View 1 RepliesI booted my computer this morning and I could tell that something wasn't completely right. It took an incredibly long time to get to the user account selection, didn't play the startup sounds, and when I finally log in, the Windows Aero theme had been set to the classic one similar to Windows 2000. I tried to restart the computer and it couldn't do it because it was waiting for the log off sound, which wasn't playing. I clicked force restart and the computer just sat at the desktop. After a hard reboot, I started Windows normally and in the lower right corner I got a message saying that Windows failed to connect to a Windows Service.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter I downloaded some windows 7 updates I now get this error:[URL]
- When I turn the computer on windows takes a long time to load, about 5 times longer than usual
- My keyboard now does not work (tried others to be sure)
- I have no internet now (this is related to the error, I have read other cases)
The first thing I wanted to try was the winsock reset, but I do not have a keyboard to type with in the command prompt.I have:
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit
MOBO: AsRock z77 Pro4-M
After turning on my computer today it fails to connect to the internet or windows service. My computer doesn't acknowledge my internet network and now at the bottom right of my desktop says Windows 7 is not genuine when it is. I did a system restore several days back and the problem still persists. I just failed to use Malwarebytes even in Safe Mode + Networking because it is now corrupt, missing files, or mabservices is down. I did a virus scan with indexes last updated feb 28th and found nothing.

View 1 Replies View Related"Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service". This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond. This is the error message I receive when I log on to my computer. It doesn't seem to happen every time I log on but probably 50% of the time. When this error appears the only things I seem to notice differently are that the audio doesn't work and the windows tool bar's graphics are basic (as if i was in safe mode).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have been for years. I have had no problems previously that I was unable to fix.
This morning when starting up my pc I got the error message "Failed to connect to a windows service" In addition it has defaulted to windows classic theme and I can not re enable Aero.
I looked at the Event log but it is simply beyond my level of understanding how to address the errors. Also all errors shown seem to be relativity longstanding/ recurring.
Occasionally when I start up my HP ProBook 4520s I get an error saying "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.". When this happens all task bars go grey and there is no longer a Windows theme. Basically looks like a really old version of windows. Also when I try restart it takes about 15 minutes to reboot. Most of the time a reboot fixes the problem temporarily.
I tried looking in the system log, but there are so many items from the last 15minutes and I cannot figure out which one corresponds to the error.
* Boot computer
* Windows boot screen displayed ~ 1 minute
* screen goes black. Can move mouse. Drive light constantly on, not blinking. ~ 5 minutes
* log in screen comes up / log in
* Desktop loads ~ 1 minute
> sometimes it loads with regular windows aero theme other times it loads with basic windows classic theme.
* Error message pop up "failed to connect to System event notification service"
* Have to wait for about 5 more minutes before computer is actually usable
* Occasionally the audio service does not work as well...
From when I press the power button to when I can actually use my computer takes 10 - 15 minutes.
My computer recently started having issues........ here is what is going on:
* boot computer
* Windows boot screen displayed ~ 1 minute
* screen goes black. Can move mouse. Drive light constantly on, not blinking. ~ 5 minutes
* log in screen comes up / log in
* Desktop loads ~ 1 minute > sometimes it loads with regular windows aero theme other times it loads with basic windows classic theme.
* Error message pop up "failed to connect to System event notification service"
* Have to wait for about 5 more minutes before computer is actually usable
* Occasionally the audio service does not work as well...
From when I press the power button to when I can actually use my computer takes 10 - 15 minutes. Here is what I have tried so far:
* Turning off all start up programs / services
* Uninstalled AVG anti virus
* PC Tools Registry mechanic registry clean up
* Tested Memory - passed
* Hard Drive Self Test ---- # 1 - 7 fail / #10008 Fail > I am guessing that this is the source of the problem, however my computer does still work once everything is finally booted. So I don't know what to do with that information or if that test even matters.
* I have tried looking at the event viewer but every time it says that the event log service is unavailable > I try turning on Windows Event Log but that does not change anything
* I tried "netsh winsock reset" in command prompt, based on a different thread that I found - it didn't work

I have a Dell XPS M1730 with Windows 7 Ultimate and it was doing an iTunes update and the lid got closed during the update process. Now when I start the computer up it says "the user profile service service failed the login, user profile cannot be loaded". The computer starts up in safe mode and won't let me do a system restore because it says it is shut off.When I look at User Profiles in Windows 7, it states that the users profile is as backup and the default profile is the local profile. How can I fix my computer to get my user profile back up and working?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen you boot you get the login screen, click login, then instantly displayed with this message:"User Profile Service service failed the login.User Profile cannot be located."You cannot log into windows normally or in safe mode, I don't use the PC as its someone else's so I don't have any other information as they don't know either they just turned it off and this is what happened when they turned it on.

Any help please?
I cannot install the Windows Service Pack 1 on my Windows 7 notebook. I have attached a picture of what it shows after failing to install the service pack after restarting the computer.
Upon clicking the "Go online..." link, I have followed the steps exactly as shown here: [URL] The service pack still fails to install.
So I only have one account on my computer and its my admin account and when I log on it say user profile service failed to log on. I've read a bunch of stuff online and so far nothing has worked for me. I really need to solve this problem so I can get back to using my computer. I don't have any system backups so I need to be able to solve this without one. When I open my computer in safe mode I get an error that says c:windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop refers to a file that is unavailable. I cant get into cmd mode in regular safe mode but I opened safe mode with cmd and put in a few different things online I found, one was net user administrator /active:yes and the other was something similiar but with no at the end. Both cmd's were accepted but they did nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo recently I had hardware issues, and through warranty I had several replacements done. Mobo, Video cards, ram sticks, and the power supply. After all that was fixed and replaced my computer seemed to have ran fine for a few days, and it still technically is except for this problem.The problem is when I log in into windows normally it takes a while for Windows to boot up. I get a "Please wait" screen, then after a long 4 minute log in once inside windows I get the"Windows could not connect to the system event notification service", and the toolbar is grey all old school windows like.
[url]...
In services the service is called System event notification, it says that the service is running fine. Even when i try to restart it, it makes no difference at all.
In an attempt to log on to Windows 7, I could not get to the desktop and the error message: "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service." It also, said, "Location is not available: C:Windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop." I ran system restore and was able to get the desk top screen, however, nothing responded and in an attempt to shut down, I had to hit control/alt/del which now has me stuck in Logging off.....

The printer works fine from my Windows 7 Pro desktop, and also from other laptops with Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've tried installing Microsoft's hotfix (982728), installing locally on LPT2 and running 'net use LPT2 \Computernamesharedprintername /persistent:yes', updating the driver. None of these worked.
I have two computers I want to connect to a network printer. The printer is a Konica Minolta. When I try to connect it to these computers I get:windows cannot connect to the printer operation failed with error 0x00000002 Both computers are windows 7 and previously were connected to the printer. I had to reinstall the OS on both machines thus the reason Im reconnecting the printer to them. The computers are attached to our domain. Other computers in the office are able to connect to and use this printer.
