View 3 Replies View RelatedI tend to bring my personal laptop to work as I usually use it when working remotely.
I can find the printer and install it but I cannot print, even the test page fails.
I figured out that this is because my personal laptop is not on my company domain. However, like for any other shared resource such as a network drive or accessing our exchange server, I would expect to be asked for my credentials so that I can connect to the printer.
Cna this be done? Is there a way to print from my personal laptop to a network printer on a domain?
Using Windows 7 and Word, each request to print delivers only the test page. A request to print e-mail also results in printing the test page only. Have disconnected and uninstalled the 812C and then reconnected (USB) and reinstalled the driver. Same result. Only the test page prints.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThree days ago when I tried to print from the web and then WORD there was no installed printer. I checked and the printer was still installed but when printing a document the print screen said their was no printer installed. I checked and the print spooler was not working. So I downloaded the Microsoft toolMicrosoftFixit.Printing.Run.exe. I ran it and presto the printer worked but only once and when I went to print again, again the print box showed that there was no printer installed. So I have to run the Microsoft.Fixit.printing.run.exe tool every time I want to print a page then restart the computer. A royal pain and time waster.
Something is turning the spooler off and not allowing individual programs to see the installed printer and therefore reports that there is no installed printer.2nd issue. this is a new laptop (ACER) and there is no LED light to show "Caps Lock". I did find a setting that flashes the screen and makes an audible beep. However, my wife has the exact same computer and hers has a 2" x 2" box appear each time she puts cap Lock on. Which is way less distracting than audible beeps and flashing screens. Is there a setting for this? I have not found one in the Microsoft website for Windows 7.
So from my work computer, we scan documents in as .tif documents, some can be up to 100 pages. When I open it to print, it opens in the picture viewing screen. It won't let me print just 1 page, say page 36 out of 91... I don't want to print all 91 pages just page 36.

Troubleshooter indicted a HP Photosmart C310 driver was missing. I went to Device Manager and every entry under Other Devices was missing their drivers. The C310 printer, the SM Bus Controller and the Ethernet Controller. Windows Update was unable to find and install any drivers. Why all the Other Device components lost their drivers at the same time?

I've been using my Ps3 controller as an alternative to an Xbox 360 controller on my PC (to play games with a gamepad) but in order to use my Ps3 controller as a makeshift 360 controller, I need test signing enabled.
Unfortunately with test signing enabled I get a big ugly watermark at the bottom right of my screen, as far as I know the only way to disable this is to disable test signing, otherwise it just won't leave! Is there any way I can get past this and somehow keep driver test signing enabled but get rid of that horrid watermark ruining my gorgeous wallpaper?

Unfortunately I don't remember what the message was about. What I do remember is that I immediately opened a new firefox tab and searched up the error. I clicked on the first link, and the OP was talking about how he had received the error and shortly after, his computer shut down. Almost on cue, my computer crashed and restarted itself.Ever since then, I can't boot up my computer properly.I turn on the computer, I see the first two screens that I always see (BIOS screen and then the 'Detecting eSATA drives' screen). After this it goes to the third screen, which I also always see. But this is where the problem is.First it loads all that code crap that I never understand. Then, like always it gives me these two lines: 'Verifying DMI Pool Data....'And then 'Boot from CD'. This always happens. But regularly from here it just boots up and goes to the Windows loading screen. Now, on the same screen, it starts giving me error messages.

Before, I was also getting the error message 'PXE-E53: No Boot Filename Received' prior to the media test failure message. After I unplugged and replugged my internal hard drive (some forums were saying to check the cables for the hard drive) the first error dissapeared.I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit OS. I bought the computer second-hand off a guy who was selling it online. He didn't have any of the CDs, so my copy of Windows 7 is burned (though I do have the CD still). Before yesterday it was working fine. All I want to do is to be able to get into the computer (Hard Drive) once, so that I can backup all my files and then I'd reinstall Windows 7 from scratch.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel 520 series 120GB SSD. I ran AS SSD which told came up with '31 K - Bad'. The speeds I got were 480MBps read and 120MBps write. Very low, but I believe the motherboard is faulty (the 3rd party SATA3 and USB3 are also not working).I used an upgrade copy of Windows, so I installed Windows XP to the SSD first and then used the Windows 7 upgrade disc to do a clean install.I read Windows 7 is suppose to set the correct alignment, but I deleted the partition before install, so I'm not sure why it was set 31K.

I plan to install an SSD as my system drive and use Paragon to back up and restore. If the Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 (Advanced) Free (English) edition will automatically align SSD partition when it restores from an archive? The paid edition does this but am not sure about the Free edition.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI received a Crucial M4 128GB SSD and today have been trying to copy a Windows 7 partition across to it using the tutorial on the How To Geek website which seemed to be fairly comprehensive. However, although I managed to get to the point of creating a partition and setting the alignment I can get no further. The snag seems to arise in that the instructions tell you to create a primary partition with appropriate alignment etc. But then when it comes to copying the partition, the program (Easeus Partition Master) says it must be unallocated space.
I've also tried this with Partition Wizard but the same applies - it must be unallocated space. Although I could copy across the partition to unallocated space, goodness only knows what the alignment would be thus probably reducing SSD life and slowing the performance in the process. Any reliable way in which I can copy the Windows 7 partition whilst retaining the alignment. I should also add that I am fully aware that a fresh install would take care of the alignment for me but we want to avoid the hassle and time (probably days since this is my husband's PC) involved in a full re-installation what with the drivers and all apps and their settings etc.
