Jan 14, 2013installed an airport extreme router and then returned it because it would only communicate with our apple stuff and nothing else. put the netgear router back in and now neither laptop we own will print anything accept test pages. everything worked fine before. thought maybe something happened to the printer so i got a new one , installed it, same thing. have uninstalled and reinstalled and tried several other changes suggested on the internet. still ,same thing only prints test pages.

Disable Test Mode Watermark But Keep Test Signing Enabled?
Mar 10, 2011I've been using my Ps3 controller as an alternative to an Xbox 360 controller on my PC (to play games with a gamepad) but in order to use my Ps3 controller as a makeshift 360 controller, I need test signing enabled.
Unfortunately with test signing enabled I get a big ugly watermark at the bottom right of my screen, as far as I know the only way to disable this is to disable test signing, otherwise it just won't leave! Is there any way I can get past this and somehow keep driver test signing enabled but get rid of that horrid watermark ruining my gorgeous wallpaper?
USB Performing EXTREMELY Slow
Jun 30, 2009Since installing Windows 7 all of my USB ports are ridiculously slow, USB 1.0 speeds at best.
I did not have this problem at all with XP, so it is not hardware related.
It is affecting a variety of devices, so no single one is to blame.
I guess on the plus side, my iPhone can almost get a full charge in the ~hour it takes to sync.
New Build Not Performing As Expected?
Nov 12, 2011I recently built a new computer on which to play Starcraft II and eventually guildwars, etc.However, the computer is lagging consistently and noticeably during SC2 gameplay; i didn't expect this.Here are the specs:
1. AMD A8-3850

4. G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3

NOTE: I'm running windows 7 (32-BIT)!Due to my purchase of windows 7-32 bit, i can only use 3.25 of the 4 gigs of RAM. Is my lag caused by only having 3.25 gigs of ram? would that .75 extra really make the difference? All the drivers, according to driver genius professional edition, are up to date.All i can think of is that i don't have enough RAM?

May 6, 2012My HP ProBook 4730s contains switchable graphics. One of which, is an ATI Radeon HD 7470M, and the other is a generic Intel HD Family. Now, I can assure you that when I switch between cards, they switch properly, and are in the correct order. I have checked with many different methods. Now to the actual issue. In low and medium end games, my Intel out preforms my ATI my miles. For example, in Trackmania United Forever, on my ATI, medium settings, 720p, no AA = 20fps. Intel, max settings, 900p (native res), 4x AA = 60fps.However, if I play Mirror's Edge, these results are inverted, thus proving that the ATI is more powerful.
What I can only conclude is that the ATI is attempting to conserve power by limiting it's performance in low end games. Problem is, I have configured it for max performance in every setting I can find. I just don't get it.
Win 7 Performing Simultaneous Tasks On Network
Aug 13, 2009This is a bit annoying. Not sure what the cause.. This very machine used to pull this off without issue both with xp and vista. Seems when I start to move a large file from one machine to another, and then simultaneously start browsing the file systems on networked computers, everything drags to a halt. I will click to open a network directory, and then wait a good 40 seconds before that directory will open. I wonder if anyone else has had trouble multitasking on the network like this. My lines should all be gigabit..
I can browse the internet while moving the file no problem. The file I am pulling to my computer, is coming from a different computer than the one I am trying to browse..
Error 0xc00000e9 Performing Inpage Operation?
Aug 30, 2012his past week, my little one dropped my laptop on the floor which gave me error 0xc00000e9. I reinstalled Win 7 and everything seemed to be back to normal. Once I logged on, the computer operated so slow that it lagged when typing. I went to control panel and found out that none of the Microsoft, Intel programs were listed. I then realized updates weren't turned on, so I tried turning it on, but it gave me an error. This was the same error I got with many of the services not willing to turn on. I then went to services and tried turning it on from there, but I got error performing inpage operation. After that, I tried CHKDSK L: /R, but after waiting 5 days, it wouldn't move in stage 4 of 5.

Apr 28, 2011My computer tower has begun recently making a "clicking" noise on Restart/Shutdown and I am having trouble finding out if it is my HDD or my PSU making the noise.
The weird problem is, it doesn't make the click noise on a fresh install of Windows 7, and also does not make the noise when I installed Ubuntu linux as a test.
It only starts making the click noise on a restart/shutdown after installing Windows updates.
Other than that, my PSU and HDD both perform as if they were brand new. I am having no power issues, and my HDD is reading/writing perfectly fine and has passed both diagnostics and surface checks. EDIT: I seem to have found the culprit, it was a faulty and outdated AMD SATA controller driver provided by Windows update. Installed 11.4 AHCI SATA controller and the clicking has now stopped.
PrtScn Key Actually Bringing Up The Print Dialog Box To Print?
Jan 23, 2013I'm on Windows 7 and have run into the annoyance of my PrtScn key actually bringing up the print dialog box to print. It still copies the screen to the clipboard for a paste into paint, but I can't figure out why it's bringing up the dialog to print or how to turn that off. I have seen it before maybe 8 years ago on Windows XP but do not remember what was done to correct it. When I try to search, I just find posts about it not working or how to turn the whole screen capture function off for the PrtScn button.

Aug 20, 2010I am on the tail end of building my system. It has been quite and experience so far. After an already successful first build, the computer is OC at 3.9 ghz stable but then I felt the urge to upgrade my sole 1TB hard drive ( 32 MB Cache /3 mbs ) into a RAID 0 configuration,using 2 brand new WD 1TB hard drive, 64 MB Cache / 6 mbs, which my Asus supports. I am assuming that this will seriously improve speed and performance.trying to figure out the RAID setup in BIOS and a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit, I finally got it to work. The computer is now operational. But there is only concern I have...
I can't tell any MAJOR improvement ! A slight improvement in speed when I change windows and programs is notice.In addition, the transfer rate when I moved files to the new RAID was quicker at around 88 MBS. Why I am concern is because my Windows system assessment's score for hard disk transfer rate is only at 5.9, which is low and the same as before. Everything else is at 7.5 or higher. Also, I was hoping the load times of my files ( the thumbnail previews ) would increase in speed, but appears to be the same. I am somewhat certain that my RAID setup in BIOS was done correctly. The system is seeing one drive with a 2 TB capacity. I use my computer to do a lot of hd video editing.
1- Is there a way or to test, monitor, or tweak my RAID 0 setup for optimum performance?
2- Am I actually getting the best out of RAID 0 and my expectations were just too high?
3- Are there specifically " one " type of RAID 0 setup? ( I just want to eliminate the possibility of setting up RAID 0 incorrectly in BIOS ).

Test All Memory At Once With Memtest?
Sep 3, 2011I am trying to diagnose a problem with my machine, and in so doing I have run memtest overnight (to test all 8GB of RAM--which takes about 12 hours). However, I've read various places that memtest is only reliable testing one stick at a time (I have 4x2GB). I didn't get any errors in 7 passes with all memory in. Does this mean that I'm fine, or should I go back and test each individually?
