Error 170 Requested Resource Is In Use

Nov 24, 2012

I've been unable to diagnose an error I've been receiving when I try to open programs (Error 170 "The Requested Resource is in Use"). I've googled the problem and although it appears to be a fairly common error, almost every site I've been to seems to think that I have some kind of removable storage hooked up, which I don't. This is happening whenever I try to open a program whether it be Advanced SystemCare or System Restore. Further more, I'm unable to manage several tasks in Windows, such as creating user accounts. My anti-virus has come up clean, so I'm at a loss.

Windows Installer - Resource Unavailable Error?

Aug 27, 2011

I just tried to watch a movie on Netflix, and it prompted me to upgrade Microsoft Silverlight. I saved the file to my desktop, and when I tried to open the .exe file, I got this error message from Windows Installer: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

I tried moving the downloaded file to a different location, but it had no effect. I apparently can't play any movie now from Netflix, since I have to update Silverlight before I can play anything.

WEP Encryption Key Changed - DNS Cannot Communicate With Resource Error

Jul 4, 2012

So after the change of the WEP encryption key, there is another issue that emerged out of nowhere again. This time it's the DNS server error, and other windows in our house can connect except for me. I can enter the security key this time however the wireless icon indicates a exclamation mark icon overlapping it. I tried using cmd and typed ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew with a reboot afterwards, changed the Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 on their DNS server address settings, resetting the router and configuring the network adapter but it doesn't work.

Although, the windows 7 can sense the internet and connect it but the result came up "DNS server error" and "DNS cannot communicate with the resource error". I currently don't hold the real password for the router, however I managed to retrieved the old WEP password for the router. My cousin has the password, whenever he types the password now which I don't know at this stage doesn't work (Security Key Mismatch) and when I secretly tried the old password, it worked but with an exclamation mark on the wireless icon.

Error Message "cannot Supply Requested Class"

Feb 17, 2013

I cannot print a Live Mail message using File->Print. It dies with error message "cannot supply requested class" naming line 2378 and code 0. File problem is res://ieframe.dll/previewjs.Other problem was WLM starting with "Message Database not found." For this one there was no Inbox messages, and several other folders were empty (all locally created by me). I spent a bit of time restoring my messages from Comcast and resorting my local files. then, I had to use saved folders in WLM to get some old messages. Then redelete messages from 1-2-2013 that were on Comcast. I dumbly downloaded IE10 to "try" it. It turns out you can't get rid of it, and I suspect that it is the source of these problems. However, you can't turn it off! I tried reinstalling IE9 and was told "it is already installed -- install failed." So I'm stuck with 10. I removed and reinstalled printer driver and every program works perfectly EXCEPT WLM, using ieframe.dll. I looked into replacing this dll with advice on the net, but there are things like REG Pro (or something like that) which are reviewed as causing problems and malware.

should I persist in trying to get a "new" copy of ieframe.dll or is that embedded in IE10? Can I get rid of IE10 and revert back to 9? Or what is solution; wait until IE10 is official and gets reinstalled? I wish I had noticed it was a Beta. When I installed it, the button read "Try it" which was all I was going to do. Meantime I installed Chrome so I have a backup browser. I am currently designing my monster gamer and when I get it glued together I'm not sure if I should go straight to Windows 8 or not. (I have one license left for 7 from a three chair version.)

Generate The Requested Reports In The Sticky?

Nov 18, 2011

Want to generate the reports in the sticky (attacking folders as a zip). I've done the first report and have the folder (Windows_N6_BSOD). How do I ZIP this exactly?

The third step (Start>perfmon/report). I type this into the search bar in start and don't get anything? (I have Windows 7).

I want to be able to put all the info as requested as I'm getting a few random crashes on startup (including the occasional BSOD). But obviously I want to be able to give the correct info to the experts on here.

