Error 0xc00000e9 Performing Inpage Operation?
Aug 30, 2012
his past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

I get this error using both a HOme premium DVD and using the HDD on this system ... best I can tell it is not giving me options about what sort of boot to attempt. Not sure the hardware is healthy but there are no removable devices present [that is no sd card, no usb thingies plugged halfway in, just the dvd drive which is either empty or with the Windows 7 disc, depending on attempt]

It's running Windows 7 Pro x64. When I attempt to start it up, it starts up the Windows Error Recovery program, suggesting that I launch Startup Repair, and allowing me to start Windows normally. In both scenarios, I get the same error. When I start normally, I get the Starting Windows text, then I get a solid white bar with Windows is loading files... above it. It fills up halfway, then I get Windows Boot Manager error 0xc00000e9: An unexpected I/o Error has occurred. This computer is a stock Dell Inspiron 530s, with no new hardware devices added or removed in recent memory (other than starting from a USB stick once or twice, but not since I installed Windows 7 Pro x64 on here). How should I proceed?hould I plug in a USB stick I have Xubuntu 9.04 on and backup all his files before I do anything?

Okay, so this all started when my hard drive failed. I had tested my (old) hard drive on other computers so I know it really failed. I bought a 120 GB SSD and a 750 GB Seagate external hard drive for my computer. ( my computer is a Asus Republic of Gamers G73SW, 8 GB of ram i7 intel quad core @ 2.0 GHz) if you would like to know. , Ever since I replaced the hard drive, my computer freezes mostly while I am gaming and gives the Kernal Inpage Error. Even when I knew my old hard drive was going out soon, it never gave me that error, it would just crash, (that is the old hard dive). I went to the place I bought the new SSD and external hard drive and they told me it was probably an issue with my motherboard or operating system (windows 7 Ultimate, which I paid for) I did though have a new power jack put on my mother board about 8 months ago.. Never had any type of problem. And just FYI I do work at a computer company, kinda like Geek Squad, I am fairly new and only work with software, not hardware like this stuff. I know for sure I have no viruses or anything like that. ( checked a lot ) ran disk check's and all of that. Just don't know if my mother board is really the problem or maybe the new SSD ( which Best Buy when I asked about it told me it was my mother board, and not the new SSD I bought from them ) The weird thing is when it does crash, my BIOS will not recognize that the SSD is even there( after a crash ) my computer will not boot and I check the BIOS and my SSD will not show up, For hours sometimes... So I dont know I have asked everyone from my work and other computer shops and they all say they don't know or give different answers, only had this computer a little over a year (I love it!) but now just thinking to build my own....

my system has been running absolutely fine for the past year without issues until about 3 weeks ago. For the first time, I got a stop error about kernel data inpage error. it however could not save the dump for some reason.
my system is configured as SSD is the main boot drive for Windows and everything else (program files etc...) is redirected to the E: drive which is my RAID0. I then had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. And now I have just seen it happen properly:
Kernel data inpage error
0x0000007A
NTFS.sys
is what are the key information I can see. what does this mean? how can I identify what is exactly the problem? this is such a critical system, i cannot emphasis enough

I have a samsung laptop RV411. So I closed the cover and then opened it for transfer. However, I did not shut it down. So when I opened it, it turned black and it turned BSOD. It says KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. So I restarted my PC. Now, I cant get out of the POST. There is 2 available options F2 for setup and F4 for recovery. I pressed both and it went Please Wait... Forever! I used the recovery disk no luck.

I had some BSOD's, they always occured shortly after the login screen appeared. I hoped they would go away, like they did in the past, but my PC kept crashing. I didn't try to solve them, I just booted in another OS, now I booted my windows 7 again and the problem seems solved, but I am curious what was the cause of these BSOD's and I want to know how I can prevent them in the future. I attached a zip file as outlined

When I renstalled windows around 1-2 months ago I suddenly got a Kernel Data inpage error. In the attachments are all the files you will need (minidump and system health report). I had to renstall windows because there was an unremovable virus, before the restallation this problem didn't occur so that gives me a high suspicion of it being a driver problem but I can't find any drivers that need updating.

I tried to install window 7 to new Extreme SSD couple times but I always got the same message:"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. i have a dell inspiron Laptop and I'm running (or trying to run) windows 7 home 64 bit
1.)One morning windows would not start all or a sudden (i'm guessing due to an automatic windows update), it would only let me go into the recovery mode.
2.)I tried several of the recovery options to no avail until i finally got one to work.
3.)After that windows was working but was EXTREMELY slow despite my best efforts
4.)I decided to do a complete factory restore using my restore disks (the ones you make when you first get the computer)
5.) this worked perfectly and windows seemed to be running great until I restarted, and on the restart it took me to a black and white screen that gives me the 3 instructions (none of which help). the status on that screen says 0xc000000e9
6.) the only thing i can do is boot to the recovery disk and reformat again, and the same thing then happens: windows works great until i turn off or restart, then I'm back at the black and white screen.

A week or two ago I encountered the Kernal Data Inpage Error blue screen event. I had the university brains look over it then remote Dell technical support. After the technician was done it seemed to be much better. Even a bit quicker! (This computer is nearing 1 year old. Alienware M14x laptop, Windows 7)But the blue screen came again a couple times today while I was modding Skyrim. I did chkdisk, ccleaner (both cleaned and registry checked), disk defragmenter, disk cleaner, malware scan, and everything seems to have done what it was supposed to. No blue screens yet (i could try to provoke one with that same file?) but Skyrim is so much slower. Last night I was on high graphical settings with 40+ fps, now its lagging below 30fps. I did all of the above and a restart here n there.

