View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, after a pretty heavy storm we had a power failure. At the time I was using an .exe program ...and I also had firefox operating. When I booted my computer up again neither program would function. I wasn't too bothered about firefox, but the other .exe program is pretty important as I need it for my job. Anyway, I managed to get the .exe program working again by opening it with the Compatibility Wizard and running it as if it was XP. (However it wouldn't permanently "save" in this mode, so had to go through the wizard everytime I had to use it).
Before I "found" the Compatibility Wizard solution, I restored the computer to before the power failure, but this didn't make any difference. Now I have had a second power failure. Once again with the .exe program open. And now it won't open at all, either with the wizard or without it. I reinstalled the program...and it still didn't work. (Although Firefox did when reinstalled). I have done a Registry Repair with RegSofts registry repair software....but still nothing. Now I am "a bit" stuck, to say the least !
So my laptop was working fine last night, woke up this morning and this issue appeared. I'm guessing it's a virus (stupidly, I haven't installed an AVP on this machine yet). Anyways, I can't open anything. Doesn't matter where I try to open the program or file from. The load icon appears but nothing happens. I also can't access the task manager or shut down/log off/etc. from the start menu, I get a "Failure to display security and shut down options" error msg. I'm in safe mode with networking right now, which is allowing me to open programs. I've already tried a system restore but it didn't solve the problem.

I was normally using my computer, when I suddenly noticed one of my hard drives disappeared from My Computer. Checked the Device Manager, I get the following. Trying to initialize it throws up this error: Seems to spin just fine. Trying different USB ports failed, switching cables as well. Already tried a few programs. GetDataBack for NTFS throws up error 1117. R-Studio also fails, as does DMDE and MTY. My friend even borrowed me Microsoft DaRT (part of MDOP), but when I boot into it, it doesn't recognize the HDD at all, no matter how hard I try. Only my Windows 7 installation does.Anything I can do in this situation? I had a lot of important data on it, and it's not completely dead yet. Maybe I can still save it somehow, without haivng to pay one of those data recovery thieves...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing issues with my computer. It tends to blue screen and reads "Driver_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". I've tried to run some scans and diagnostics and even backed up my PC and then rebooted it with factory new settings, but it is still BSOD. View 7 Replies View RelatedSo about a month and a half ago I bought myself a new MSI Laptop, and in the past 3 weeks I've had 5 Driver Power State Failure (DPSF) BSOD's. I've searched around but I'm not confident enough when it comes to BSOD's to actually do anything without first getting some advice for my particular problem. All I have really been able to tell from this is that the error always occurs at the same location, ntoskrnl.exe (+7cc40), which, being a critical part of the OS, I assume is a very bad thing. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am getting these "driver power state failure" crashes with increasing frequency. I suspect it's a driver conflict involving my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra (music recording interface), which is connected via USB.My computer is an HP 671-340US notebook, bought in June or July 2010, with Windows 7 Home Premium (and a whole bunch of HP bloatware!) already installed. I have eliminated some of the HP crap because it constantly interrupted my work, and shut down my computer right in the middle of what I was doing, if I missed the message balloon. Don't know if that contriubuted to the problem. I updated all the drivers and Windows 7 yesterday and today. Crashed again this morning. No hardware upgrades; using it the way it came

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
It is the original OS. OEM.
The laptop is new, just 2 weeks since I bought it. Same goes for the OS installation, I have not reinstalled it.
I had Firefox, a bunch of Adobe programs (Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign maybe) open. I was in firefox (which does freeze from time to time) and got the BSOD.
Win 7 X64 Retail, fresh install around December Everything is new as of last year except the Video card and hard drives (couple of WD Blue 500GB Raided, and some others for storage)
I am having this BSOD since 14 days , my laptop HP dv6 6165 tx is new and a month old and i play games on it for almost 2-3 hours daily it has OEM windows 7 64 bit installed on it. I have attched the mini dump report files and the perform/report files in the attched file zip folder
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy very recently purchased laptop was showing some problems from last 2 days. It would get stuck at the shutdown screen and then after extended span of time I had to press and hold power key to turn it off. It happened only twice. I had updated atleast one or the other thing before shutting it down...either through HP Support Assistant or Windows update.
Last night i ran Windows Update and tried to turn off my pc but since updates were being installed it said Windows will shut down once the updates are installed automatically...so i went to sleep only to find in the morning a BSOD. It was stuck on it again i had to turn off my pc by holding power button and then windows refused to boot beyond the Windows 7 logo black screen. But after a couple of retries it started.
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM Age of the System- 6 days
I'm running Windows 7 and whenever I close my laptop my computer crashes and restarts. My settings are set to go to sleep mode when the lid is closed. I ran Blue Screen View and have a Driver Power State Failure. I also ran the SF Diagnostic Tool and attached the results.
View 8 Replies View RelatedUsually I'm able to sort my own computer problems (with the help of good ol' Google). However I've been stuck with this for some time now. BSOD, Driver_power_state_failure. I can't really pin point a particular time this happens I'm afraid. I built this PC myself (my first one) about 7-8 months ago(?) and haven't really had any problems.
So far, I've reinstalled windows and updated all my drivers as recommended from many Google searches but I am still getting the same BSOD and frankly if I can't find the answer via Google I'm pretty much buggered . After reading the posting instructions I've used the diagnostic tool, so I'll attach the zip.

two BSODs of similar fashion:
The machine was running for several hours at that point, and suddenly the
blue screen pops up. I wasn't really pushing the system, just browsing.
The crash dump is like this in both cases:
This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA8003B4B050, 0xFFFFF80000B9C518, 0xFFFFFA80052E0E10)
Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
file path: C:Windowssystem32
toskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Likely the culprit is another
driver on your system which cannot be identified.
