do with this OS. Unfortunately, my laptop charger was lost so that's not an option. Plus, I'd really like to be able to use my tower for everything I do on the web.
Ok so I have a fairly new computer that had Vista on it. I got the free upgrade and upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been using 7 for about 3 weeks now with no problems at all. Then out of nowhere approx 3-4 days ago, the internet doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Once in a while web pages wouldnt load and now most of the time my browser will fail to load any pages. I called my ISP tech support and everything is fine on their end, and I can confirm that I am indeed connected because I can play multiplayer games, use utorrent and occasionally msn messenger.I've tried both Firefox 3.5.5 (default) and IE 8. It appears that there is some conflict somewhere that is denying me internet access. I need this resolved ASAP since most of my school notes are online and it's midterm/finals time.
While talking to tech support I was advised that restoring windows to a backup may solve the problem. So I did that with a backup that was 3 days old and it worked for maybe an hour then I had the same problem.I should also note that I am NOT using wireless. I have a wired cable connection. When the browser does decide to work, I find that it is very slow. Even my download speeds on utorrent have decreased drastically.
my Skype is the only one working on my laptop. All the others (yahoo messenger, internet browser, google chrome, firefox) arent. Although, when I connect it directly to the modem, it works fine. When I use our wireless connection with a router, the Skype works but my internet browser and yahoo messenger doesnt. Did my dad tweak with the router? Is that possible?
I am running Win 7 Pro SP1, but this problem started before I upgraded to SP1. In my start menu, 64 bit IE8 opens and works just fine, but the 32 bit version does NOT run. Also, the Windows update choice on my menu does not run (Does that require the 32 bit version?). When I try to connect to the update via its website, it always refers me back to the start menu, so no help. Is there some registry key that got turned off?
I am the system admin on the home laptop. I didn't change the password but now the dialog box will not recognise the password.. I didn't set up a recovery disc
Been using Divx Plus and it's converter on trial and love the compact conversion of my divx files, but recently to click on the icon on desktop will not bring up either program. I've tried reinstalling too to no avail.
I know, should have a backup, I was actually about to create a backup when the flash drive failed on me unfortunately. My newest backup is from about 5 days ago, so I'd prefer to be able to restore the current files.
I moved the drive over to another computer and tried to save a file but when I checked again the file was gone, like it never saved at all. Subsequently, after removing and plugging it back in the computer did not detect the drive (or see it in disc management). It does show up as a generic USB drive in the device manager, but there are no properties for it.
When I add it to a computer, it still adds drivers for it, but then nothing happens after that. It may also be a hardware problem, since the drive fell on the ground pretty hard a while back, but seemed to be working fine. There isn't an easy way to open it up and check.
I also tried using a few data recovery programs, but they couldn't detect the drive either.
Sometime when I upload a picture on facebook status ,my browser stop working!I use Google Chrome .. So I close the browser and open it again and restore.
I'm using Win 7 64 bit on a Vaio laptop that's less than a year old. Recently I'm having problems safely removing flash drives, portable drives and other devices. The SRH icon appears in the tray, but nothing happens when you click on it. Trying to eject from My Computer often doesn't work either, as the "eject" option is simply missing from the context menu.I tried an idea I found on the MS forums, of creating a shortcut to the Safely Remove dialog, but that doesn't work either.(Shortcut to: C:WindowsSystem32 undll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll) -- on at least one device, it claims the portable hard drive is not a removable drive.
Yesterday windows wouldn't get past the black log on screen. I did a restore from a couple of weeks ago and it started fine. Today, same thing. So I tried the restore again, using a slightly older restore point. It got me in and I immediately opened malwarbytes and updated the file but the system locked up before it finished. I tried opening in safe mode but it locked up again. I tried another restore but was prompted to run chkdsk /r because of freecell problem. Didn't work. I tried again and received unspecified error (0x8000fff).
I had to replace my hard drive in my computer and did so, re-installing all of the necessary drives and components, and when attempting to create a homegroup using the new "computer" (old tower with the new 2TB drive and reinstalled windows, etc) it is telling me that the old "computer" (the drive that crashed) has the password for the homegroup, but OBVIOUSLY I cannot access that "computer" because the drive crashed. How do I delete the homegroup that was created by the dead and therefore inaccessible computer and create a new one with the new computer?
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR51SU Laptop which was running Windows Vista 32 Bit. I purchased windows 7 and installed the 64 Bit version. Everything seems to work fine apart from my Matshita BD-MLT UJ-220S Bluray burining drive. The laptop only sees it as a CD Rom. the device appears with the correct name as above but only as a cd rom capability. It can read and write CD's and it can read normal Dvds. It no longer Burns Dvd or Bluray whatever I seem to do.The sony site does not provide drivers or anything that will sort this out as they don't officially support this machine being upgraded to windows 7. I cant find any vista 64 Bit drivers for it as I imagine they would work, I cant even find the 32bit drivers for this device - Although I dont imagine that would work even if I did.
I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen. My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
I think I may have screwed up royally with my still-new computer. Essentially, my problem is two-fold:
1) The shortcut icons on my desktop no longer work. I'm pretty sure I deleted the files from my computer (I'll explain in a little bit). Ex: I try to click on Mozilla, and nothing happens. If I attempt to send the same icon to the Recycle Bin, it will tell me that the file no longer exists. It says: "This is no longer located in "C: UsersKevinDesktop"
2) I am no longer able to access my Gmail. I no, I know that isn't a Windows 7 thing, but let me explain. When I go to Google in Internet Explorer and click on Gmail, I get a message that says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." When I click on the "Diagnose Connection Problems" button, a box that says "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting" appears.
So those are essentially my issues. Essentially, everything was working fine before I started messing with my files. Here's the scoop: This is the first computer I've ever had that had a split hard drive (C and D). I noticed that the D drive never had anything saved to it, so I decided that I would move my files that began with the pathway "C: Users" over there. I literally just clicked and dragged that over to the D drive. Then...I noticed stuff was wrong. The issues I mentioned before (shortcuts and GMail) and also that what little music I had on my iTunes was unable to be located.
I realized that it was probably that the shortcut icons, the iTunes songs were looking for files that had been moved...I decided to move them back. So I clicked and dragged the folder in D back over to C. It told me that some of the files already existed in C, and it asked if I wanted to merge them. I said yes. So. Problem still persists. I have figured it out with my iTunes and have got the program to locate everything, but I am still unable to fix the other issues. I can't find those files for the desktop anywhere, and I can't even begin to figure out what to do with the GMail issue, but I feel it has to be linked, right???
