I tried to install window 7 to new Extreme SSD couple times but I always got the same message:"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. Windows 7 Boot Mgr Error 0xc00000e9: Unexpected I/O Error?

Feb 19, 2010

It's running Windows 7 Pro x64. When I attempt to start it up, it starts up the Windows Error Recovery program, suggesting that I launch Startup Repair, and allowing me to start Windows normally. In both scenarios, I get the same error. When I start normally, I get the Starting Windows text, then I get a solid white bar with Windows is loading files... above it. It fills up halfway, then I get Windows Boot Manager error 0xc00000e9: An unexpected I/o Error has occurred. This computer is a stock Dell Inspiron 530s, with no new hardware devices added or removed in recent memory (other than starting from a USB stick once or twice, but not since I installed Windows 7 Pro x64 on here). How should I proceed?hould I plug in a USB stick I have Xubuntu 9.04 on and backup all his files before I do anything?

Windows 7 Boot Manager Error 0xc00000e9

Oct 2, 2012

I am trying to install Win 7 Ultimate x64 on my roommates laptop. It was having severe issues booting into 7 already so I decided to just wipe it and re-install. I started with a DVD copy and upon boot he realized that his DVD drive was broke. FML. But we can boot from USB so I go buy a large flashdrive and DL a copy of Windows 7 and make it boot-able. So I plug it in and when it starts to load windows files it makes it about 10% and stops.

Then throws an error 0xc00000e9. "An unexpected I/O error has occurred".

Now I know my USB is good, I just bought it. The DVD Drive is messed up but its not being used in any way. It's an older Sony vaio, Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, the model is burnt off the bottom.

Windows Boot Manager Install Error 0xc00000e9

Nov 5, 2010

Just wanted to reinstall my Windows 7 this morning due to the fact that my dvd writer did not read of write CDs. After some research I learnt that a re-install will do the trick. how I don't know.My system statrt up, loads the windows 7 files and then comes up with the Windows Boot Manager screen stating that it has problems communicating with a device connected to your computer. Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.I have tried my 2 SSD drives in Raid 0 and also a single HDD with the same results. My DVD writer is an IDE model, but I can't think that this is the problem since the first time I used this drive and the same original Windows 7 Ultimate Disc there were no problems.I even went as far and got a PS2 keyboard to avoid any USB devices and also downloaded a full untouched version of Windows 7 with the same error! (Maybe my disc got scrtaches after its first use, I don't know)

How To Solve Windows Encountered Communication Error Urgently

Oct 5, 2011

I attempted to start up yesterday and got "Unexpected I/O error has occurred. Status 0xc00000e9" and some message about "Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer" even though I had no USB devices connected at the time. Startup repair spins indefinitely.

I installed another hard drive in hopes that I could run some diagnostics. I can get to a driver-less version of Windows on the extra hard drive and I can see the data on my inaccessible drive - so I know it's there. I just can't boot it.

I have a TB of video data to process by Friday

Windows 7 Installation - Disk Part Encountered I / O Device Error

Jan 27, 2013

So yesterday, I inserted an old disk I found that apparently had some of my old memories on, I put that in my disk drive, my PC lagged out, I could still move my mouse etc., then Blue Screen of Death, so then my PC restarted, fair enough; it then gave me this weird error, something like no OS or something. I did all the checks, unplugging any USB's etc, checking BIOS for AHCI is on and not IDE, still no workies. So then I grabbed a Win7 Installation Disc, when I went to custom install, this came up on the side.

"*Yellow Exclamation Mark Triangle* Windows cannot be installed to this disk. (Show details)."

I press show details, then this dialogue box came up.

"*Yellow Exclamation Mark Triangle* Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

So I went to my BIOS, did the same checks again, ran the installer again and then same thing happened. When I say checks I went to change it to IDE, same error again. So fair enough, I reset my BIOS to default, same error again. I searched online, and I burnt a program called DBAM, which nukes your harddrive, I ran that and it seemed to have cleared my drive, I think! I tried it again, same error. I then downloaded and burnt PartitionMagic or something like that, I couldn't run anything with it as it said "BadDisk" or something like that.

