View 10 Replies View RelatedI can only connect to the network using 64 bit applications on Window 7 Pro SP1.The problem occured after installing the latest version of iTunes (may or may not be related). I uninstalled iTunes with no change. IE 32 bit crashes after opening. Firefox opens but gives Server Not Found error. I cannot connect webservers on the local network with Firefox either. Filezilla will not connect to local or remote servers. VNC will not connect to local servers - IE 64 works fine and command line tools like ftp and telnet to internal and external sites works fine - this is not a DNS, Firewall, or Routing issue.

sfc /scannow runs clean.
I reset the winsock, uninstalled all my network adapters, including the drivers and resinstalled them.Rebooted multiple times.Unfortunately I just discoved that System Restore was not enabled so I can't roll back.I doubt this is malware related as I have multiple levels of defense (postini, SpyShelter, Symantec Endpoint) and outside of iTunes have not downloaded or installed anything or even visited unusual websites. I'm about to do a deep scan that will probably take a few hours just to play it safe.
I migrated my HP Deskjet 870Cxi from a WinXp laptop to a new Win7 32bit laptop. I use a parallel to USB printer connector cable. The printer works fine under WinXP.Now the printer will not print under Win7. All jobs are held pending. I can confirm under Windows Devices and Printers that 870c printer driver is recognized. I tried to print a page from Notepad, a test page and text alignment page.HP website says that Win7 has all the drivers and it will load them. I confirm that Win7 does load drivers for 870c but NOT 870Cxi.I checked Windows 7 hardware compatibility at Microsoft.com where it lists a couple of hundred Deskjets that are compatible including 870c, but it does not even list 870Cxi. The nearest comparable listed model is 890Cxi. But again the drivers for 890Cxi is already loaded on Win7 32bit. But Win7 chooses 870c.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMe again, so I know why the Windows 7 HP PC in my last thread won't connect to a wired network here at work, however I've just tried to connect this PC (which is running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit, 2.6Ghz Quad core, 4GB RAM (it's an Acer Veriton X275)) and I get the same stuff. It sees an unidentifed local area connection but it tells me there is no internet access and no network access. Not only is this annoying, but having just got the company to spend over 450 on copies of Windows 7 Pro for 4 other PCs (as well as memory upgrades for 2) it's more than a little worrying!
why this Windows 7 PRO PC won't connect to a wired network? Server PC is running Windows Server 2000, coming through a Netgear switch.
I'm changing operating systems to take advantage of the 8g of ram resident on my new machine. Currently it's running XP in 32 bit mode. What kind of problems can and will I encounter by doing this and what is the best approach to be successful here.

I will be getting windows 7, and MS office for both computers. Mom will get basic office, I will one more advanced, the one with MS publisher. I was reading MS office site, that said get MS office 32 bit, because a lot of the extras do not work in 64 bit version.
can I run Windows 7 64bit on my computer, then add MS office 32 bit and run the 32 bit software from Windows 7 64? Or does both Windows 7 ( the OS) and MS office (the program) both need to be the same bit version?
i have the 64 bit win 7 installed in an alienware m17x r2 laptop. i have 4 gb mem installed. for some reason, windows is only registering 2.9gb installed. i have ran my mem diagnostics from the bios screen and both mem sticks come up as good. is there a reason i dont have access to my total ram?

Currently, I have Windows 7 32 bit installed on my Dell Studio 15 laptop. I originally had Windows Vista, but upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit for free during an event on my college campus. My laptop is however, 64 bit capable, so I'd like to upgrade to 64 bit. I realize this entails a clean install and I'm ok with that, however I have no idea of how to do that! I don't have any upgrade discs because the upgrade was done for me at the event. I have located my product key by downloading an application online that found it for me. Now, is there a (relatively) pain-free way for me to install Windows 7 64 bit on my capable computer, even though its 32 bit right now and I lack installation discs?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is just a personal opinion and others may very well disagree. But I think Windows 7 64-bit is better than 32-bit simply because of the ability to make better use of installed memory. A 32-bit machine is limited to 4GB minus whatever memory might be set aside for graphics, etc. Most folks see about 3-3.5GB of usable RAM on a 32-bit machine. If your machine is upgradeable (or came with) more than 4GB RAM then 64-bit is the way to go.Memory - Set Maximum Amount Used by Windows 7..As far as using older legacy XP programs you could try running them in compatibility mode.
