I am facing a problem with windows 7 ultimate. I am having a log which is password protected on windows 7. I want to check all files from that log. I have forgot the password. How can I do this.
I bought a used HDD on line and installed in my Dell Latiude D430. It has windows 7 pro on it. The problem I'm having is windows is password protected, how do I change the password so I can access windows?
After a virus removal process found a number of password protected folders in PCusersdocuments. Avast says that it was unable to access the folders. Folders include Flashplayer 11?
Downloaded adl uncompressor to unzip password protected files didn't download right are there any other alternatives or where can I download a working copy.
I have an "server" with windows 7 ultimate running. Here I have earlier shared the whole hard disks and no protection everyone on the network could access them.
But now I would like to share folders to specified peoplecomputers. iv'e made user accounts on the computer and chosen to share only with them. But the problem then is that I cant access the server anymore, and I don't get an option to log in to the server, only an error message that I don't have permission.
The computers are part of an network run by an sbs 2011 with an domain. no log in over the network. When i find the server on an other computer and try to open it I only get an error message.
If I than share an folder with everyone alowed to se it, I can connect to the computer and see the shared folders, but cant acsess the ones with password only the one without and I still don't get an option to log in.
I can't disable "password protected sharing" in Win7 (home premium, came pre-installed on new laptop, less than a week old). I can disable the setting in advanced network settings and save, and it stays saved when i re-open settings, but no matter what I change, whenever I try to open the network share from an XP machine it challenges me for a login/password.
Whenever I run a scan, my antivirus cannot scan about 40! files , because they are password protected.I have NEVER used password protection for any file on my PC, plus, I can't LOCATE those files?
I created a second user last night and found a few folders in My Documents for the 2nd user had come from a Users/Public folder, when they were made in My Documents of the first user. So I went into the Users folder and looked into my first user and was able to access any folder despite being in the 2nd user. In Win XP I'd be blocked from accessing that folder because the user is password protected; in Win 7 that seems to be a security flaw since I'm not blocked.
I recently upgraded from windows XP to 7. The problem is I can no longer connect to my shares on the server. Windows prompts me for a username and password and once I input this info, the same prompt shows up again.I have realised the domain it uses in the prompt (for username and password) is the same as the machine name and I have no field to input the domain manually.
I am attempting to setup Homegroup for first time on new computer, I was asked to set a password. The first pw was only 7 letters. It was rejected as requiring 8 letters. Attempted to re-enter new password and program states its the wrong password. When I go to the homegroup page there is no link to see and change password.
I recently suffered a trojan virus attach and ultimately have changed my password on my email server.I have tried to reset it to the new password in Windows mail multiple times. It keeps reverting to the old password as the saved password, and I continually have to retype in the new password. I tried resetting the password to nothing, and rebooting, and the old password comes back again. There must be a preference file or an ini file that I can edit. Can I do that without loosing my address book, etc.?
Just updgraded to Windows 7. I have a few password protected Excel sheets. I was really surprised to see the content of my sheets showing in the Windows 7 Explorer preview pane (before opening the dicument and being asked to enter the password). Any extra protection I need to put on the document to prevent this behavior?
I've a dual boot configuration, XP Professional and Windows 7, where the 2 partitions/OS's are independent by use of a third-party (non-Windows) boot manager. My problem is that any external hard drive I use while booted into my Win 7 OS becomes write protected within a few minutes of installation; however, the same drive is fully usable--i.e., not write protected--if used while booted into my XP Pro OS.
I'm slowly losing my mind. I've checked the registry entry involving "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies" and it's as it should be. I've used the command prompt to check volume/disk attributes for the external drives and all of them are readonly clear. Literally, running Windows 7, within minutes of plugging in an otherwise not write protected USB external hard drive it becomes write protected. Every time.
Couple of days ago I protected and encrypted a rar file with password while I was using administrator profile. After a week, I made another profile in win7 and made it administrator; simultaneously I deleted the previous profile. Now I cant access that rar file; its showing access denied.
I upgraded my husbands computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Did a full backup under Vista to an external drive, and also used Easy Transfer. Wanted to do a clean install and format the hard drive due to past computer problems. All went fine until I used easy transfer to put the ''old''files back onto the computer after the new Win 7 install. I'm getting a ''protected content migration'' error, asking for a password. My husband did not have a password on the old user account, but just to be sure we have tried every password that we have used. No luck with any of them. How do I know what it is that we no longer have access to? Is there anyway for me to recover access to these files that are supposedly password protected? Should I do anything as drastic as just doing a full restore back to Windows Vista from the backup copy and change anything and then start over?
Since two days ago I cant access internet anymore. Called the provider, they send a tchnician and he told me that its a new problem in a recent (1 week old) version of windows 7.In normal mode I cant acces but in protected mode I can (without all funcionalities). The technician told me to look for a support.
