Error 1608 - Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start?
Jan 12, 2013
I finally got a new laptop after almost a year of struggling with my old one. I've had experience with using homegroup in the past and was thinking maybe I could access some of my files on my old laptop through that so I don't have to go through the trouble of manually transferring everything via flash drive and what not. I seem to be running into a problem though, my old laptop seems to be in its own homegroup I guess. Whenever I try to leave it, it says "windows cannot remove the computer from the homegroup".
I researched the problem, and used the troubleshooter which said that the homegroup provider service wasn't started and it couldn't be fixed automatically. I tried restarting starting the service but got that error 1608 thing. To bypass this I've tried joining whichever group my old laptop is in, but it can't seem to be found even though the two are both on the same wifi/network. If it matters, the new laptop is windows 8 and the one I'm having trouble with is windows 7.
I have the problem that the service WLAN Auto-Config isn't started. When I try to start the service manual then the error 1068 appear: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." I have tried the three steps of onopko, but this is not working to my computer. On advice of StalkeR I have add the reg files of Black Viper site as Safe as well default. Every time I have restarted my computer after adding the reg files, but both files are resolving me problem.
I'm having a pretty big problem on my laptop- I can't connect to the internet and when I try to connect in the network and sharing centre it simply says 'The dependency service or group failed to start' and I am unable to connect to the internet (Using wi-fi). There's a lot more to it than that though. Simply put, here is a list of the problems I am facing:
1. Can't connect to the Internet 2. Cannot change theme, stuck in basic (Themes are grey and do not respond when I click on them in the control panel) 3. Overall brightness of laptop screen has decreased. 4. When opening my anti-virus software (avast) it says that the software is off and I should click the fix now button to turn it on. However, when I click on it nothing happens.
Please note that this problem occurred when I was messing around with command prompt ( I booted windows 7, pressed F8 and tried to check weather I could launch a USB program through safe mode- command prompt). I figured out I had no idea what the commands were and tried using one of the few commands I knew- ms config. I may have changed settings there and this could be how it happened, I'm not really sure. I'm not very experienced with command prompt but have full knowledge of control panel options, computer, etc.
In the tray at the bottom right of the screen where the wireless signal strength indicator thingy sits I now have a blue circle. Sometimes I get an orange star where there used to be a white histogram. The computer still connects to the Internet but if I right click on the icon the icon will change to a plug and a red cross. If I open Network and Sharing Centre I see the message in the title to this post.As I type I now have "Not connected - Connections are available" in a box above the tray but I AM still connected.
because I cant run anyone applicationOnce time that I try to run any application, the system become in slow performance and few minutes later appear the fallowing dialog box:"Can not start the dependency service or group"This occur with all kind of application that I try to run, installer, program, tool, anyone.
I am getting the folllowing message and tried everything but nothing worked: Windows could not start the Check Point SSL Network Extender service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed ton start
Below error has been keep popping in Windows 7 Event Viewer whenever I bootup my system, I had even format my system drive and it still happening.I also have observed that now my PC took a little while more to load. The WinRing0_1_2_0 service failed to start due to the following error:The system cannot find the file specified.Attached is the screenshot of the error.
I have network sharing issues and I believe the problem is that I cannot turn on file/printer sharing. When I click the button under advance sharing settings for file/printer and hit save (as an admin) it just goes back to off. Under Services, the Server option which is on automatic does not start. When I try to start it, it says:Windows could not start the Server service on Local Computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.
I started to install a home network, but was interrupted. Now Windows 7 will not complete its startup except to say "access is denied." I did not start a recovery point before, hoping to get all the updates, etc. on before needing recovery. Is there any way to fix the problem without reloading everything?
Someone out there please help me. I've been working on this problem for like 6 hrs.Failed to connect, "Group Policy Client Service" windows 7. Failed to Connect with "Group Policy Client Service".I copied the message and saved it as an image. I also ran dds and attach report.
I have been refused acccess to my laptop, message reads, The Group Policy Client Service failed the logon. Access denied. I am entering the correct password but i cannot log on
I have a Dell XPS M1730 with Windows 7 Ultimate and it was doing an iTunes update and the lid got closed during the update process. Now when I start the computer up it says "the user profile service service failed the login, user profile cannot be loaded". The computer starts up in safe mode and won't let me do a system restore because it says it is shut off. When I look at User Profiles in Windows 7, it states that the users profile is as backup and the default profile is the local profile. How can I fix my computer to get my user profile back up and working?
