"Failed To Connect To A Windows Service" Error Message
Nov 22, 2012
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have been for years. I have had no problems previously that I was unable to fix.
This morning when starting up my pc I got the error message "Failed to connect to a windows service" In addition it has defaulted to windows classic theme and I can not re enable Aero.
I looked at the Event log but it is simply beyond my level of understanding how to address the errors. Also all errors shown seem to be relativity longstanding/ recurring.
In an attempt to log on to Windows 7, I could not get to the desktop and the error message: "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service." It also, said, "Location is not available: C:Windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop." I ran system restore and was able to get the desk top screen, however, nothing responded and in an attempt to shut down, I had to hit control/alt/del which now has me stuck in Logging off.....
I booted my computer this morning and I could tell that something wasn't completely right. It took an incredibly long time to get to the user account selection, didn't play the startup sounds, and when I finally log in, the Windows Aero theme had been set to the classic one similar to Windows 2000. I tried to restart the computer and it couldn't do it because it was waiting for the log off sound, which wasn't playing. I clicked force restart and the computer just sat at the desktop. After a hard reboot, I started Windows normally and in the lower right corner I got a message saying that Windows failed to connect to a Windows Service.
Turn on computer and it loads pretty normal. A few times it took a long time.In the incon tray notification pops up and says:Faild to connect to a windows serivce. Group Policy CLient service....prevents users from logging on ... as an admin look in event log. This is my home/personal computer and there are NO other users?!?Not sure what the hec this error is.It goes away after a minute and the computer runs fine.I have Avast internet security, malewarebytes running. Did scans with same with negative results. Also ran TDSSKILLER, Superantispyware, and spybot also with negative results (other than cookies)Googled and goggled some more...tried to change/add a registry setting to delay the Group Policy Timeout as seen in this workaround: [URL]but the issue is still here...
"Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond." [URL]
After turning on my computer today it fails to connect to the internet or windows service. My computer doesn't acknowledge my internet network and now at the bottom right of my desktop says Windows 7 is not genuine when it is. I did a system restore several days back and the problem still persists. I just failed to use Malwarebytes even in Safe Mode + Networking because it is now corrupt, missing files, or mabservices is down. I did a virus scan with indexes last updated feb 28th and found nothing.
"Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service". This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond. This is the error message I receive when I log on to my computer. It doesn't seem to happen every time I log on but probably 50% of the time. When this error appears the only things I seem to notice differently are that the audio doesn't work and the windows tool bar's graphics are basic (as if i was in safe mode).
Someone out there please help me. I've been working on this problem for like 6 hrs.Failed to connect, "Group Policy Client Service" windows 7. Failed to Connect with "Group Policy Client Service".I copied the message and saved it as an image. I also ran dds and attach report.
This Error popped up on my Screen today My Nvidia control panel, among other programs do not seem to start with windows any more ( i noticed this right away because my screen configuration had changed)I have checked the service and all of its dependencies and all of them are working fine.
* Boot computer * Windows boot screen displayed ~ 1 minute * screen goes black. Can move mouse. Drive light constantly on, not blinking. ~ 5 minutes * log in screen comes up / log in * Desktop loads ~ 1 minute > sometimes it loads with regular windows aero theme other times it loads with basic windows classic theme. * Error message pop up "failed to connect to System event notification service" * Have to wait for about 5 more minutes before computer is actually usable * Occasionally the audio service does not work as well...
From when I press the power button to when I can actually use my computer takes 10 - 15 minutes.
My computer recently started having issues........ here is what is going on:
Here is what I have tried so far:
* Turning off all start up programs / services * Uninstalled AVG anti virus * PC Tools Registry mechanic registry clean up * Tested Memory - passed * Hard Drive Self Test ---- # 1 - 7 fail / #10008 Fail > I am guessing that this is the source of the problem, however my computer does still work once everything is finally booted. So I don't know what to do with that information or if that test even matters. * I have tried looking at the event viewer but every time it says that the event log service is unavailable > I try turning on Windows Event Log but that does not change anything * I tried "netsh winsock reset" in command prompt, based on a different thread that I found - it didn't work

How can I get into my laptop? I have a Windows failed to start error message. Asking me to inser my windows installation disc which didn't come with laptop
Occasionally when I start up my HP ProBook 4520s I get an error saying "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.". When this happens all task bars go grey and there is no longer a Windows theme. Basically looks like a really old version of windows. Also when I try restart it takes about 15 minutes to reboot. Most of the time a reboot fixes the problem temporarily.
