Transferring Everything From 32bit Computer To 64bit Computer
Oct 15, 2011
I have a 32bit comp, W7 Ult, 1TB HD and I would like to clone that onto a comp that is a 64bit. HD is the same capacity, question is, can this process be done? Will the programs from the 32bit work in the 64bit comp.? I'm thinking of using Acronis True Image Home 2011.I was given a newer desktop minus the HD and was going to retire my old desktop and I wanted what was on the old comp(32bit) transfered to the new (64bit) tower.
I have purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64bit pre-install. It is replacing my old XP Pro 32bit laptop. What do I need to do to transfer files and programs from the older XP Pro 32 bit laptop to the new Win-win 64 bit laptop?
I am about to receive a new 64 bit computer soon i want to transfer some setup files I prepared for the new computer but i want to make sure that it will work..
i am downloading these files (video driver setups, game setups, etc.) on my old 32 bit computer and putting them on a flash drive and then use the flash drive to transfer it to the new computer so my question is, will this work?
some examples I am transferring are the AMD catalyst control software drivers, anti-malware setup, and the Vindictus game setup
I cant update my samsung galaxy on a 64 bit system. MUST be running 32 bit. any work arounds or inexpensive way to go from 64 bit to 32 ..Windows 7 Home?
Is there a program or configuration tool that can make it possible to install a 32-bit program on my 64-bit computer? I wanted to install either the free Spyshelter or Dataguard, both antikeylogger programs, but the free versions do not support 64 bits.
Finally time to replace my Dell desktop running XP Home with an HP desktop with Windows 7. What is the best way to transfer files, pictures, music, contacts, etc. from XP to Windows 7? My email and contacts are currently in Outlook. I don't know what email program to use on the new computer since I bought the Student and family version of Microsoft and I don't think it includes Outlook.
I have a new Lenovo laptop with Windows 7. I have an old Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows XP. I realize I need to move my Firefox bookmarks and MS Office Outlook address book to the new computer.
1. How do I do this?
2. Are there any other files or info I should transfer?
I'm trying to avoid losing anything if the old laptop dies (no signs, just old). I store all my program backups, pictures and documents on a portable hard drive and cds.
3. Should I be doing more? I notice my Lenovo automatically backs up every day.
if I move an OEM windows 7 to another computer (with a program like windows 7 system preparation tool and I believe that can be done) I understand I may lose windows activation. What I would like to know is if I do, could it be restored (activation) using a program such as "advanced tokens manager".
I wanna do.My friend has a really old laptop (HP Compaq nX8220) with her info on it. She recently purchased a new Dell Laptop and now she wants to find a way to put all the old data from her old computer to the new one
I bought a new Asus and installed MS Office 2010. It does not include Powerpoint which my old MS 2007 did with the more advanced package. Is there a way to transfer my Powerpoint program to the new computer?
my brother has purchased parts and is going to build his computer next week. His old desktop has Windows 7 installed on it and it is an Asus. Can I install windows 7 onto his new PC with his old CD key? I already have the Windows 7 on a disc. When it asks for a serial key, can he just enter in the one from his old desktop or will it recognize that it is a new computer and not allow it?
basically I just got a new computer, and would like to transfer my minesweeper records from my old computer to my new one. Both are running the same Windows 7 x64. The reason I want to transfer is because I became RIDICULOUSLY good with my old laptop, and will never come close with my new one (different mouse styles). I mostly played easy, but I became damn good at it. I had a 95% win rate over 10,000 games, which is ridiculous considering the number of no-win games. I also had my top 5 times at under 2 seconds, with an extremely rare one-click win top time of 0 (shows up as 1) seconds.
When I do a large file transfer or multiple file transfers my computer gets extremely slow during the process. Slow meaning that to open the web browser it struggles and while typing search terms in google there is lag. That's just one example, other's being opening programs.Last night I reformatted my computer because I thought maybe it had something to do with it. But no luck because after the clean install was complete I transferred about 600gb back on the computer and during this process tried to view the properties xpadder (Right click-> Properties) and the entire system froze. A hard reset and I started the process all over again, tried watching tv using windows media center and it worked but flipping through channels was extremely slow and it is not usually.

Some background info: I originally had my computer overclocked but after a Bios upgrade I couldn't get the same results so It is currently stock speed. Computer is only a year old. Running temps are around 40-45C. Harddrive temps are normal (40-48C). I have completed a full check disk and monitor the harddrive with CrystalDisk Info (SMART Utility) and it seems 100%.
I just upgraded to an Verizon LG Octane...I was told by the sales person that I can transfer pictures , text messages from mye-mail to my phone...how do you do this? Whenever I click on the picture to send I put my telephone number in the address and click to send and it pops up and says can't be sent wrong address
I have a newer computer (HP Pavilion Slimline) with Windows 7 and 64bit system. My old hard drive is out of a dead (won't power up) HP Pavilion Slimline Vista 32bit. I pulled the old drive and connected it through a harness and the USB on the new computer. When I open the devices and printers program the old drive is there but when I open the icon all I get is the properties etc. but no way to access any data on the old drive. Do I need a program or is the drive dead? It powers and runs and when it is connected and I open the properties I'm told the old drive is working properly.
Cannot access my email after transferring files from old computer.how to access email from [URL] Is there a free program I can install? If so, how do I access that address?
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate with a 6-core AMD processor, 16GB RAM, SSD as primary. Whenever I transfer a large file over the network to another system the mouse and other applications will persistently hang for a second here and there as long as the transfer is in progress. I'm sending 8-10GB files over from the secondary 2TB 5400RPM drive and no resources are showing as maxed out so I don't get it. I'm thinking of trying a 3rd party file transfer solution again, but this still shouldn't be happening with the default.
My computer got the BootMGR is missing problem, which I have had in the past which is not that big. I insert the Windows 7 64 Ultimate disk it starts up everything fine, press repair my computer and it finds the installation. But when I press on it and next it has an error pop up saying "This version of system recovery options is not conpattble with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that i compatible with this version of Windows." If I dont select anything but press next it allows me to look at the screen Im supposed to, but if I go to command prompt or click autmatically repair nothing will be saved or changed. This is the same disc I installed Windows with and repaired it several times. But I did have to reset BIOS earlier so this may have affected something.