I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and one morning, my audio stopped working. I discovered audio stopped working because the Windows Audio Service, which relied on the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service, which relied on the Power service, all stopped working. So to solve my audio problems, I must first start the Power service. However when I try to start it, it gives the following message:Windows could not start the Power service on Local Computer.Error 127: The specified procedure could not be found.
I had used ubuntu earlier for some time and had observed several errors during installation of even a very simple package. Now when I use windows I observed that not even a single installation go unfinished. Do windows packages not need any dependency..or do they have all their dependency pre-stored in their computer?
When you boot you get the login screen, click login, then instantly displayed with this message:"User Profile Service service failed the login.User Profile cannot be located."You cannot log into windows normally or in safe mode, I don't use the PC as its someone else's so I don't have any other information as they don't know either they just turned it off and this is what happened when they turned it on.
I've tried going into regedit and changing the RefCount to 0 and restarting but it keeps going back to 2 - it was at 3 originally but keeps reverting to 2 when I restart.
I have created a service using the following command in cmd prompt:sc \computername create servicename binpath= C:WindowsSystem32sam.exeThen in the service list, I could see my service. When I right clicked on the service and clicked on Start , I am getting a pop-up with the following error: Windows could not start the newservice4 service on Local Computer.Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I recently got a virus on my PC and managed to get rid of it. I was using TDSS killer and it somehow removed my svchost.exe -k netsvrs file from registry and I am almost positive this is why I cannot start it. Although I do not know how to fix it. I am running windows 7 ultimate x64.
I have a program running that automatically syncs some of my data online. It is running on a computer with Windows 7 Pro as well as a Windows Server 2003 that I use as for file storage. Unfortunately it does not startup until I log into a profile, but since I don't really use these computers, sometimes this doesn't happen for days on end. I decided to create it as a service (used the sc.exe utility - sc create DataBackup binPath= "C:Program FilesData Deposit Boxackup.exe" DisplayName= "Kineticd Backup" start=auto). The service was created successfully, but when I try to start the service, I get the following error.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
How can I get into my laptop? I have a Windows failed to start error message. Asking me to inser my windows installation disc which didn't come with laptop
On July 12th 2012, my computer installed updates. After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.
My Event Viewer is peppered with: Event 7003, Service Control Manager The DHCP Client service depends the following service: Afd. This service might not be installed. Event 7001, Service Control Manager The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service depends on the DHCP CLient service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependcy service does not exist or has been marekd for deletion.
And that keeps repeating many times in a minute (about 30-40 cycles of it).
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have been for years. I have had no problems previously that I was unable to fix.
This morning when starting up my pc I got the error message "Failed to connect to a windows service" In addition it has defaulted to windows classic theme and I can not re enable Aero.
I looked at the Event log but it is simply beyond my level of understanding how to address the errors. Also all errors shown seem to be relativity longstanding/ recurring.
WLAN AutoConfig service gives error 1067 when trying to start it. What I've tried:
Reset winsock settings Ran SFC /scannow Did system restore Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
I tried all of these in normal mode AND in safe mode. None of it worked. Then i thought the service dll (C:Windowssystem32wlansvc.dll) itself might have been damaged/outdated, so I decided to delete it and put a new one from donor pc. NOPE.It wouldn't give me access to the file. No matter what i tried, safe mode, unlocker tools, auto rename it on startup, doing everything in administrator or even messing with permissions under file properties. It just wouldn't give me access to the file.Wi-Fi was working smoothly few days ago and i literally have no idea why it stopped working.

Yesterday I came home from work to a black screen that said "Error Loading OS". Not sure how this happened, so I restarted it and it came right back to that. Spent a few minutes digging around and found out that my hard drive was not set in the BIOS as a boot drive (although no idea how that changed), so I switched it back and the computer booted fine.Today, I come home from work and again, I see the black screen that says "Error Loading OS". I restarted, went in the BIOS, and saw that of 4 hard drives in the system, only 1 (non boot) showed up. This is weird. I shut down for a few minutes, booted it back up to the BIOS, and my primary hard drive was listed again. Selected that, and Windows booted up fine.
Was using the computer for about an hour when everything just froze. The mouse still worked and moved, but nothing else at all was working. So I restarted again, and I got to a "Windows failed to start" / 0xc000000f error. Off to the BIOS again, where again, only 2 or 3 of my 4 hard drives were listed. I shut down, left it for a few minutes, rebooted back, and selected my primary drive again. Then I went ahead and created an image of my primary drive just in case.I have no idea wh thought it might be a hard drive failure, or it could be something messed up in my motherboard. I have a 64GB Crucial M4 SSD drive that is less than a year old, along with an ASRock Z68 PRO3 motherboard that was bought at the same time.
