Although my webcam still works for skype and I've have looked for it's files whilst it has been on but I can't find anything

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus 1215n netbook. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. The drive came with the following partitions:
100 GB Windows 7
15 GB Asus Expressgate (a quick-boot minimal OS)
118 GB Empty partition
15 MB (unknown)
I had been using TrueCrypt to encrypt the 100 GB system partition, which required that I enter a password before booting into windows.Other than that I never touched it until now. Today I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, so after making sure everything I wanted to keep was on the 118 GB partition, I booted into the Windows 7 setup, formatted *only the 100 GB partition* from within the setup, and selected it as the volume to which to install.Upon restarting, the third partition wasn't shown in My Computer. I went to Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management, which shows the following partitions:
100 GB Healthy
15 GB Healthy
118 GB Free space
20 MB Healthy
I've done these exact steps in the past with similar configurations, and have never had this happen to me before. I can only surmise that this is due to having had a TrueCrypt boot manager, but beyond that I am uncertain. how I might be able to recover this partition?
After a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, I used windows update to install all the updates available, and then after restarting I install the AMD graphics drivers. Upon rebooting, the system just hangs on the Windows Loading Logo.
What I have done so far:
I have tried the 11.10 and 11.11 drivers, same effect.I tried just using the driver only and the full catalyst package, both produce the same results.I have tried installing the drivers supplied by windows, but this process fails with an error code that suggests that I already have drivers in place. I have used driver sweeper in safe made to get rid of any video drivers before trying to reinstall, but the effect is the same. After every driver install, I must reboot into safe mood and restore to a previous point to be able to boot back into the full version of windows.
Previous History:This system was working fine with the 11.10 Catalyst package before reinstalling windows.

I am running Win 7 Pro SP1, but this problem started before I upgraded to SP1. In my start menu, 64 bit IE8 opens and works just fine, but the 32 bit version does NOT run. Also, the Windows update choice on my menu does not run (Does that require the 32 bit version?). When I try to connect to the update via its website, it always refers me back to the start menu, so no help. Is there some registry key that got turned off?

View 3 Replies View Relatedso earlier in the week, flash decided to take a nosedive. no flash based websites will open, and Internet won't fully load videos like it used to (i have fios, and good up/download speeds). i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3 times, then once more but with flash version 10.2.
i'm unable to go to a system restore point because none of the points go back far enough. i thought it may have been my anti-virus, but even disabling that hasn't fixed it. is there anything else i can do? i'm prepared to toss the computer and call it quits.
Been using Divx Plus and it's converter on trial and love the compact conversion of my divx files, but recently to click on the icon on desktop will not bring up either program. I've tried reinstalling too to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Win 7 64 bit on a Vaio laptop that's less than a year old. Recently I'm having problems safely removing flash drives, portable drives and other devices. The SRH icon appears in the tray, but nothing happens when you click on it. Trying to eject from My Computer often doesn't work either, as the "eject" option is simply missing from the context menu.I tried an idea I found on the MS forums, of creating a shortcut to the Safely Remove dialog, but that doesn't work either.(Shortcut to: C:WindowsSystem32 undll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll) -- on at least one device, it claims the portable hard drive is not a removable drive.
View 10 Replies View RelatedYesterday windows wouldn't get past the black log on screen. I did a restore from a couple of weeks ago and it started fine. Today, same thing. So I tried the restore again, using a slightly older restore point. It got me in and I immediately opened malwarbytes and updated the file but the system locked up before it finished. I tried opening in safe mode but it locked up again. I tried another restore but was prompted to run chkdsk /r because of freecell problem. Didn't work. I tried again and received unspecified error (0x8000fff).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to replace my hard drive in my computer and did so, re-installing all of the necessary drives and components, and when attempting to create a homegroup using the new "computer" (old tower with the new 2TB drive and reinstalled windows, etc) it is telling me that the old "computer" (the drive that crashed) has the password for the homegroup, but OBVIOUSLY I cannot access that "computer" because the drive crashed. How do I delete the homegroup that was created by the dead and therefore inaccessible computer and create a new one with the new computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR51SU Laptop which was running Windows Vista 32 Bit. I purchased windows 7 and installed the 64 Bit version. Everything seems to work fine apart from my Matshita BD-MLT UJ-220S Bluray burining drive. The laptop only sees it as a CD Rom. the device appears with the correct name as above but only as a cd rom capability. It can read and write CD's and it can read normal Dvds. It no longer Burns Dvd or Bluray whatever I seem to do.The sony site does not provide drivers or anything that will sort this out as they don't officially support this machine being upgraded to windows 7. I cant find any vista 64 Bit drivers for it as I imagine they would work, I cant even find the 32bit drivers for this device - Although I dont imagine that would work even if I did.

I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen. My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.

I think I may have screwed up royally with my still-new computer. Essentially, my problem is two-fold:
1) The shortcut icons on my desktop no longer work. I'm pretty sure I deleted the files from my computer (I'll explain in a little bit). Ex: I try to click on Mozilla, and nothing happens. If I attempt to send the same icon to the Recycle Bin, it will tell me that the file no longer exists. It says: "This is no longer located in "C: UsersKevinDesktop"
2) I am no longer able to access my Gmail. I no, I know that isn't a Windows 7 thing, but let me explain. When I go to Google in Internet Explorer and click on Gmail, I get a message that says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." When I click on the "Diagnose Connection Problems" button, a box that says "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting" appears.
So those are essentially my issues. Essentially, everything was working fine before I started messing with my files. Here's the scoop: This is the first computer I've ever had that had a split hard drive (C and D). I noticed that the D drive never had anything saved to it, so I decided that I would move my files that began with the pathway "C: Users" over there. I literally just clicked and dragged that over to the D drive. Then...I noticed stuff was wrong. The issues I mentioned before (shortcuts and GMail) and also that what little music I had on my iTunes was unable to be located.
I realized that it was probably that the shortcut icons, the iTunes songs were looking for files that had been moved...I decided to move them back. So I clicked and dragged the folder in D back over to C. It told me that some of the files already existed in C, and it asked if I wanted to merge them. I said yes. So. Problem still persists. I have figured it out with my iTunes and have got the program to locate everything, but I am still unable to fix the other issues. I can't find those files for the desktop anywhere, and I can't even begin to figure out what to do with the GMail issue, but I feel it has to be linked, right???
i have an issues with my library file my library its looking like this and i cant open it !and there is no " users "folder in the c:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a newish HP notebook and I frequently use skype for voice and video chatting with friends and family; however, It recently has stopped working for no apparent reason. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I did notice that the webcam stopped working after I updated skype recently. The microphone also now works intermittently.. If I initiate a call with skype, my microphone will not work, but if I make a test call to the echo test service it works, and then works subsequently on my call afterwards. If I go to initiate any type of video exchange, a picture of youcam displays as my webcam image asking to start my webcam as seen here in this picture from my skype webcam settings This also shows when trying to use my webcam on chatroulette, omegle, etc. Here, when I start the youcam program itself I get this error message If I go to tools and settings in the youcam program (which I can only access when I start the program via skype?) I click the dropdown menu to select my webcam device but no options show.
Here is a picture of my device manager, which suddenly displays no evidence of the hardware, even after scanning for hardware changes. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone from HP support and got no where. They tried to remote connect to my computer using some sort of HP support software instead of windows remote connect. They could never connect and told me I need to backup everything on my computer and format it!? Does this sound normal? I said never mind and hung up, I figure there has to be an easier way to deal with this. Perhaps if I cannot find a solution here I will take that step but figured I would try here first.
