View 1 Replies View RelatedWent into the Windows 7 control panel to make a 'system repair disk' (boot disk), just in case I ever needed it. Making the disk went OK, with Windows 7 telling me it had successfully finished, and to label the CD.
I then put the boot CD into my DVD drive to make sure it worked OK. Computer boots from the CD and Windows 7 says it has started loading files. Then the pretty blue background screen started (just like the one in the F8 repair console), and then there was a long pause and then I get the error code shown on the photo below. Clicking OK reboots the computer, and no repair options ever load.
I made two separate boot disks to rule out a bad CD, but still get the same error #
This is a brand new Dell computer, both DVD drives work fine, and burn CDs without problems.
I have 2 computers on a home network (both were running Win XP Pro). Obtained Win 7 Upgrade disk fom Microsoft and installed Win 7 on Machine 1. OK! Now trying to install Win 7 on Machine 2.
Placed disk into DVD-CD drive and drive seems to run. Start/my computer/cd drive shows disk is in drive. Right click/explore. Disk contents appear.
Disk runs but machine hangs up. Nothing happens. Placed disk in cd drive of machine 1 and it performs as it should.
I have updated the driver for disk drive. Other disks which I have tried in the cd drive seem to operate correctly.
Motherboard is a MSI MS-7309 1.0
Processor - AMD 2.60 HZ Athlon 64
Memory 4GB
CD Rom- Compaq DVD-Rom SD-M1612
I really want to install Windows 7 on this machine so both machines appear the same.
I tried to re-install my windows 7 today, and at first it seemed to be going well, but then it reset me back to the windows DVD install screen and when I try to install windows it gives me this message: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. "This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu." I think I need to change some BIOs settings on my motherboard or something but I am really just not sure, it's my first time build and this really is beyond me. If anyone has any experience on what to do or any advice I would be really grateful for it. The HD I am using is a Westinghouse 1T and the motherboard is a ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+.

It ripped to windows media player, but when I tried to burn it to a cd-rw disk I got the message "Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive." Is there a different type of disk I should be using?

But for my laptop to access files on my desktop I have to have a password on my desktop and have it set to "password protected sharing." I guess this is not a big issue but I don't really want a password on my desktop because it doesn't go anywhere and it's another startup step...
I've tried taking the password off the laptop but that didn't help either.
yesterday i was watching a show on my computer (sony vaio) and it kept freezing and lagging and wouldn't restart so i manually restarted it. when i tried to turn it on it would say "starting up windows" but it would take to long and it would restart again with error repair. when i would load error repair it would say it's loading files but only a background screen would show and no files.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using a program called NoLimits and Google Chrome on my Windows 7 computer. After about 30 minutes or so, all the programs was not responding.
After about 5 minutes or so, the screen shook and lines were on it. After that, I got the Blue Screen Of Death.
I restarted the computer. After the dell logo and below your computer type (Inspiron, Inspiron One etc), (before you see the Windows Error Recovery screen) I got an error message that said "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reRECOVERY."
When I press Ctrl, Alt and Delete, The computer restarts and I get the same error message. Then, I have to shut down the computer and leave it off for at least an hour.
After an hour, I turned on the computer and I did not get the error message. After I logged in, I scanned for viruses, spyware and malware with the latest versions of all my antivirus programs and no was found. I tried everything I could do and none of them worked. I am posting this thread on my iMac computer with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7.
When moving or renaming files I frequently get an error messages informing me that "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program". This typically happens with the second or third folder I try to rename or move. Navigating away to another folder and then coming back or closing explorer and reopening it usually helps but on the second rename or move I'm back to square one. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer is unable access my router. The power went out for a second and clearly that did something. I have an HP p7-1174 desk top, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The processor is an AMD A8-3800.
There are now several devices in the manager with yellow exclamation points, all relegated to the LAN. I get a Code 31, unable to load drivers message. I ran the sfc scan and there were no integrity violations. I tried updating drivers without any luck. My router is working fine because my laptop and iPad both work online.
The problem seems to be that Windows can't load the drivers for my 802.11n wireless LAN card. I tried updating drivers but it said the driver was up to date. I tried changing manually but the only two listed were the same and when I clicked one, it said Windows was unable to load.
I have been having this problem where after I login windows just sits there. programs dont load at all.. i can click them too and nothing happens.. sometimes only my antivirus shows up in the upbox on the right side but other than that nothing..
After about 7 boot attempts it starts to work which is surprising!
This problem started 2 days ago.. so I thought it was my OS problem and einstalled windows but the problem keeps coming back! I feel like the Windows update restarts are causing it or something! I have scanned my computer with malwarebytes and Avast with no results..

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I click on All Programs and then on C drive, it'll open up with a blank page and then a green bar starts moving slowly across the top. When it gets to the end, it just sits there.Pictures, Games and Music do the same thing. Games is blank and no green bar. The CPU, according to the meter, is running at about 1 or 2 %. Checking with Task Manager, nothing else is running.The only way to get it to work, is to Log Off and then Log back on. It'll be OK for a while and then does it again.

I keep all my main operating system files on the ssd for faster boot up and accessing files faster. I keep all my game programs and files on the HDD b/c of the space. some games will load straight from the HDD but others will try to install themselves again on the SSD. Is there some way to go into regedit or somewhere else that can change it to where it just loads straight from the HDD without any problems?

All other programs do not open when I click them - either the shortcut or the icon in the folder.This includes all Microsoft Office programs, AntiVirus programs, Firefox, etc. When I click the program, the timing circle comes up next to the cursor for a couple seconds, then disappears. I've tried looking at task manager when I click the program. For many programs (not all), the task process shows up in "Processes" tab for a second, then disappears. The program never shows up under tasks in the "Applications" tab of Task Manager.For some programs (mostly MS Office) I get a prompt "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Windows/Programs I can open: Windows Explorer (for My Compter, My Documents, etc.), 64-bit IE, Wordpad.
Methods I've already tried:
1. Restart, both cold Windows restart, and restart in Safe Mode with Networking.
1. Removing all startup items using msconfig window. Even when all were removed, I can't open any programs.
3. Using Cntl-Alt-Delete to correct windows file associations. typed in "assoc .exe=exefile.

This problem started after I tried to remove an Antivirus2010 bug. I followed the instructions found here and then tried Adaware to remove any additional spyware. My thought is I screwed something up when replacing the HOSTS file, or I removed something I shouldn't have using the AdAware anti-spyware program.
I was on the internet using my laptop when it just quit and shut down. Now I have this problem with progams not loading. I cannot load most of my programs from either icons or start menu, I am only able to get on the internet with IE 64 bit loaded from the start menu.I haven't downloaded or made any changes. I seldom use this computer for anything but email and internet access.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and as of this morning whenever I startup my pc I have about a 10-30 second window maybe (sometimes even shorter) that I can actually get programs to open before my pc just seems to get very slow and nothing at all will open. For example things like ctrl+alt+del takes about 15 seconds before it just goes to a black screen and says the process cannot be completed, whenever I pull up the start menu it will freeze and nothing opens from there, and even trying to refresh the desktop or shutting down/restarting crashes it. I have gone into safe mode with networking to get on Chrome and try to find solutions but nothing has worked. I've ran a full system scan with Malwarebytes and the first time it found only one infection and I quarantined and removed it, but the problem still occurs.

So anyway. Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that .