I am trying to install Win 7 Ultimate x64 on my roommates laptop. It was having severe issues booting into 7 already so I decided to just wipe it and re-install. I started with a DVD copy and upon boot he realized that his DVD drive was broke. FML. But we can boot from USB so I go buy a large flashdrive and DL a copy of Windows 7 and make it boot-able. So I plug it in and when it starts to load windows files it makes it about 10% and stops.
Then throws an error 0xc00000e9. "An unexpected I/O error has occurred".
Now I know my USB is good, I just bought it. The DVD Drive is messed up but its not being used in any way. It's an older Sony vaio, Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, the model is burnt off the bottom.

Yeah so I've been able to fix my dual system on both hard drives problem, but seems like my original problem still persists. Whenever I run fraps, audacity, and warcraft III (warcraft III running by itself doesn't seem to bother anything). I blue screen after 1-2 minutes of recording (sometimes it doesn't, but when it does it does for 3-4 times every time i try).
The error message I get from BSOD is kernel data inpage error, but sometimes the BSOD would just say "a process or thread crucial to the system has unexpectedly exited or been terminated". The error code is always 0x000000004.

Just wanted to reinstall my Windows 7 this morning due to the fact that my dvd writer did not read of write CDs. After some research I learnt that a re-install will do the trick. how I don't know.My system statrt up, loads the windows 7 files and then comes up with the Windows Boot Manager screen stating that it has problems communicating with a device connected to your computer. Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.I have tried my 2 SSD drives in Raid 0 and also a single HDD with the same results. My DVD writer is an IDE model, but I can't think that this is the problem since the first time I used this drive and the same original Windows 7 Ultimate Disc there were no problems.I even went as far and got a PS2 keyboard to avoid any USB devices and also downloaded a full untouched version of Windows 7 with the same error! (Maybe my disc got scrtaches after its first use, I don't know)

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 and it is failing to start up. A few days ago i was on my laptop and i turned it off, the next day when i turned it on it came up with an option to chose " launch start up repair" or "start windows normally" but when i chose either the same error message appears after 2-3 minuets of waiting. The error message says:"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the devise is in use, or faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD- ROM drive that is failing. I have had an HP Envy 14-1110nr for just under a year now and suddenly it has been giving me problems the last few weeks. It started with a couple of hangs or random crashes over the first week. After 2 or 3 of those, the computer simply wouldn't start up. Every time I would turn the laptop on, it would get to a certain part, give me the following error and then restart, over and over.
"File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occurred
Nothing seemed to be working, and then finally last night I started getting errors from just about everything saying that my HDD was rapidly failing.SMART HDD Error 301 Intel Rapid Storage Technology gives me a warning saying something is wrong with the HDD.Microsoft also gave me an error saying that the HDD is at risk and to back up my files immediately. After doing one final test I was able to get the boot problem solved, at least it seems to be fixed for now but the errors are persisting. Could all of the errors that I'm getting because of that boot or is the drive really broken? Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing wrong with the drive at all, no bad sectors, nothing. Could it have something to do with the boot error that I was getting before or is it likely really damaged? The HDD in question is a Samsung HM640JJ 640GB.

This started happening last night while i was playing Borderlands 2, it has happened at idle, playing just about any game in my library, during downloads and just browsing the web. I changed all of my accessible drivers, and it continued to happen, so i moved all of my personal files onto my external HDD. I re installed windows on my SSD (did not reformat) and reformatted my HDD. I re installed my drivers, re-enabled SLI and it ran fine for about an hour, just downloading WoW, and then happened again twice.

I run plain-vanilla Windows-7 on a new Dell desktop, at home. I use Outlook for mail and it worked normally for a month. But recently when I click on a link in an email, program displays, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." This seems to be a genuine Windows msg, not a virus.

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. While trying to add a network printer (HP LaserJet 4250n) I got the following error message: Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e.
The printer works fine from my Windows 7 Pro desktop, and also from other laptops with Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've tried installing Microsoft's hotfix (982728), installing locally on LPT2 and running 'net use LPT2 \Computernamesharedprintername /persistent:yes', updating the driver. None of these worked.

I installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. After it rebooted, on the Windows 7 loading screen it shows "Applying update operation XXXX of XXXX". After a certain number it says "Error applying operation XXXX of XXXX", and then the system proceeds to hang on that screen, meaning that I am unable to access Windows. I try mashing F8 for my life when resetting the computer, but I never get a list of boot options, so I cannot get into Safe Mode or even try the computer's Last Known Good Configuration. The edition of this version of Windows 7 is 64 bit Ultimate. The laptop I am using is also 64 bit Ultimate.
Another thing I want to point out is that both of these computers have been taking an incredibly long time (near 12 hours at this point) trying to download and install Service Pack 1. There is no spyware or anything running in the background. I am fearing that I might get the same error on this machine but I have taken the liberty of creating a System Restore point in the event it happens. I have two other Windows 7 machines in the house (32 bit Professional and 64 bit Home Premium), and both of them installed Service Pack 1 without any kind of problem, and both of those computers installed them rather quickly.
