Windows Cannot Connect To The Printer - Operation Failed With Error 0x0000007e
Jul 14, 2011
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. While trying to add a network printer (HP LaserJet 4250n) I got the following error message: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e.
The printer works fine from my Windows 7 Pro desktop, and also from other laptops with Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've tried installing Microsoft's hotfix (982728), installing locally on LPT2 and running 'net use LPT2 \Computernamesharedprintername /persistent:yes', updating the driver. None of these worked.

I am on a dell XPS laptop and trying to print to the network printer in my office. I can install everyother printer on the network but the main one. Add Printer finds the one I want and tries to install it but then give be a "Windows cannot connect to the printer, Operation failed with error 0x00000057" I have downloaded and installed the driver from the Toshiba website for an e-Studio 450 and copied that driver folder into the "FileRepository" folder but that didn't seem to work either.

I am unable to connect my computer with a Network printer in my organization. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium-64bit on my laptop. The problem here is, when I try to add a new printer as:Devices and Printers> Add a Printer> Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. The wizard searches for a few seconds than my LAN automatically gets disconnected. The other way round I've also tried to manually add the printer but it didn't work. It gives the error "Cannot Connect to Printer. Error 0x0000007e" The printer in Network is RICOH Aficio 8001 PCL6.I've tried to contact my IST department but they are saying that we are also unable to connect it with 64-bit operating system.

at work we use a public calendar in Outlook 2010 that is used to book the conference room. Today multiple users (XP and Win 7) are getting this error when they try to book the conference room. The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.Restarting Outlook has not helped. So far this is only happening in the public calendar.

I have:
Dell Laptop Inspiron 1440
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM Full
3 GB Memory (2 Gb and 1 Gb sticks)
On board video
On board sound
Intel Dual Core Processor
After I removed an iPod from my laptop I never had installed before I got the BSOD after I restarted the computer. The message stated "Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change may be the cause". I have tried startup repair from the OEM disc and have had no luck after 5 or more tries. I can boot into safe mode fine and connect to the internet. It will not start normally. The two options you get are start normally or launch startup repair and both of these fail when attempting. It always shows the error code 0x0000007e but some of the code in the parathensis change each time I boot the computer.

Since I update my nvidia graphic card driver to the last ver 296.10 i got a BSOD 0X0000007e, every time I turn my screen on (I don't have sleep mode or hibernate mode or screensaver active). As long as I using the computer everything fine, but if I don't using the computer for several hours and move the mouse to turn on the display I get this error.
I try to download some hotfix from microsoft that related to this issue but it say in every try: this hotfix don't match to your computer.

I am using Windows 7 - Home Premium 64bit. There is only one user on this machine which is Administrator and this computer is not connected with any networks. I am trying to move all of User's folders to D: drive. I have successfully moved, My Pictures, My Documents, My Videos, Contacts and other folders but when I try to move "Desktop" folder, it gives me an error message at the end of the operation (after coping all the data to the new location) that "Folder Redirection Failed", "Operation was cancelled by the user". I have tried to change the location several times for this Desktop folder but every time I do it, I get this error message.
Now situation is... Data from my Desktop is present in its default location but also copied to D:UsersMyNameDesktop folder. Means, exactly the same data is placed on two different locations but default Desktop location is still at C: drive. Why I am unable to change my Desktop location? I am trying to change the location by right clicking on Desktop folder in User's folder, then Properties and then Location tab. It's exactly the same way by which I moved all of my other User's folders successfully.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have been for years. I have had no problems previously that I was unable to fix.
This morning when starting up my pc I got the error message "Failed to connect to a windows service" In addition it has defaulted to windows classic theme and I can not re enable Aero.
I looked at the Event log but it is simply beyond my level of understanding how to address the errors. Also all errors shown seem to be relativity longstanding/ recurring.

I went to the HP site to download the latest driver for my printer model, but on this page it says:HP PSC 1200 All-in-One Printer series - HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows 7 - HP Business Support Center "The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product.Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product."

I recently bought a maxtor 500 gb external hdd and i just cant get it to work with windows 7, i got a computer at home where i want to keep it that has windows 7 rc , I have tryed everything i can think of to make it work but nothing does, I cant see it in my computer or with the explorer, but I can see it with computer management, It doesn´t have a drive letter or NTFS and I just cant do anything to it, I cant format it then I get the error "An unexpected error has occured. check the system event log for more information on the error. Close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer".Nothing works, I cant put a drive letter to it then i get the error "The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console then restart Disk Management or restart the computer."Now im getting pretty annoyed with trying different things on it but can´t seem to make it work, now on the other hand it does work on my laptop computer wich has Windows vista, and it works fine, also works on another computer I have that has Windows XP, can anyone please help me with this problem I would prefer to not have to format it since I did put alot of data on it from my other computers but if I have to then so be it .

I installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. After it rebooted, on the Windows 7 loading screen it shows "Applying update operation XXXX of XXXX". After a certain number it says "Error applying operation XXXX of XXXX", and then the system proceeds to hang on that screen, meaning that I am unable to access Windows. I try mashing F8 for my life when resetting the computer, but I never get a list of boot options, so I cannot get into Safe Mode or even try the computer's Last Known Good Configuration. The edition of this version of Windows 7 is 64 bit Ultimate. The laptop I am using is also 64 bit Ultimate.
Another thing I want to point out is that both of these computers have been taking an incredibly long time (near 12 hours at this point) trying to download and install Service Pack 1. There is no spyware or anything running in the background. I am fearing that I might get the same error on this machine but I have taken the liberty of creating a System Restore point in the event it happens. I have two other Windows 7 machines in the house (32 bit Professional and 64 bit Home Premium), and both of them installed Service Pack 1 without any kind of problem, and both of those computers installed them rather quickly.

I booted my computer this morning and I could tell that something wasn't completely right. It took an incredibly long time to get to the user account selection, didn't play the startup sounds, and when I finally log in, the Windows Aero theme had been set to the classic one similar to Windows 2000. I tried to restart the computer and it couldn't do it because it was waiting for the log off sound, which wasn't playing. I clicked force restart and the computer just sat at the desktop. After a hard reboot, I started Windows normally and in the lower right corner I got a message saying that Windows failed to connect to a Windows Service.

his past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

Failure to connect to VPN per the error below from the log... "Set socket to non-blocking mode failed: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.(errno=10038)"Support at VPN vendor suggests that a Windows repair is needed but have no disk as bought the HDD from a repair facility that lost their lease and cannot be located. Should add that I have had a couple of blue screens lately and have run chkdsk /f and tried to do a system restore but all restore points are gone, even though I had several previously.

After turning on my computer today it fails to connect to the internet or windows service. My computer doesn't acknowledge my internet network and now at the bottom right of my desktop says Windows 7 is not genuine when it is. I did a system restore several days back and the problem still persists. I just failed to use Malwarebytes even in Safe Mode + Networking because it is now corrupt, missing files, or mabservices is down. I did a virus scan with indexes last updated feb 28th and found nothing.

But recently when I click on a link in an email, program displays, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." This seems to be a genuine Windows msg, not a virus.

"Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service". This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond. This is the error message I receive when I log on to my computer. It doesn't seem to happen every time I log on but probably 50% of the time. When this error appears the only things I seem to notice differently are that the audio doesn't work and the windows tool bar's graphics are basic (as if i was in safe mode).
