Jun 3, 2011I was running Windows 7 on a Dell Vostro 3700 Laptop..After doing a spyware scan and finding and deleting all the entries I found, the next time I turned it on I get the error: oxc000000f "An error occured while attmepting to read the boot configuration data File: BootBCD"
I have looked online for solutions and tried using the Windows 7 disc (a copy) and also tried using 3 recovery disks, these all fail because it just stays completely black with a cursor (left for hours even) or I get a error message something around the lines of "insert correct boot media into the correct boot device" and I have no idea what this means. I cannot do a repair because I can only get the Windows disc to load if I remove the hard drive?? this is the only way I have got it past the green loading bar, so I am stuck and have no idea what to do..it only seems to respond to cds if the hard drive is removed?.. this all happened very suddenly and now I have a very expensive �800 paperweight
To add to this - I also tried the command prompt typing the bootrec.exe code that I found on the internet..selecting command prompt from the option when the Windows 7 disc was loaded, but basically it came up with an error of some sort and it had a drive letter of X:/ on the command prompt ?? ..Also to get to this the hard drive was removed because like I said I cannot get the discs working with it in.. I'm guessing this means the hard drive is screwed but there is clearly a problem with the boot sector and I have no idea on repairing it now.
Computer Keeps Configuration Boot Error?
Feb 15, 2012I have been having trouble with my computer being slow. After doing a repair install it is better, but it did not correct the "freezing up" part of it. Sometimes I can correct it by just clicking all over the screen and other times to ctrl, alt, del and click on different user, but it is a pain. Any one know why it would be freezing up?

Im running windows 7.It requests for the windows recovery CD to be inserted, so when I put the CD in to boot I get a "windows is loading files" then a starting windows with the windows logo then just a black screen with a cursor, I left it like this several times for at least an hour an nothing happened.I can't press F8 to access safe mode etc, nothing will happen.Pressing F12 to boot from CD just does the same thing as putting the CD in normally.

No other drives connected. The BIOS which has been flashed and is up to date finds both the DVD drive and the SSD. I've set boot priority to the DVD drive and I keep getting this MSG below. Mar 7, 2012Monday couldn't boot up PC, had to go to system recovery and restore to previous day.
Log files show below that 4 things failed to load. Tuesday couldn't boot up PC again.. tried to restart like 4-5 times.. Finally comes up and in the logs there's numerous things that failed to load. Running a sfc /scannow right now.

Nov 27, 2012I have 4 Win 7 computer that will not up-date, Windows shows 21 updates available (all 4 computers show same), upon reboot system says "Updates Failed". Each computer upon reboot dsiplays an error message saying the "updates failed". rinse - repeat.This started with one computer about a month ago, I now have 4 that are doing it. I have scanned with Combofix, Superantispyware, Rkill, Symamtec's Endpoint, eSet on-line, Panda on-line, Malwarebytes, JRT, ADWcleaner, CCleaner, FSS, awsMBR, and tried the MS FIXIT.
I also tried this procedure:
1) Disabled Windows update Service
2) Deleted all files in c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore and deleted files in c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download
4) 3) Downloaded and installed the most up to date Windows Update Agent.
5) Restarted Windows Update Agent, made sure Workstation and Background Intelligent Transfer Services were running.
6) Ran the MS Mr. Fixit program to repair update issues.
7) Ran the Windows update. 21 updates to install (as always).
8) Rebooted
9) Guess what, same issue!
I tried this on ALL 4 COMPUTERS I have with this SAME issue, 2 of which are on the same domain, the other two are laptops. ALL 4 FAILED. All four (4) again show the need to receive 21 updates. All 4 were again ran through the update process, all four (4) again failed post re-boot to take the updates (message stated �up-dates failed� post re-boot)
"Failed To Connect To A Windows Service" Error Message
Nov 22, 2012I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have been for years. I have had no problems previously that I was unable to fix.
This morning when starting up my pc I got the error message "Failed to connect to a windows service" In addition it has defaulted to windows classic theme and I can not re enable Aero.
I looked at the Event log but it is simply beyond my level of understanding how to address the errors. Also all errors shown seem to be relativity longstanding/ recurring.
Old XP Failed Boot Causing Error On Boot
Jun 8, 2012I upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate from Win XP Pro after my OEM disk picked up a few more scratches than it needed.During a re-installation it partially installed the windows XP setup with an error message of 'HAL.DLL' missing.I believe the residual setup loader is causing problemS.My PC insists on trying to boot from CD/DVD regardless of what I select.If I select boot from CD/DVD with my new Windows 7 disk I get the SAME message as if I didn't select boot from DC/DVD: Windows failed to start. This could be from a recent hardware or software change.
1.Please insert your windows install disk and click restart
2.Change language setting and click next.
3.Click repair... etc.

I have tried restarting and loading windows from the installation disc. Error 1234F: Would Not Boot Or Load BIOS
Dec 30, 2011This morning I powered up my PC and got this error, 1234F:
Tried pressing 1 and nothing happened. Restarted and tried to get into the BIOS by pressing DEL, but the BIOS wouldn't load. Opened up the computer and unplugged all my hard drives and unneeded USB devices. Got into the BIOS fine after that. Powered down and reconnected the boot drive and everything booted up fine. Ran a quick test on the hard rive using the Seagate Seatools utility and it passed. Reconnected the other drives and again, everything checked out fine. I hope to run longer tests on my drives later this morning just to make sure.
I did have a Ubuntu live usb stick plugged in, but I have this plugged in often and have never had a problem. Tried recreating the problem by reconnecting everything and restarting but everything booted up fine.
The only things I have done to the PC is swap out two internal hard drives two days ago. I also have been having problems with my USB ports which I haven't figured out yet, this will probably be the subject of another thread!
So everything seems to be running fine now but I am a little worried about what might have caused my problem and if it is an indication of another problem? Is there anything I need to check?

Updating drivers, specifically the realtek ones.Also when I used my HDMI cable to connect to my TV as a second monitor it works for about 45mins then bluescreens.These all worked properly prior to reinstall.