As a last resort, I tried to install Ubuntu, same issues illustrated above. After, I used DiskPart in the CMD, I couldn't make a partition as it gave me a I/O Error "diskpart has encountered an error the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error". I tried to use the Win7 install again, still no damn luck, therefore I tried to use the new partition maker thing in the installation disk, another error came up.

Error 0xc00000e9 ; Computer Won't Start

Jan 4, 2013

i have a dell inspiron Laptop and I'm running (or trying to run) windows 7 home 64 bit

1.)One morning windows would not start all or a sudden (i'm guessing due to an automatic windows update), it would only let me go into the recovery mode.

2.)I tried several of the recovery options to no avail until i finally got one to work.

3.)After that windows was working but was EXTREMELY slow despite my best efforts

4.)I decided to do a complete factory restore using my restore disks (the ones you make when you first get the computer)

5.) this worked perfectly and windows seemed to be running great until I restarted, and on the restart it took me to a black and white screen that gives me the 3 instructions (none of which help). the status on that screen says 0xc000000e9

6.) the only thing i can do is boot to the recovery disk and reformat again, and the same thing then happens: windows works great until i turn off or restart, then I'm back at the black and white screen.

Error 0xc00000e9 Performing Inpage Operation?

Aug 30, 2012

his past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

Windows 7 - Volume Shadow Copy Service Component Encountered Unexpected Error

Apr 17, 2012

I have a Windows 7 Home premium x64 OS and it has been giving me more and more problems. I've ran virus scan on AVG and Windows security and came up with nothing. I've tried msconfig and disabling all non-windows services from starting and still nothing has worked! Windows Live ID Sign in use to start after I had to manually start it (even though it was set for automatic), and now it won't even start at all, giving me the error it didn't respond in a timely fashion. My windows task manager doesn't respond, and my system restore gives me an error saying "A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error".

The problem seemed to start when my web browser would start to not load pages. Then my printer wouldn't work because the "printer spool" service wouldn't start, then of course the hardware and devices in the control panel wouldn't load. After resolving that by manually starting the bluetooth service, the Task Manager stopped working, and the "printer spool" service failed and would not stay started. My start up speed has seemed to have hit a brick wall as well, I've ran start-up repair to no avail. This is my build as copied from newegg.com:

ASUS P6X58-E PRO LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1461-KR GeForce GTX 560
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31
Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb

This computer was quick as can be when I built it, and had had no problem with it whatsoever until now. I can't think of any program that may be messing with it, I've gone through my installed programs and startup programs and nothing to me is out of the ordinary.

File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 Unexpected I/O Error Has Occurred

Dec 23, 2011

I have had an HP Envy 14-1110nr for just under a year now and suddenly it has been giving me problems the last few weeks. It started with a couple of hangs or random crashes over the first week. After 2 or 3 of those, the computer simply wouldn't start up. Every time I would turn the laptop on, it would get to a certain part, give me the following error and then restart, over and over.

"File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occurred

Nothing seemed to be working, and then finally last night I started getting errors from just about everything saying that my HDD was rapidly failing.SMART HDD Error 301 Intel Rapid Storage Technology gives me a warning saying something is wrong with the HDD.Microsoft also gave me an error saying that the HDD is at risk and to back up my files immediately. After doing one final test I was able to get the boot problem solved, at least it seems to be fixed for now but the errors are persisting. Could all of the errors that I'm getting because of that boot or is the drive really broken? Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing wrong with the drive at all, no bad sectors, nothing. Could it have something to do with the boot error that I was getting before or is it likely really damaged? The HDD in question is a Samsung HM640JJ 640GB.

Internet Explorer Has Encountered A Validation Error

May 8, 2009

I have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore".

If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets.

I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail.

Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least).