I tried looking in the system log, but there are so many items from the last 15minutes and I cannot figure out which one corresponds to the error.
Below error has been keep popping in Windows 7 Event Viewer whenever I bootup my system, I had even format my system drive and it still happening.I also have observed that now my PC took a little while more to load. The WinRing0_1_2_0 service failed to start due to the following error:The system cannot find the file specified.Attached is the screenshot of the error.
Let me start by saying that I'm a neophite when it comes to issuses of anything other than turning the computer on. It appears to me that when a Microsoft update was installed it obviously changed something. I keep getting an error message that reads:[CODE]
I finally got a new laptop after almost a year of struggling with my old one. I've had experience with using homegroup in the past and was thinking maybe I could access some of my files on my old laptop through that so I don't have to go through the trouble of manually transferring everything via flash drive and what not. I seem to be running into a problem though, my old laptop seems to be in its own homegroup I guess. Whenever I try to leave it, it says "windows cannot remove the computer from the homegroup".
I researched the problem, and used the troubleshooter which said that the homegroup provider service wasn't started and it couldn't be fixed automatically. I tried restarting starting the service but got that error 1608 thing. To bypass this I've tried joining whichever group my old laptop is in, but it can't seem to be found even though the two are both on the same wifi/network. If it matters, the new laptop is windows 8 and the one I'm having trouble with is windows 7.
I ran across away to disable SChannel from logging an error message in event viewerI there a way to get PrintService to do the same? Everytime I print I get an error in event viewerThe document Microsoft Word - 2012-2, owned by XXX, failed to print on printer HP LaserJet 1020. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.the printer prints fine and I am tried of getting these and if I can can just disable this from logging then I want to do it. Below is how to do it for SChannel, does anyone know how to do it for PrintService? I searched the registry for PrintService and nothing showed up.[CODE]
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. While trying to add a network printer (HP LaserJet 4250n) I got the following error message: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e.
The printer works fine from my Windows 7 Pro desktop, and also from other laptops with Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've tried installing Microsoft's hotfix (982728), installing locally on LPT2 and running 'net use LPT2 \Computernamesharedprintername /persistent:yes', updating the driver. None of these worked.
I have two computers I want to connect to a network printer. The printer is a Konica Minolta. When I try to connect it to these computers I get:windows cannot connect to the printer operation failed with error 0x00000002 Both computers are windows 7 and previously were connected to the printer. I had to reinstall the OS on both machines thus the reason Im reconnecting the printer to them. The computers are attached to our domain. Other computers in the office are able to connect to and use this printer.

I have the problem that the service WLAN Auto-Config isn't started. When I try to start the service manual then the error 1068 appear: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." I have tried the three steps of onopko, but this is not working to my computer. On advice of StalkeR I have add the reg files of Black Viper site as Safe as well default. I have a Dell XPS M1730 with Windows 7 Ultimate and it was doing an iTunes update and the lid got closed during the update process. Now when I start the computer up it says "the user profile service service failed the login, user profile cannot be loaded". The computer starts up in safe mode and won't let me do a system restore because it says it is shut off. When I look at User Profiles in Windows 7, it states that the users profile is as backup and the default profile is the local profile. How can I fix my computer to get my user profile back up and working?
I am on my work place computer but my home computer is getting an error 651 WAN message and I can't connect to the internet. Have unplugged everything a few times, modem and all and still get the same message. I believe at the time I started getting this message, I was opening up a Walgreens email and was going to delete it and that's when my issues started.
When you boot you get the login screen, click login, then instantly displayed with this message:"User Profile Service service failed the login.User Profile cannot be located."You cannot log into windows normally or in safe mode, I don't use the PC as its someone else's so I don't have any other information as they don't know either they just turned it off and this is what happened when they turned it on.
I've tried going into regedit and changing the RefCount to 0 and restarting but it keeps going back to 2 - it was at 3 originally but keeps reverting to 2 when I restart.
