I set up a password on my computer for a purpose.So; my bro somehow got past my computer password (was secure pw) and then used my account to create another user accountHe made that one the main user admin and changed mine to standard. I changed mine back to admin, but I want to delete the account he created and have only my account back w/ all the power (main admin). I'm not able delete the main account he created and I dont want to delete mine because of all the settings on it
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently took ownership of the explorer.exe file so that I could modify my Windows 7 start orb. Everything went well and my new orb looks great. I am now trying to give ownership back to TrustedInstaller using NT SERVICETrustedInstaller. It appears that ownership does in fact change to TrustedInstaller, however, I'm still able to change and modify the explorer.exe file, even though I'm not the owner anymore. I've gone into permissions but I can't "allow" any control on the administrator account. (it's all grayed out) I can only "deny" control. I remember seeing a warning about inherited permissions on that file but when I unchecked it, the only account remaining in the accounts list was TrustedInstaller.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had some partitions, as follows.
||SYSTEM RESERVED||WINDOWS 7||SHARED DATA||WINDOWS 8||
Next, I shrank the Windows 8 volume and made a new volume. My plan was going to be to clone the Windows 8 volume to the new volume, so I could add more storage space to my shared data partition. The problem is this: creating the extra volume converted my whole HDD to dynamic. That said, my Windows 8 boot was lost immediately. So, I just deleted the Windows 8 partition and the new one and merged all that extra space to my data partition. Now, will this mess with my Windows 7 boot at all? I'm scared to restart my computer. All of my partitions (including my Windows 7 one) are just simple volumes now.
I use the same software to try to change it back and it wont let me, is there a way to get it back, I used logon controller to change, logon controller has an option to put the default logon screen back but it doesn't seem to work at all, please help.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi needed to pawn my laptop for a short time and didnt want my files to be viewed by anyone while it was not in my possesion, so what i did i changed the file permissions of my c: drive so that only admin had fulll control and no one else. well now i cant access my c: drive with my admin accrt. nor will it let me change the file permissions either. also a hand full of other things will not work such as the internet explorer icon on the task bar or start menu but i can open i.e. from the recently viewd submenu from the i.e. icon on the start menu. also i can open files on my c: drive from any old shortcut icons i had left on my desktop but i cant acces them directly from explorer. so i found some work arounds but really need to get full control of my h/d.

I find my system font a little small on my TV but i want to keep the current font size, while my desktop is switched over to my computer monitor. is there a way i can quickly and easily change windows font size? i have a feeling this will require at least a logoffI know there are settings to change size of most things, including font, but that's too much trouble every time i switch back and forth. whatg would be really cool, would be if windows recognized my preference automatically

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo the problem is had a virus called the system check virus and started going through the manual process of getting rid of it. One part of it is making hidden folders, etc accessible and then renaming the virus files so it doesnt recognise them and they stop running. While in there i accidentally changed two of the folders names which had alot of characters so i mistook it for one of the virus files.I've since learned these are windows folders and needed. was hoping someone could post a screenshot or something showing what these folders are meant to be called so i can change them back.

View 5 Replies View Relatedfrom the digital audio device? every time i plug in my $20 speakers i got from target, the audio device changes from my soundmax driver (which comes thru the lappy speakers) to a digital audio device in my little speaker icon thingy and i don't know how to manually change it back except thru reinstalling the drivers and rebooting a bunch of times,when i go to properties it only shows the enabled device and i can't find the other output option. if i reinstall the soundmax drivers it switches back to laptop speakers but this is obviously a hassle.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my start menu has suddenly become ridiculously tall, spanning the entire height of the screen. This image might give a better idea: imgur: the simple image sharer.
I have no idea how or why this happened. I tried searching for the problem, but I can't find a single thing even remotely related. My recent items count is at 0, so it's nothing to do with that. I've already tried fiddling about with the setting for that, but with no success at all. I tried a system restore to before this occurred, but this had absolutely no effect either. It's only affecting this profile, and no others (although, really, the only others are guest or temp accounts).
I have changed the default of programs and i want to change them to the basic program provided by window7
View 3 Replies View Relatedi had last year Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
may also be relate to the issue that this user had Shortcut icons re-sizing randomly My OS had gone crazy and change icon's sizes back to details sizes in random folders, last time i had that issue i thought it was solved by this method Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
But unfortunately it only was temporary, i had to format anyway so the problem was solved after the format and never appeared again till 3 days ago.
it not seem to be a virus but it really annoy, the only thing i done 3 days ago that was extraordinary for me was to edit some video on windows live movie maker + cccp codecs, i rarely use WLMM but happened to use it 3 days ago, and after that the issue reappear, i can't use system restore since i done alot of stuff on my pc and don't want to lose them, and also i don't happened to made restore point before the day the issue occurred and the rest are deleted..so SR is not a option.
I have a USB external hard drive that I keep all my documents etc on (had it for years)I upgraded from Vista Home to & Home Premium then had to upgrade recently to Professional to run my Sage. Through all these upgrades my ext. drive ran fine. Occasionally the drvie letter would change if I had something else plugged into the USB, this was always easily corected in disk management by changing the drive path.The connection on the case packed up so I had to get the drive put into a new case, now when I plug it in the drive is assigned G instead of F, I tried to change the drive letter allocation in Disk Management but it won't let me as the program still thinks I have a second ext. hard drive which is labelled F. I suspect this has happened because when the usb connection broke the drive was disconnected suddenly instead of a proper eject.How do I get Disk Management to remove the inactive drive - i can't find any obvious way - eject, delete etc are all missing when I click on tools or tasks.

Is there a registry key or something that we can change to remedy this?
