Should Change The Alignment On SSD

I have an Intel 520 series 120GB SSD. I ran AS SSD which told came up with '31 K - Bad'. The speeds I got were 480MBps read and 120MBps write. Very low, but I believe the motherboard is faulty (the 3rd party SATA3 and USB3 are also not working).I used an upgrade copy of Windows, so I installed Windows XP to the SSD first and then used the Windows 7 upgrade disc to do a clean install.I read Windows 7 is suppose to set the correct alignment, but I deleted the partition before install, so I'm not sure why it was set 31K.

You may not have come across this. It is very good. Small, fast - lots of great features - it will even align when creating/moving partitions, and has a migrate to ssd/hd with alignment feature.

I plan to install an SSD as my system drive and use Paragon to back up and restore. If the Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 (Advanced) Free (English) edition will automatically align SSD partition when it restores from an archive? The paid edition does this but am not sure about the Free edition.

I received a Crucial M4 128GB SSD and today have been trying to copy a Windows 7 partition across to it using the tutorial on the How To Geek website which seemed to be fairly comprehensive. However, although I managed to get to the point of creating a partition and setting the alignment I can get no further. The snag seems to arise in that the instructions tell you to create a primary partition with appropriate alignment etc. But then when it comes to copying the partition, the program (Easeus Partition Master) says it must be unallocated space.
I've also tried this with Partition Wizard but the same applies - it must be unallocated space. Although I could copy across the partition to unallocated space, goodness only knows what the alignment would be thus probably reducing SSD life and slowing the performance in the process. Any reliable way in which I can copy the Windows 7 partition whilst retaining the alignment. I should also add that I am fully aware that a fresh install would take care of the alignment for me but we want to avoid the hassle and time (probably days since this is my husband's PC) involved in a full re-installation what with the drivers and all apps and their settings etc.

installed an airport extreme router and then returned it because it would only communicate with our apple stuff and nothing else. put the netgear router back in and now neither laptop we own will print anything accept test pages. everything worked fine before. thought maybe something happened to the printer so i got a new one , installed it, same thing. have uninstalled and reinstalled and tried several other changes suggested on the internet. still ,same thing only prints test pages.

my notebook desktop icon all change to Microsoft word icon also the extensions change to LNK file (.lnk) except my computer and recycle bin icon, I used windows 7 ultimate x64?

In Windows 7, all the good icons are in %SystemRoot%system32imageres.dll, but we're still taken to the old SHELL32.dll when it comes time to change an icon.
Is there a registry key or something that we can change to remedy this?

I installed 7 on D: because of the Ultimate disappointment on C:. How can I swap partitions? I don't care about the Vista anymore. If I 'quick format' C:, can I just copy D: to it? If I delete C: will D: become C:? I just bought Easeus Pro and I don't want to reinstall everythig again.

Just downloaded the Home Premium Upgrade 64 bit ISO file from MS and want to replace my 32 bit OS. I know I have to do a Custom install, and somewhere at the beginning of the install is the option to format my C: partition. I missed it a few weeks ago when I installed the 32 bit.

I need to change permissions so I can delete my default "Dropbox" folder from my C drive. I can't figure this out; the "objects" menus and all that are beyond me. If I try to delete it says I have to change permissions....I tried, but I don't get it at all. Can someone just give me a step-by-step? I know it's complicated, because you can't see the way it was set up originally by the guy who built my computer....I just need to delete that folder so I can start over fresh!

I setup my win 7 machine and during the network setup I accidently added a character on the end of the name of my network. It now will only show the network by this name so I am unable to see or access my home server or the other 4 Vista machines. I can access the internet but not the other resources on the network. I have went into properties and changed workgroup name, deleted connections and the wireless connection is called the same as my network name but it still shows the network as the wrong name. In vista you could merge networks to get rid of this problem but not here that I can find.

I use Google chrome for my normal browsing but since I am a forum moderator,I must use IE(the reason is that IE shows the preview of what you've done in a topic(e.g Hyper linking , importing an image and etc)but other browsers will show the html based topic(when you are writing one I mean)and since IE8 is so junk!!! I decided to move to IE9.But the point is I really don't like it's icon.Is there a way to change IE9's icon? Or are there any other browsers that show the preview of a topic when you are writing one?

I sign into an emulator for work and have to use my F keys a lot.I hate having to hold down the FN key at the bottom of the keyboard just to use my keys. Does anyone know how to turn off the settings of the F keys and use them as they are mapped on my emulator? My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6

I tried everything I can think of to change the desk top back ground but it just stays the same- Windows 7- picture. So not sure what to do now or if it is a fix from microsoft that has to be done? I did follow all the right instructions to do the change but with no change. The Theme will change when I click on it but not the back ground. Read tutials and treads and made sure I was doing it right and all settings were right but still no good!! It really isn't that big of a deal but if it's suppose to work why not on my brand new computer and operating system?
