Diagnosing Computer: 0xc00000e9 Windows 7-64bit

Mar 12, 2012

I've been having issues with my computer, initially it was loading to the windows screen and would say "starting windows"(where the icon would normally swarm in and present itself). It would stop here with just the words at the bottom. One night it stayed on all night, which I eventually woke up and checked what was going on and it was stuck at a black screen. I tried restarting multiple times and it would go to a completely black screen(no mouse). Eventually I went into BIOS and selected "use fail safe defaults".This seemed to have fixed my problem... until I went to open a program and it took react very slowly with the program constantly "not responding". I decided to restart my computer. Now it will come up with either the black screen, or if I get it to to "launch" it says it is missing hardware item and lists 0xc00000e9 as the error code. Has my hard drive or memory died? I need help before I replace the wrong items entirely... I've tried reloading windows 7 multiple times now and it continues to give the same error.

Diagnosing Why Computer Freezes

Jan 27, 2013

My computer freezes all the time and I can't figure out what's wrong.I'm this problem for at least 6 months. I've tried running memtest, formatting and reinstalling windows twice, I installed win 7 x64 instead of x32, I replaced the graphic card and PSU, and non of them solved the problem. In most of the time it happens when I watch movies on my MPC-HC while the iTunes or Chrome are open in the background. Uninstalling iTunes and Chrome didn't solve it, just reduced the frequency of the freezes. When I displug every cable on the computer's connection leaving only mouse, keyboard and monitor connected, disabling Norton Internet Security and closing every unnecessary program it doesn't freeze, even when I play movies on playlist all night. Error 0xc00000e9 ; Computer Won't Start

Jan 4, 2013

i have a dell inspiron Laptop and I'm running (or trying to run) windows 7 home 64 bit

1.)One morning windows would not start all or a sudden (i'm guessing due to an automatic windows update), it would only let me go into the recovery mode.

2.)I tried several of the recovery options to no avail until i finally got one to work.

3.)After that windows was working but was EXTREMELY slow despite my best efforts

4.)I decided to do a complete factory restore using my restore disks (the ones you make when you first get the computer)

5.) this worked perfectly and windows seemed to be running great until I restarted, and on the restart it took me to a black and white screen that gives me the 3 instructions (none of which help). the status on that screen says 0xc000000e9

6.) the only thing i can do is boot to the recovery disk and reformat again, and the same thing then happens: windows works great until i turn off or restart, then I'm back at the black and white screen.

64bit Computer Cant Be Repaired By 64bit Windows

Mar 13, 2012

My computer got the BootMGR is missing problem, which I have had in the past which is not that big. I insert the Windows 7 64 Ultimate disk it starts up everything fine, press repair my computer and it finds the installation. But when I press on it and next it has an error pop up saying "This version of system recovery options is not conpattble with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that i compatible with this version of Windows." If I dont select anything but press next it allows me to look at the screen Im supposed to, but if I go to command prompt or click autmatically repair nothing will be saved or changed. This is the same disc I installed Windows with and repaired it several times. But I did have to reset BIOS earlier so this may have affected something.

Windows 7 Boot Manager Error 0xc00000e9

Oct 2, 2012

I am trying to install Win 7 Ultimate x64 on my roommates laptop. It was having severe issues booting into 7 already so I decided to just wipe it and re-install. I started with a DVD copy and upon boot he realized that his DVD drive was broke. FML. But we can boot from USB so I go buy a large flashdrive and DL a copy of Windows 7 and make it boot-able. So I plug it in and when it starts to load windows files it makes it about 10% and stops.

Then throws an error 0xc00000e9. "An unexpected I/O error has occurred".

Now I know my USB is good, I just bought it. The DVD Drive is messed up but its not being used in any way. It's an older Sony vaio, Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, the model is burnt off the bottom.

Windows Boot Manager Install Error 0xc00000e9

Nov 5, 2010

Just wanted to reinstall my Windows 7 this morning due to the fact that my dvd writer did not read of write CDs. After some research I learnt that a re-install will do the trick. how I don't know.My system statrt up, loads the windows 7 files and then comes up with the Windows Boot Manager screen stating that it has problems communicating with a device connected to your computer. Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.I have tried my 2 SSD drives in Raid 0 and also a single HDD with the same results. My DVD writer is an IDE model, but I can't think that this is the problem since the first time I used this drive and the same original Windows 7 Ultimate Disc there were no problems.I even went as far and got a PS2 keyboard to avoid any USB devices and also downloaded a full untouched version of Windows 7 with the same error! (Maybe my disc got scrtaches after its first use, I don't know)

Unable To Install Windows 7 On New Build - Status 0xc00000e9

Feb 28, 2012

I am unable to install Windows 7 or XP on my new build. I own a Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Disc and the XP Disc is from my old PC. After choosing to boot from my optical drive, I receive a Windows Boot Manager scree that tells me that Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

Status: 0xc00000e9

I have tried the following:
- Rebooting my PC and only having my SSD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Rebooting my PC and only having my HDD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Trying both of my HDDs connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Having both of my HDDs disconnected. (no beeps)
- Trying to install Windows XP, but I received a similar error (no beeps)
- Changed the SATA mode in my BIOS from ACHI to IDE - (my pc then made loud, rapid, and continuous beeps)

Do I have to send my drives back for an RMA or is my MB bad? Everything is powering on, but I do not know what the problem is. Could it be my SATA 6GB/s cables?

