View 2 Replies View RelatedSitting here in class and our professor was telling us admin it disabled by default in Vista/Windows 7 now for security reasons. I mentioned you can access it from a command prompt based program that comes in a bootable iso format you burn on disc.
I can not for the life of me remember what the name of that program was but a couple years ago I was working on a Win Vista system that got a virus that locked out the user by changing the user account passwords.
We Googled, found this program you burn on a CD and it brings up a menu that will allow you to reset the user account password, or log into the admin account.
I got a computer from school and i can access it by just typing in user and no password but i cant delete the other kids that use the accounts folders under users it says "access denied" now how can i reset the admin acc to delete that user account folders?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI followed the procedure found on the web, I entered "netplwiz" and did unchecksers must enter a user name and password to use this computer". There is no password setTHere is just one user/account which is obviously also the administrator. (the Account tab shows also HomeGroupUser$, but I guess is a default option...)the point is that when I switch the pc on, I have to click on the icon of the user account in order to see the desktop. Is there any chance I can login automatically without even clicking on the user icon

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an "server" with windows 7 ultimate running. Here I have earlier shared the whole hard disks and no protection everyone on the network could access them.
But now I would like to share folders to specified peoplecomputers. iv'e made user accounts on the computer and chosen to share only with them. But the problem then is that I cant access the server anymore, and I don't get an option to log in to the server, only an error message that I don't have permission.
The computers are part of an network run by an sbs 2011 with an domain. no log in over the network. When i find the server on an other computer and try to open it I only get an error message.
If I than share an folder with everyone alowed to se it, I can connect to the computer and see the shared folders, but cant acsess the ones with password only the one without and I still don't get an option to log in.
I can't disable "password protected sharing" in Win7 (home premium, came pre-installed on new laptop, less than a week old). I can disable the setting in advanced network settings and save, and it stays saved when i re-open settings, but no matter what I change, whenever I try to open the network share from an XP machine it challenges me for a login/password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a second user last night and found a few folders in My Documents for the 2nd user had come from a Users/Public folder, when they were made in My Documents of the first user. So I went into the Users folder and looked into my first user and was able to access any folder despite being in the 2nd user. In Win XP I'd be blocked from accessing that folder because the user is password protected; in Win 7 that seems to be a security flaw since I'm not blocked.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from windows XP to 7. The problem is I can no longer connect to my shares on the server. Windows prompts me for a username and password and once I input this info, the same prompt shows up again.I have realised the domain it uses in the prompt (for username and password) is the same as the machine name and I have no field to input the domain manually.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a dual-boot setup of Windows 7 Ultimate, one x64 and the other x86 (the 32-bit one is there mostly for when I face compatibility issues, since my system has 4GB of RAM and it came pre-installed with the 64-bit version). My primary partition runs the x64 version, which is my main OS, but I am facing a really annoying glitch with my user name at the welcome screen. In the 32 bit boot, the welcome screen loads and my account picture is shown maximized and the password box is already highlighted, so all I need to do is enter the password and I am good to log in. However, the 64 bit boot loads with my account picture minimized (as if there was another account available), and I have to click on it or press the Space bar to get it to show me the password box so I can log in. This wouldn't bother me normally, but I just recently did a clean install of both boot configs and it has only been since then that this has been a problem. Previously, my 64-bit welcome screen would load normally and I wouldn't have to select the account manually.
I have spent countless hours online trying to find a solution to this problem, and I have still not been able to do so. The only difference between the two configurations is that I connected to my local HomeGroup with the 64-bit OS, and I have since left it and disabled the associated services, but I have not been able to restore the default login screen. I can't remember if this issue existed before I joined this HomeGroup or not, so I don't even want to restore my computer that far back in case that wasn't the problem.
I have forgot my windows 7 professional 32 bit administrator password please help me how can i get it back. or how can i bypass it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have forgotten my Administrator password. I have tried a couple of the free password crackers, but no luck. Also tried the command net user, with no luck; I get the "Access Denied" message whenever I try this. I've looked at a lot of the threads here, but they all seem to be just a little bit different. All I have access to is this other user profile, and I can't install anything on it without the Admin password. I have the Windows DVD, and have tried a boot repair, but it tells me that the OS is booting correctly (which it is). Where to from here ? It's wasted a helluva lot of time, and I just seem to be going round in circles. How can I give this profile I am using Admin rights ? Don't seem to be able to do anything without the Admin password.