Up to two days ago I could instantly access my Hotmail account from the weblink in Bing or from a link that I have saved to my Favorites. The only change to my computer that I can think of is that I have in the days prior to this change downloaded and used the new version of CC Cleaner to delete tracking cookies, temp files, etc.. I never use it for doing anything to the registry.

SFC / Scannow Stops At 69 Percent - Could Not Perform Requested Operation

Nov 20, 2012

In the beginning of the year I got the infamous malware that infected many PC's worldwide (can't remember the name) and got my action center completely destroyed. I eventually fixed it, by adding the Security Center service that was gone, but one issue still remains: the action center system tray icon is greyed out, and impossible to turn back on!

I searched online, and the most common solution I've found was to run the sfc /scannow command. So I did, and for some reason it stops at 69% and after about a minute stuck at that number it says: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" I tried multiple times, but the same error happens every time. How can I fix this error, without re-installing the OS? Or is this only solved that way?

Fraps - Application Requested Runtime To Terminate It In Unusual Way

So today I decided to record some gameplay with fraps, but once I was done recording a message popped up saying:

"The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I've looked this error up, I have reinstalled the C++ redistributable packages, and it does not work. Basically whenever I am finished recording a fraps video, or even if I navigate (via Windows Explorer) to the directory in which the video files are located, I will get this error. As well as playing or moving the files. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a newer version of fraps, but still, no go.

Also when I put the drive back online the activity is at 0 but eventually goes back to 100% and I can hear the drive activity.

PC Not Accessible, You Might Not Have Permission To Use This Network Resource

Mar 9, 2012

[pc name] not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.Lately we have had problems with all Windows XP pcs not being able to access all the shared folders on one Windows 7 pc on the lan.It is intermittent. I cannot think of what has changed recently. It is temporarily fixed by a reboot of the Win7 pc, but since it is a server in an office environment, this can be difficult to do middle of the day.Turning firewall software off on host and client has no effect.Network sharing profiles are never changed as issue comes and goes.Unsharing a folder, and resharing it has no effect. The Win7 pc does show up as a networked computer and all are in the same workgroup. All Windows 7 pcs on the lan can access the shared folders when all the XP pcs cannot.Another Win7 pc on the lan is nearly an identical hardware build with same firewall and never has a problem.

Network sharing options for current profile:

network discovery: on
file printer sharing: on
public folder sharing: on
media streaming: on
file sharing connections: 40-56 bit encryption
password protected sharing: off\

[CRASH] Resource Exhaustion On Boot

Jan 8, 2012

OS: Win 7 Pro 64 bit MSDNAA product key, all critical updates of course
Comp: MSI-171 GX710

Every so often, as in every other boot or every three startups, or as today would have it every single time I boot up until I get fed up enough to come here, my CPU frequency is peaked out at an invariable 100% and my RAM usage steadily climbs from where it starts around 900MB-1GB until it too is maxed, and that is where my system crashes (to better define crash, black screen for a few seconds, and then it powers off instantly). I have attached a screenshot for reference.I have analyzed my resource monitor to watch this unfold many-a-time, and the process that is eating RAM is non-other than svchost. My CPU is getting killed by dwm. I can end and restart the latter but srvhost or svchost or whatever it is, is a system process. Not that the first one proved effective, but dammit ill get this machine to do what its told one way or another.T

Resource Monitor Says Have 18 GB Installed Memory?

Aug 7, 2010

I just got Windows 7 Pro 64-bit a couple weeks ago and it's been terrific so far. However, there's one thing that has annoyed me quite a bit that I can't seem to figure out. When I look at the Resource Monitor, I'm told that I have 18+ GB of installed memory on my computer. This is obviously not correct, however, since I only have two 2GB sticks of DDR2 installed. Here are some pics showing the issue:I have no clue why Windows is saying that there's 14 GB of hardware reserved memory. Seems to be a faulty reading of some kind, and I'm wondering if there's any way to go about correcting this or finding out the root of the problem. If I can't get it fixed, it's not a big deal since my performance is terrific. Just something that bugs me a little and I'd like to know what's causing the incorrect reading
