View 6 RepliesI was infiltrated by a virus , have my pc back up and running after trying everything I have been suggested to do , then finally combofix got it cleared up. however my security flag flashes off for a split sec, then back to on. had eset and malwarebytes. can't run sfc scan get "Windows Protection could not perform the requested operation".
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the beginning of the year I got the infamous malware that infected many PC's worldwide (can't remember the name) and got my action center completely destroyed. I eventually fixed it, by adding the Security Center service that was gone, but one issue still remains: the action center system tray icon is greyed out, and impossible to turn back on!
I searched online, and the most common solution I've found was to run the sfc /scannow command. So I did, and for some reason it stops at 69% and after about a minute stuck at that number it says: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" I tried multiple times, but the same error happens every time. How can I fix this error, without re-installing the OS? Or is this only solved that way?
Specs:
Windows 7 home prem
64 bit
Running sfc /scannow as administrator. scannow stops at 64% EVERY time. I've run chkdsk. . no errors. Have not run in safe mode. Never had to before.First received: err msg from "window command processor" Then received err msg "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation." Received this 3 times in a row.I have run scannow successfully in the past without issue. This is a first.
I've been unable to diagnose an error I've been receiving when I try to open programs (Error 170 "The Requested Resource is in Use"). I've googled the problem and although it appears to be a fairly common error, almost every site I've been to seems to think that I have some kind of removable storage hooked up, which I don't. This is happening whenever I try to open a program whether it be Advanced SystemCare or System Restore. Further more, I'm unable to manage several tasks in Windows, such as creating user accounts. My anti-virus has come up clean, so I'm at a loss.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot print a Live Mail message using File->Print. It dies with error message "cannot supply requested class" naming line 2378 and code 0. File problem is res://ieframe.dll/previewjs.Other problem was WLM starting with "Message Database not found." For this one there was no Inbox messages, and several other folders were empty (all locally created by me). I spent a bit of time restoring my messages from Comcast and resorting my local files. then, I had to use saved folders in WLM to get some old messages. Then redelete messages from 1-2-2013 that were on Comcast. I dumbly downloaded IE10 to "try" it. It turns out you can't get rid of it, and I suspect that it is the source of these problems. However, you can't turn it off! I tried reinstalling IE9 and was told "it is already installed -- install failed." So I'm stuck with 10. I removed and reinstalled printer driver and every program works perfectly EXCEPT WLM, using ieframe.dll. I looked into replacing this dll with advice on the net, but there are things like REG Pro (or something like that) which are reviewed as causing problems and malware.
should I persist in trying to get a "new" copy of ieframe.dll or is that embedded in IE10? Can I get rid of IE10 and revert back to 9? Or what is solution; wait until IE10 is official and gets reinstalled? I wish I had noticed it was a Beta. When I installed it, the button read "Try it" which was all I was going to do. Meantime I installed Chrome so I have a backup browser. I am currently designing my monster gamer and when I get it glued together I'm not sure if I should go straight to Windows 8 or not. (I have one license left for 7 from a three chair version.)
I've got Visual InterDev 6 installed using Seamless XP Mode.If I open a file on the host disk, which opens interdev I cannot save any changes, and I get this error:"The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open" If I save to a new file in the same folder, it saves ok, but any subsequent edits return the same error if I try to save.Is this a permissions problem with windows 7 and XP mode, or a quirk with the old interdev software?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI keep receiving a pop-up with the above message concerning my USB ports..when nothing is connected. From reading around I suspect the problem may be a stray driver from some software package but how do I detect which? I can see at least one in Device Manager relating to a programme I've deleted in the past. Another is for Virtual WiFi (I had difficulties with the MiniPort Adapter at one stage) but I gather that will be coming into use at some point? Bit of a novice, can someone reassure me how to detect the problem and fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. While trying to add a network printer (HP LaserJet 4250n) I got the following error message: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e.
The printer works fine from my Windows 7 Pro desktop, and also from other laptops with Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've tried installing Microsoft's hotfix (982728), installing locally on LPT2 and running 'net use LPT2 \Computernamesharedprintername /persistent:yes', updating the driver. None of these worked.