Build:
- Motherboard: ASUS P8 Z68-V/Gen 3
- Processor: Intel i5 2500k
- Memory: G.Skill 4GB x 2 DDR3 PC12800
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 560ti
- PSU: Corsair HX850
- Optical Drive: Samsung 12X S-ATA Blu Ray Drive
- SSD: Crucial M4 128 GB → SATA III → SATA 6GB/s
- HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB → 16MB cache → 7200 RPM → SATA 6GB/s

Status 0xc00000e9 - Windows Failed To Load Because Kernel Missing Or Corrupt

Oct 29, 2011

I turned on my pc, and it would not let me get past start up, saying
file : Windowssystem32
tkrnlpa.exe
status : 0xc00000e9 Info:
Windows failed to load because the kernel is missing or corrupt

I tried a few things, mostly the startup repair option that it would (recommend) to me next to the start windows normally option. this did absolutely nothing, and the problem continued. So I said ok, I give up, and decided to back up everything and completely reformat and reinstall windows. I did this, it installed successfully. I couldn't believe it...even after completely reformatting, I could not get past start up. The system repair option still does nothing, even with the disc in and I tried reinstalling it a bunch of times, but now it wont even do that correct all the way through, keeps coming up with errors talking about files either missing or corrupt. I wiped partitions and tried again alot of times, but nothing. Now it doesnt even recognize windows 7 as being installed at all. [URL]

Error 0xc00000e9 Performing Inpage Operation?

Aug 30, 2012

his past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 Unexpected I/O Error Has Occurred

Dec 23, 2011

I have had an HP Envy 14-1110nr for just under a year now and suddenly it has been giving me problems the last few weeks. It started with a couple of hangs or random crashes over the first week. After 2 or 3 of those, the computer simply wouldn't start up. Every time I would turn the laptop on, it would get to a certain part, give me the following error and then restart, over and over.

"File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occurred

Nothing seemed to be working, and then finally last night I started getting errors from just about everything saying that my HDD was rapidly failing.SMART HDD Error 301 Intel Rapid Storage Technology gives me a warning saying something is wrong with the HDD.Microsoft also gave me an error saying that the HDD is at risk and to back up my files immediately. After doing one final test I was able to get the boot problem solved, at least it seems to be fixed for now but the errors are persisting. Could all of the errors that I'm getting because of that boot or is the drive really broken? Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing wrong with the drive at all, no bad sectors, nothing. Could it have something to do with the boot error that I was getting before or is it likely really damaged? The HDD in question is a Samsung HM640JJ 640GB.

Random Computer Restarts In Windows 7 64bit?

Jul 21, 2012

Over the past few days, my desktop computer has restarted twice randomly. Both times have been during times of low demand on the computer. The first time on 7/20/12 I was browsing the internet. The second was on 7/21/12 during a time when I left the computer idle on a browser for a phone call and came back to find my computer restarted with no information about windows updates or anything that I would expect to cause an automatic restart.I have not run into this problem before so I checked a few things which I thought may be a problem. First I did a virus scan because I have had a few problems with infections in the past. I ran several virus programs including malwarebytes, hitmanpro 3.6.0 (trial), microsoft security essentials, and spybot. After the first restart, I found a bootkit with hitman pro (Master Boot Record (Sector 0) in C:$MBR) which was deleted successfully according to the program. To be safe, I restarted and reran all the virus scans and found no further infection. I restarted another time in safe mode and ran them again and still found nothing else. However, the computer restarted today for a second time despite this infection being cleared. I reran the virus scans and found nothing again.Additionally, I loaded a hardware monitor program to check my computer temperatures and found them to be quite comfortable. My video card idle is running at 45C and my processor is running at 28C. I am running windows 7 64 bit which I installed from a disc on a desktop with an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.20GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 video card.

Can't Get Computer To Boot / Not Allow To Enter BIOS - Windows 7 64bit

Dec 28, 2011

My friend recently gave me his HP desktop to take a look at. It came with phenom II quad core processor, 8gb of ddr3 ram, a 1.0 TB WD sata hdd, an integrated geforce nvidia 9100 graphics card, and a 300W psu. When I first turned it on, it booted up to the HP logo and froze there not allowing me to enter the BIOS. After resetting the BIOS I was able to get a slight way into the Windows 7 installation. I tried hooking up the hdd as an external to another desktop and it seemed to be working fine.

I deleted all partitions and reformatted it and tried again, same issue. I've tried with a second hard drive, which i know works, and it also gave the same freezing problem. I've also tried using a different psu which got me a little further into the installation but eventually froze and gave me 0x00000e9 hardware error. With no hard drive at all, it can boot a few times but will eventually freeze up at the logo screen, which led me to believe it might be an overheating problem.

I applied thermal paste to both the cpu and gpu heatsinks and on the first boot it froze during installation with the next few resulting in the same logo screen freeze. I've also realized the gpu heatsink is extremely hot to the touch and at one point, after numerous reboots, the display wouldn't even show. I don't wanna jump to the conclusion that the gpu is fried and buy a new motherboard without consulting anyone.

Windows 7 64bit Computer Running Super Slow - No Errors

Apr 15, 2012

First off my power supply went out. It was a 450watt one I ordered and replaced it with a 750watt power supply. After I replaced the power supply, my computer would not boot, When the power supply went out it was in the middle of updating windows. So I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows, reloaded all my drivers and extra programs. At that point my computer was running great.

I decided to uninstall Bing tool bar, and windows live sign in assistant. it prompted my to reboot. When I rebooted the computer, after about 30 minutes it still had not come up to the desktop, I could boot up in safe mode and it would run fine. I did a system restore, no change, I did a start up repair, no change, Tested the memory it came back fine.

At that point and reformatted the hard drive again, I had another hard drive formatted it and put the install CD in and after 8 hours it is still trying to install Windows 7, No errors just really really slow. So I have replaced the power supply, hard drive, and ran a memory test with no errors, done a clean install of windows. Running Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gig of Ram, 2.8 dual core processor, 1 gig video card, 500 gig hard drive.