Infrared Webcam Encountered Error When Installed Driver

Jul 11, 2011

I recently bought an infrared webcam [generic] from China. Cheap and easy. Turns out that it "encountered an error" when I installed the driver. Before I bought it, I didn't know that it was for 32-bit Windows (they failed to inform me). Is there a way to emulate a 32-bit application on a 64-bit system??? Or a way I can fool the driver to make it work? Or even tamper with it to do so? And, if that won't work; does that mean that the device only works on 32-bit system and would never operate on a 64-bit one? I tried the webcam and driver on a 32-bit laptop and it worked fine. So they device isn't faulty.

Computer Restarted Unexpectedly Or Encountered And Unexpected Error

Oct 25, 2009

Last night after all the troubles with getting W7 Pro 64bit installed, I finally managed to do it using a USB.

This morning I start installing all my programs and I noticed that my "Windows Experience" number was 1.0. I assumed this was down to it not recognising my graphics card (Geforce 9600M GS).

I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia and installed them. Upon restarting, I received an unexpected error message giving me the option to repair the problem or run windows normally. The latter just caused the machine to restart everytime it was chosen, and the former took the system restore window.

Upon doing this it managed to get me back to the desktop and everything seemed fine. I tried installing the drivers again and it led to the same problem.

By this point I decided to try and reinstall windows from my USB stick. I performed the first section of this, it started on its own as its supposed to, and began trying to complete the installation. At the point where it said "Setup is starting services", a warning appeared saying:

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error. Installation cannto proceed. To install Windows click OK to restart the computer and the installation."

Sure enough, clicking OK leads me to exactly the same message.

After getting sick of this I tried installing W7 for a third time and exactly the same thing happened. Now I am stuck with the choice of 3 Windows 7's on boot, all three leading to the same error.

I am completely lost, can anyone help?

"The Computer Restarted Unexpectedly Or Encountered An Unexpected Error"

My neighbor has just brought around his desktop saying he tried to load Win 7 over a Vista installation, now he says he cannot install Win 7 and Vista appears to have gone. When I fire it up, I get a screen saying "starting Windows", this then goes to a window saying "Setup Starting Services" which then comes up with the message: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer and then restart the installation"What has happened is: he has tried to install an upgrade version of win 7 that is meant to upgrade from the starter edition of Win 7 which he did not have installed and in doing so Vista has been wiped, but before I tell him this I am looking for a confirmation of my diagnosis, does this theory sound plausible? bye the way he does not have a Vista installation disk either!

Diagnosing Computer: 0xc00000e9 Windows 7-64bit

Mar 12, 2012

I've been having issues with my computer, initially it was loading to the windows screen and would say "starting windows"(where the icon would normally swarm in and present itself). It would stop here with just the words at the bottom. One night it stayed on all night, which I eventually woke up and checked what was going on and it was stuck at a black screen. I tried restarting multiple times and it would go to a completely black screen(no mouse). Eventually I went into BIOS and selected "use fail safe defaults".This seemed to have fixed my problem... until I went to open a program and it took react very slowly with the program constantly "not responding". I decided to restart my computer. Now it will come up with either the black screen, or if I get it to to "launch" it says it is missing hardware item and lists 0xc00000e9 as the error code. Has my hard drive or memory died? I need help before I replace the wrong items entirely... I've tried reloading windows 7 multiple times now and it continues to give the same error.

I tried a few things, mostly the startup repair option that it would (recommend) to me next to the start windows normally option. this did absolutely nothing, and the problem continued. So I said ok, I give up, and decided to back up everything and completely reformat and reinstall windows. I did this, it installed successfully. I couldn't believe it...even after completely reformatting, I could not get past start up. The system repair option still does nothing, even with the disc in and I tried reinstalling it a bunch of times, but now it wont even do that correct all the way through, keeps coming up with errors talking about files either missing or corrupt. I wiped partitions and tried again alot of times, but nothing. Now it doesnt even recognize windows 7 as being installed at all. [URL]