I have two computers I want to connect to a network printer. The printer is a Konica Minolta. When I try to connect it to these computers I get:windows cannot connect to the printer operation failed with error 0x00000002 Both computers are windows 7 and previously were connected to the printer. I had to reinstall the OS on both machines thus the reason Im reconnecting the printer to them. The computers are attached to our domain. Other computers in the office are able to connect to and use this printer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. After it rebooted, on the Windows 7 loading screen it shows "Applying update operation XXXX of XXXX". After a certain number it says "Error applying operation XXXX of XXXX", and then the system proceeds to hang on that screen, meaning that I am unable to access Windows. I try mashing F8 for my life when resetting the computer, but I never get a list of boot options, so I cannot get into Safe Mode or even try the computer's Last Known Good Configuration. The edition of this version of Windows 7 is 64 bit Ultimate. The laptop I am using is also 64 bit Ultimate.
Another thing I want to point out is that both of these computers have been taking an incredibly long time (near 12 hours at this point) trying to download and install Service Pack 1. There is no spyware or anything running in the background. I am fearing that I might get the same error on this machine but I have taken the liberty of creating a System Restore point in the event it happens. I have two other Windows 7 machines in the house (32 bit Professional and 64 bit Home Premium), and both of them installed Service Pack 1 without any kind of problem, and both of those computers installed them rather quickly.
So after the change of the WEP encryption key, there is another issue that emerged out of nowhere again. This time it's the DNS server error, and other windows in our house can connect except for me. I can enter the security key this time however the wireless icon indicates a exclamation mark icon overlapping it. I tried using cmd and typed ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew with a reboot afterwards, changed the Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 on their DNS server address settings, resetting the router and configuring the network adapter but it doesn't work.
Although, the windows 7 can sense the internet and connect it but the result came up "DNS server error" and "DNS cannot communicate with the resource error". I currently don't hold the real password for the router, however I managed to retrieved the old WEP password for the router. My cousin has the password, whenever he types the password now which I don't know at this stage doesn't work (Security Key Mismatch) and when I secretly tried the old password, it worked but with an exclamation mark on the wireless icon.
I am trying to install printer from network but it gives operation failed with error 0x000003e3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to rectify the error with windows update. Everytime I try to update it tells me it is checking for updates...Then "To check for updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update. Your automatic Updating settings will not change." I click Install now and get "Window could not search for new updates"An error occured while checking for new updates for your computer. Error(s) Found Code 80070643 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
This problem first came to light a year ago when I downloaded a windows update that was corrupt. It forced the computer to loop the autocheck upon boot and could only be started in safe mode or by canelling the check. After looking through the forums I found an interim fix which disabled the autocheck and since have always recieved the message upon restarting "Autocheck program not found".I naturally thought this issue would be resovled in the next update and or a future fix.I had to go away for work at the start of this year and when I got back and windows updated it still had the autocheck message.Recently I have been unable to update at all due to the aforementioned error. The simplest soultion it would seem would be to do a system restore, this I have tried however every possible point seems to have a corrupt file on it.I ran a scan using Malwarebytes and found nothing.I don't want to format as the programs came pre installed and that would mean taking to back to the shop.
I'm trying to get Network Discovery to stay on, but it always reverts to off. In trying to activate the UPnP service for this but get the error message 1079..the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. This may be what's preventing Network Discover from being activated.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhis past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

I run plain-vanilla Windows-7 on a new Dell desktop, at home. I use Outlook for mail and it worked normally for a month. But recently when I click on a link in an email, program displays, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." This seems to be a genuine Windows msg, not a virus.

I have been messing around with Ubuntu and other OS's and after I installed Ubuntu on a 5gb partition, I realized that is way too small, so I went into Windows, opened up Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) and just deleted the volume. Well now I have a green partition and when I try to delete the partition, I get the error "There is not enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation" I am doing this all on my internal hard dive in my laptop.
