Media Test Failure?
Jun 10, 2012im trying to reinstall windows from my recovery discs and am getting media test failre check cable message. am I missing a set? i cant seem to find reinstall directions anywhere

Can't Boot Computer (Media Test Failure)
Jul 15, 2011Yesterday while watching an online baseball stream and simultaneously browsing facebook, my computer randomly gave me an error message. Unfortunately I don't remember what the message was about. What I do remember is that I immediately opened a new firefox tab and searched up the error. I clicked on the first link, and the OP was talking about how he had received the error and shortly after, his computer shut down. Almost on cue, my computer crashed and restarted itself.Ever since then, I can't boot up my computer properly.I turn on the computer, I see the first two screens that I always see (BIOS screen and then the 'Detecting eSATA drives' screen). After this it goes to the third screen, which I also always see. But this is where the problem is.First it loads all that code crap that I never understand. Then, like always it gives me these two lines: 'Verifying DMI Pool Data....'And then 'Boot from CD'. This always happens. But regularly from here it just boots up and goes to the Windows loading screen.Now, on the same screen, it starts giving me error messages.

Before, I was also getting the error message 'PXE-E53: No Boot Filename Received' prior to the media test failure message. After I unplugged and replugged my internal hard drive (some forums were saying to check the cables for the hard drive) the first error dissapeared.I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit OS. I bought the computer second-hand off a guy who was selling it online. He didn't have any of the CDs, so my copy of Windows 7 is burned (though I do have the CD still). Before yesterday it was working fine.All I want to do is to be able to get into the computer (Hard Drive) once, so that I can backup all my files and then I'd reinstall Windows 7 from scratch.

Mar 29, 2012I was watching a movie on Netflix, stopped to go out and closed my laptop (HP Pavillion dv100 with Windows 7) so it would sleep till I got back from the store. Unfortunately, it tried but it said it couldn't "come out of hibernation" so I said OK to restarting it. But then it kept making funny noises with the DVD drive so I took out the DVD movie. [I'd left it in there for a couple of weeks cuz the DVD &/or WMD also wasn't working and I'd been working on installing an updated driverfor my video card but I wasn't getting anywhere.] Once it was DVD-less it tried to restart, but it got to the B & W Intel screen and then tried but failed to open Windows 7 and then it flashed the following error message (and has ever since):[CODe]

Feb 17, 2013friend speed his computer up by turning off certain things off from startup and services like skype and steam when suddenly it crashed after a reboot. then the message pxe-e61 media test failure check cable comes up every time I reboot. I need help as soon as possible because he has a paper that is due and I'm feeling really bad for causing thihe hard drive is detected in the BIOS. It's a Hitachi. I do have a Dell re-installation DVD with the same OS. I realize this disk won't install my drivers but was hoping there was a way i could install just the OS and download the drivers after. I do have the original product key for the HP. Now when i start up it says "No bootable disk-- insert boot disk and press any key" or "Media test failure, check cable". Even with before mentioned re-installation disk inserted. When i goto Setup Utility: Diagnostics and run the Primary Hard Disk Self Test and the memory Test it Passes both. Disable Test Mode Watermark But Keep Test Signing Enabled?
Mar 10, 2011I've been using my Ps3 controller as an alternative to an Xbox 360 controller on my PC (to play games with a gamepad) but in order to use my Ps3 controller as a makeshift 360 controller, I need test signing enabled.
Unfortunately with test signing enabled I get a big ugly watermark at the bottom right of my screen, as far as I know the only way to disable this is to disable test signing, otherwise it just won't leave! Is there any way I can get past this and somehow keep driver test signing enabled but get rid of that horrid watermark ruining my gorgeous wallpaper?

And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players.But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)

It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.

Aug 20, 2010I am on the tail end of building my system. It has been quite and experience so far. After an already successful first build, the computer is OC at 3.9 ghz stable but then I felt the urge to upgrade my sole 1TB hard drive ( 32 MB Cache /3 mbs ) into a RAID 0 configuration,using 2 brand new WD 1TB hard drive, 64 MB Cache / 6 mbs, which my Asus supports. I am assuming that this will seriously improve speed and performance.trying to figure out the RAID setup in BIOS and a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit, I finally got it to work. The computer is now operational. But there is only concern I have...
I can't tell any MAJOR improvement ! A slight improvement in speed when I change windows and programs is notice.In addition, the transfer rate when I moved files to the new RAID was quicker at around 88 MBS. Why I am concern is because my Windows system assessment's score for hard disk transfer rate is only at 5.9, which is low and the same as before. Everything else is at 7.5 or higher. Also, I was hoping the load times of my files ( the thumbnail previews ) would increase in speed, but appears to be the same. I am somewhat certain that my RAID setup in BIOS was done correctly. The system is seeing one drive with a 2 TB capacity. I use my computer to do a lot of hd video editing.
1- Is there a way or to test, monitor, or tweak my RAID 0 setup for optimum performance?
2- Am I actually getting the best out of RAID 0 and my expectations were just too high?
3- Are there specifically " one " type of RAID 0 setup? ( I just want to eliminate the possibility of setting up RAID 0 incorrectly in BIOS ).

Test All Memory At Once With Memtest?
Sep 3, 2011I am trying to diagnose a problem with my machine, and in so doing I have run memtest overnight (to test all 8GB of RAM--which takes about 12 hours). However, I've read various places that memtest is only reliable testing one stick at a time (I have 4x2GB). I didn't get any errors in 7 passes with all memory in. Does this mean that I'm fine, or should I go back and test each individually?

Use 64bit Media Center With 32bit Media Player?
Jul 25, 2011I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.
